Clearly inspired by the popularity of Joe Millionaire, this NBC reality series found 15 gorgeous young ladies competing for the affections of handsome 33-year-old attorney Rob Campos. Sequestered in a lavish Malibu mansion, the girls did their best to convince Campos that they were really, truly, deeply in love with him, and Rob was supposed to make his choice among the ladies based upon the credibility of their ardor. What Rob didn't know was that the girl chosen as the winner had already been promised one million dollars by the series' producers. Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, the impish impresarios of gross-out comedy, take their body function-inspired humor to new extremes in this mixture of live action and animation. Bill Murray stars as Frank, a zoo worker suffering from the effects of an unknown malady he contracted after eating an egg contaminated with simian saliva. Unknown to Frank, the inside of his body is actually a city (the City of Frank) teeming with cellular life, where the mysterious illness he's fighting is an invading enemy that must be defeated at all costs. It's up to Osmosis Jones (voice of Chris Rock), a white blood cell cop, and Drix (voice of David Hyde Pierce), a rookie over-the-counter medication, to hunt down and stop a lethal virus (Laurence Fishburne) who's got an inferiority complex. Along the way, the partners visit Frank's runny nostrils (Booger Dam) and a bar called, appropriately enough, the Zit. Joe (Carmine Capobianco) is a bartender and a psychotic killer who falls in love with the woman of his dreams in this horror comedy. Kate (Debi Thibeault) is a manicurist who shares Joe's penchant for committing gruesome murders. The two meet, fall in love, and make plans to combine forces in the murder of Nikki (Cecilia Wilde), a topless dancer in a local club. Stabbed repeatedly, the victim stays alive and spurts copious amounts of red corpuscles until Joe hits her in the head with a frying pan. When the garbage disposal breaks after being stuffed with too many body parts, the couple calls for the plumber Herman (Frank Stewart). This undistinguished drama goes no further than clichéd views about women who gain success by bedding down those who have it. Pia Zadora stars as Jerilee, just out of high school and married to a prominent Hollywood screenwriter, with her own heart-felt aspirations to get her screenplays noticed by the right producers. Her marriage fails for many reasons and once on her own, she comes to the difficult decision that she really will go nowhere fast unless she uses her sexual charms to pave the way to recognition -- and so she does, with a bit of revenge thrown in at the end for good measure. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
