A down-on-his-luck pilot stuck repossessing private jets is offered one last shot at redemption in the form of a dangerous rescue mission in director Jerry Jameson's Christian-themed adventure. Dan Hogan's (Richard Tyson) once-promising stint in the skies has come to a standstill, and now the only way that the former pilot can seem to make ends meet is by playing repo man to the jet-set crowd. When the father of Dan's ex-girlfriend Ann (Bobbie Phillips) receives news that the Columbian village in which his missionary daughter lives has fallen prey to marauding drug-runners who aren't above killing to make a buck, he enlists the aid of the washed-up pilot in ensuring that the endangered girl makes it back home alive. Now, with time running short and the nefarious General Salazar (Rene Moreno) making his way to the remote village in which Ann has set up camp, Dan must enlist the aid of talkative missionary dentist Dr. Mateo Barrero (Adriano Gonzalez) in navigating the treacherous grounds of Alto Risco and bringing home the benevolent Ann. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Don Cheadle makes his first series appearance as Paul Nathan, an overaged med student who chose to enter school only after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. During his first shift, Nathan plunges in to help the other staffers treat the victims of a Halloween party fire -- whereupon his colleagues notice that he doesn't react all that well to intense pressure. In other developments, Corday (Alex Kingston) and Romano (Paul McCrane) battle over a patient who may be facing an amputation; despite her recent erratic behavior, Weaver (Laura Innes) tries to save a baby who was all but killed in a home birth gone awry; and the romance between Chuny (Laura Ceron) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) is sabotaged by his insatiable addiction to sex. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Growing up in Texas, filmmaker Duane Graves became close friends with a neighborhood boy Rene Moreno, and as they grew older the two stayed in touch. But their paths in life became increasingly different over the years -- largely because Moreno is afflicted with Down's Syndrome. But Moreno has long struggled not to let his handicap define his life, and Graves' documentary Up Syndrome follows a year in Moreno's life, as he graduates from a high school for special students in 1999 and attempts to integrate himself into the "normal" world around him. Over the course of 12 months, Moreno gains and loses a job, gains and loses a girlfriend, learns to drive a car, follows the San Antonio Spurs as they aim for an NBA championship, and generally tries to make sense of the world around him as best he can, holding on to his optimism at every setback. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Pop star Joey Lawrence stars in this blend of comedy and horror about a group of college kids who get a lot more than they counted on when they head to Mexico for a good time. Film student Johnny Orpheus (Lawrence) and his buddies Paul (Nathan Anderson) and Al (Josh Marchette) decide to head down to Mexico's Rosaferno Beach for a major league party, held to commemorate the national celebration of the Day of the Dead. A Mexican medicine man persuades Johnny to try a potion that will allow him to read women's minds, doubtless a great advantage in winning the girl of your dreams. Johnny tries it, only to discover it also makes him see Hector (Rene L. Moreno), a horrific demon who has risen from hell to reclaim the hand of his former lover, Carlotta. Will Johnny be able to vanquish evil and snag a date with one of the hot babes he's met? ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The "slobs versus snobs" formula of lowbrow comedy gets a twist in this mindless Pauly Shore vehicle that pits slobs against scientists. Shore plays Bud Macintosh, a Tucson, Arizona, slacker and junior college student. Bud and his best pal Doyle Johnson (Stephen Baldwin), have just suffered the humiliation of being dumped by their girlfriends when they stumble into what they think is a new mall. However, the facility is a scientific research laboratory known as a bio-dome, a self-sustaining habitat in which five scientists, led by Dr. Noah Faulkner (William Atherton), are to conduct experiments. The catch is that the bio-dome has just been sealed for a year and cannot be opened. As their twelve months pass, Bud and Doyle with their amorous behavior and toilet humor are a constant source of irritation and annoyance to the legitimate residents, but they find romance and eventually get an unexpected chance to prove themselves. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Only three of the original five "young guns" -- Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez), Jose Chavez y Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips), and Doc Scurlock (Kiefer Sutherland) -- return in Young Guns, Part 2, which is the story of Billy the Kid and his race to safety in Old Mexico while being trailed by a group of government agents led by Pat Garrett (William Petersen). Along the way, Billy's crew gains three new recruits: Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh (Christian Slater), Tom O'Folliard (Balthazar Getty), and Hendry French (Alan Ruck). Though the film suffers from an uneven script, many performances -- particularly Slater's -- are surprisingly strong, and the movie looks great. The theme song, "Blaze of Glory", is performed by Jon Bon Jovi in his first solo appearance; the rocker also has a cameo in the film. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Movie Guide
