Richard Moll Movies
Six feet tall by the time he was twelve, Richard Moll would eventually peak at 6'8". To ward off jokes about his height, Moll adopted the "class clown" pose in school, eventually developing a taste for play-acting. Moving from his hometown of Pasadena to Hollywood in 1968, Moll spent the next decade or so with various theatrical troupes, and for a while toured schools in the role of Abraham Lincoln. Whenever he made the movie and TV casting rounds, Moll was greeted with an astonished "What a monster!"; thus, a monster he became, playing a steady succession of "bikers and snake men and one-eyed mutants." He was one of the title characters in the 1972 TV movie Gargoyles, was seen as an abominable snowman in Caveman (1981), and played various and assorted hulking goons in such adventure flicks as Metalstorm (1982) and The Sword and the Sorceror (1984). He was finally allowed to exhibit his "human" side--not to mention his considerable flair for light comedy--as court guard Bull Shannon on the long-running (1984-92) TV sitcom Night Court. Back to monstrosities and villains again in the 1990s--this time by choice rather than necessity-- Richard Moll has continued appearing in sizeable (in more ways than one) TV guest-star roles, and has lent his vocal talents to the role of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, in Batman: The Animated Series. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide- 2002

After discovering an alien that just crash landed on Earth, two teenage siblings due the best to keep their extraterrestrial secret under wraps as they help the desperate star man find his way back home. Richard Moll and Joey Aresco star in this comedy for the whole family. Four kids who've formed a club decide they need a mascot, and get a Dalmatian which they named Vulcan. The pooch, however, accidentally leads them to a dog kidnapping ring when Vulcan is snatched and held hostage. This unusual comedy-drama, set in an experimental psychiatric institute, is a departure for genre director Philippe Mora, whose usual oeuvre is science fiction, horror, and low-budget action films. Rene Auberjonois stars as Dr. Sam Cohen, director of the Temporal Displacement Foundation. Cohen's highly-offbeat but well-funded mission is to treat psychotic patients whose particular dysfunction is the belief that they are famous historical figures, with the chief therapy being psychodrama, the reenactment of passages from that figure's life. Although he has some patients who believe themselves to be artists or religious icons (Mick Fleetwood as Pablo Picasso and Jesse Grey Walken as Jesus Christ), Cohen's star patient (Angus MacFadyen) believes himself to be Adolf Hitler. The clever, mentally ill genius has inexorably drawn several fellow patients into his delusion, including Tessa (T.C. Warner), who now believes herself to be Eva Braun. In this family-oriented action comedy, the klutzy demeanor of a large but unassuming toy seller (wrestler Hulk Hogan) is but a facade for a highly skilled, globe-trotting secret agent working for a super-secret peacekeeping operation. His son Jeremy knows only that he doesn't get to see his dad very often as he is often away on "business trips." As his mother died years ago, this is especially difficult for the boy. One day, his father brings home a new type of laser gun he swiped from a pretty foreign arms dealer. He tells Jeremy that it's just a new kind of toy, but his secret finally comes out when the arms dealer sends her henchmen to retrieve it. His father is captured, but Jeremy escapes with the laser gun. With practice, he learns the truth about its uses and becomes an expert shot with it. Along the way, Fraser makes the acquaintance of gorgeous horsewoman Stephanie Cabot (Teri Polo), but this pleasant diversion is forgotten when he and his partner Ray Vecchio (David Marciano) find themselves trapped in a meat locker. This theatrical sci-fi action tale is actually the first in a series of direct-to-video features derived from re-edited episodes of the syndicated television show Highlander (1992-1997). Adrian Paul stars as Duncan "Mac" MacLeod, kin of Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), the main character from three previous Highlander features. The MacLeods are two of a race of Immortals, destined to wander the planet forever, capable of dying only by beheading and battling with swords of those of their ilk that have gone evil. Connor appears to help Mac battle Slan (Richard Moll), a fellow Immortal gone wrong, but Slan gets the best of Connor, hurling him from a bridge, leaving Mac to finish Slan off. Months later, Mac becomes involved with another Immortal, Reinhardt (Christopher Ohrt), and his girlfriend Rebecca (Vanity). Believing Reinhardt dead at Mac's hands, Rebecca seeks vengeance for her lover's death, but Mac discovers that Reinhardt, still alive, is manipulating them both. This revelation leads to a final showdown between Mac and Reinhardt. Highlander: The Gathering (1993) also introduced some of the TV series' regulars, including Mac's best friend Richie (Stan Kirsch) and girlfriend Tessa (Alexandra Van Der Noot). