Based on Virginia Sorenson's novel On the Star, this ABC TV movie is set in a small Mormon community in rural Utah. Returning to his home town after many years is Erik Eriksen (Rob Estes), a world-famous piano virtuoso. Although beloved by millions of music fans, Erik is treated with disdain by his family, who resent his popularity and are shocked by his all-consuming passion for his art. The only people who truly "understand" Erik are his brother Jens (Mike Doyle) and Jens' fiancée Chel (Jennie Garth), herself a pianist of no small talent. In keeping with the film's title, innocence is lost beyond recall when Erik, much against his better nature, betrays Jens and enters into a torrid romance with Chel. A Loss of Innocence was first broadcast September 29, 1996. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

There's hardly an original moment in One Man Army, but who goes to these movies for their plots? ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Anthony Michael Hall and Michael Pare star in this ridiculous rip-off of Top Gun and Rambo III. Hall plays Tom Slade, a Hollywood pretty-boy star who prepares for a film role by hanging around Air Force fighter pilot Paul Watkins (Michael Pare). Of course, Paul resents the Hollywood intrusion, but as the film unravels, he begins to respect Tom Slade. Paul begins by putting Tom through the wringer, and Tom manages to make it through the tough training regimen, but Paul gets his dander up when Tom makes a play for his girlfriend Major Goode (Deborah Maria Moore). Finally, Tom gets to ride in an F-16, and Paul puts on an aerial display that would rival the Blue Angels. Unfortunately, during the stunts the boys are shot down and end up in the Middle East where they are tortured by Bedouins. Tom and Paul have to combine their stunt tricks in order to escape the enemies clutches. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Director Martin Donovan (real name Carlos Enrique Varela y Peralta-Ramos) directed this beautifully photographed western/horror amalgam. The story takes places in the American West in 1892. Jenny Hill (Mary Stuart Masterson) longs for the love of the local rough-and-tumble outlaw James Miller (Stephen Blake), who is also in love with her. But Jenny's mother (Fionnula Flanagan) doesn't approve, and instead marries Jenny off to James's half-brother Miller Brown (Hart Bochner), a polite and inarticulate farmer. Miller is in love with Jenny, but she can't stand his touch. Jenny begins to lapse into boredom until the full moon rises and she discovers Miller is a werewolf who spends his nights growling and baying at the moon, while Jenny remains locked inside their cabin. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Roger Corman's Concorde-New Horizons studio rolled out this nutty exploitation hybrid -- a half-baked attempt to fuse a Die Hard action theme (hence the title) to a T&A psycho-horror flick in the hope of producing direct-to-video pay dirt. Viewed on those terms, it almost works. The story begins (here goes) with a group of lovely female employees doing late-night inventory in the basement of the Acme Lingerie Company. After having the pants scared off them (nearly, anyway) by the creepy janitor and getting conveniently drenched by the sprinkler system, they move upstairs to take long showers and change into the company stock. The horror portion of the plot kicks in when they inadvertently open an unmarked package, releasing a malevolent ghost which possesses one of the girls. A convenient twist reveals a crate of weapons, leading to a hot-lead showdown with the demonic cutie. Long-time Corman pal Jim Wynorski applies some comic flair, including his usual references to different Corman projects, for which this film must set some kind of record. Look for Famous Monsters creator Forrest J. Ackerman in a wacky cameo. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

This juvenile rehash of The Invisible Man -- done as a combination of T&A sex-comedy and gory horror film -- stars Noel Peters as a sex-crazed mad scientist (given to ridiculous cackling fits) who evades the law by masquerading as a physics teacher at a high school filled to overflow with curvaceous blond bimbos. When the lecherous prof invents a "molecular reorganization" formula that renders him invisible, he finds even more opportunity to ogle the girls' showers and cop the occasional feel. Murdering anyone he suspects may be wise to his shenanigans, the professor eventually begins killing just for the fun of it. Writer-director Riff Coogan may have conceived this mess as a campy, Troma-style sex-and-gore romp, hardly a worthwhile aspiration. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

Ginger Lynn Allen and Linnea Quigley reprise their roles as Holly and Didi from the first Vice Academy film, this time chronicling their adventures after finally joining the police force. The two new recruits argue ceaselessly over who is the better officer, though in reality they both make the same dumb mistakes and are equally in hot water after accidentally injuring fellow cop Petrolino (Scott Layne). Demoted to switchboard duty, the girls get another chance to prove their worth when the evil supervillainess Spanish Fly (Toni Alessandrini) threatens to poison the city's water supply with a dangerous aphrodisiac. Since her hideout is rumored to be the Vicerama Strip Club, Holly and Didi are sent there to get jobs and search for clues. Unfortunately, the only position to be filled is bookkeeper, so when the girls arrive in skimpy outfits and proposition the boss, they fail to make the right impression. Luckily, the police force has a new secret weapon that will render police women obsolete: Bimbocop (Teagan Clive), an Amazonian robot who is "half woman, half machine, and all trash!" Bimbocop is assigned to help Holly and Didi save the city from Spanish Fly once and for all. However, this amazing contraption has four settings (Work, Rampage, Overload, and Worthless) and when her controls are tampered with, nothing works out according to plan. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide

Someone is sexually assaulting and (usually) killing the students of a girls' school. There are entirely too many suspects to make the job of the Scotland Yard detective (Frank Finlay) an easy one. The girls' persistent use of the shortcut through the woods in which the crimes occur has only compounded the problem. Although one of the victims has survived the attack, shock has erased her memory of the event, and the detective's investigations are perforce guided by the vague impressions of the school's art mistress (Suzy Kendall), who witnessed something. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