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Tempestt Bledsoe is a long way removed from The Cosby Show in the made-for-TV Dream Date. Bledsoe plays gorgeous 16-year-old Danni Fairview, who is courted by suave Jim Parker (Kadeem Hardison). Alas, Jim's nerdish buddy Rudy (Pauly Shore) insists upon poking his nose into the proceedings. All of this is viewed with alarm by Danni's daddy Bill (Clifton Davis), who remembers what a rat with women he was in high school. The ninth and final season of Night Court finds Judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson) poised to renew his romance with recently divorced public defender Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) -- while Assistant DA Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), unnerved at being the victim of an elaborate confidence scam, goes berserk big-time and kidnaps Christine! Believe it or not, things get even more bizarre and surrealistic from this point on: Harry nearly sparks World War III when he jails a foreign diplomat, bailiff Bull (Richard Moll) is forced to perform a miracle if he wants to get married, and is later abducted by aliens from the planet Jupiter; court matron Roz (Marsha Warfield) makes headlines by revealing her erotic dreams; and Mel Tormé practically becomes a series regular. The roller-coaster romance between Judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson) and public defender Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) would seem to have come to an end during season seven of Night Court, in which Christine not only married undercover cop Tony Guilliano (Ray Abruzzo), but also gave birth to Tony's baby. Philosophically, Harry launches season eight by taking up with a new series character, court reporter Margaret Turner (Mary Cadorette), and also goes out for a few dates with court stenographer Lisette Hocheiser (Joleen Lutz). In addition to Margaret and Lisette, another recurring character is added to the roster during this season: S. Marc Jordan as Jack Griffin, a blind, sarcastic newsstand operator. Elsewhere, Assistant DA Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) learns that Phil, the old wino who used to hang around the courthouse, was really a millionaire, and that when he died, Phil bequeathed Dan a charitable foundation; however, with the arrival of Phil's twin brother, Will (William Utay), Dan is left holding the proverbial bag -- and facing hard time in prison! And in his annual Night Court guest appearance, Mel Tormé is cast as an angel who shows Harry what the world would have been like had he never been born (hmmm...sounds familiar). Season seven of Night Court opens as Judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson) and his long-lost father, former mental patient Buddy (John Astin), move in together. Meanwhile, Assistant DA Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), disgraced and penniless due to events not of his own making, is reduced to living in his office at the courthouse -- a mere prelude to the disbarment proceeding brought against him later on. On a happier note, Quon Lee (Denice Kumagai), wife of court clerk Mac (Charles Robinson), is on the brink of being a successful entrepreneur; and as for Mac, he is dragooned into posing as the husband of brassy court matron Roz (Marsha Warfield). And what of public defender Christine Sullivan (Markie Post), who has spent most of her Night Court tenure in an on-again, off-again romance with Harry Stone? Well, this situation is considerably altered when, on an impulse, Christine becomes the wife of undercover cop Tony Guillano (Ray Abruzzo) -- and subsequently becomes pregnant, going into labor just as season seven rushes to a close. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The made-for-TV Class Cruise is Animal House for the MENSA crowd. As a reward for their scholastic brilliance, a group of high school kids is rewarded with a 14-week ocean cruise. Not surprisingly, the snootier kids spend most of the trip fending off the idiocies of the "slobs." There's also plenty of tickle-and-tease sexual situations, few of which get past first base. So many TV regulars (including the ineluctable McLean Stevenson) appear in the cast that the original ads for this film didn't bill the actors, but instead listed the series in which they appeared. The best scenes belong to Ray Walston as grizzled, generously eyebrowed "Cappy Connors." Class Cruise first sailed into view on October 22, 1989. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Just as season five of Night Court opened by resolving the cliffhanger set up at the end of season four, so too does the opener of the series' sixth season tie up a plotline left dangling at the finale of the previous season. In this instance, Assistant DA Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), reported "missing in action" while on active duty for the Army Reserve, is rescued by Eskimos -- yes, Eskimos -- even as his friends, headed by night court judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson), are solemnly planning Dan's memorial service. No sooner does Dan return to Manhattan than he runs for state assembly...and you'll have to watch the episode to see how that situation turns out. Elsewhere, Harry and public defender Christine (Markie Post) continue pursuing their romance, though not terribly quickly; bailiff Bull (Richard Moll) falls in love himself, with disastrous results; Harry is finally told that the somewhat unbalanced Buddy Ryan (John Astin) is his real father; and court matron Rox (Marsha Warfield) ends up in the slammer herself when she tries to do a good deed. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
