Kyle Gallner Movies
Actor
Kyle Gallner commenced film and television roles in the early 2000s; he specialized in supporting portrayals of individuals who fall prey to the destructive influences of more dominant and malevolent characters. Though
Gallner began his Hollywood tenure with guest roles on series including
Touched by an Angel,
Third Watch, and
Judging Amy, he quickly moved into more prominent assignments, including season-long runs on the youth-oriented detective show
Veronica Mars (as Beaver Casablancas, the younger brother of a twisted bully and the victim of child abuse), and season three of
CSI: NY (as Reed Garrett, a former foster child-turned-kidnapping victim).
Gallner subsequently moved into feature roles; he was particularly memorable as the son of a mentally ill, emotionally tortured mother (
Marisa Tomei) in the independent feature
Danika (2006), and Harold, an accomplice of a twisted teen who shoots an old man's dog, in the revenge-fueled thriller
Red (2008). ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

A naïve teenager finds out just how complicated adult relationships can be in this comedy drama from veteran television director Jeffrey Fine. Aaron (Kyle Gallner) is a bright but socially awkward college freshman studying to become an engineer, like most of the men in his family. Aaron has been accepted into a special advanced program at an Ivy League university, but he's also a gifted cartoonist and would rather study art. Aaron tries to work some drawing classes into his schedule, and through one he meets Linda (Laura Allen), a beautiful 34-year-old single mother who has returned to college. Upbeat and outspoken, Linda befriends Aaron; he's flattered by the attention and becomes deeply infatuated with her. However, when Linda invites Aaron home for dinner, he's introduced to Beth (Britt Robertson), her sharp-tongued and precocious 14-year-old daughter. Beth immediately develops a passionate crush on Aaron, and he finds himself in an uncomfortable position -- the woman he wants is only going to be his friend, while he's not so interested in the girl who wants him (and he could go to jail if he responds to her advances). Cherry received its world premiere at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Inspired by the frightening true-life tale of a family that moved into a converted funeral home and subsequently fell under supernatural attack, director Peter Cornwell's The Haunting in Connecticut follows the quest of a desperate mother to free her family from the grip of an evil beyond human comprehension. Sara (Virginia Madsen) and Peter Campbell (Martin Donovan) have just moved to Connecticut with their young son, Matt, when the young boy experiences a series of disturbing events that lead him to believe a malevolent force is attempting to take control of his family. Back when the home was still a funeral parlor, the original owner's clairvoyant assistant, Jonah, served as a gateway for restless spirits seeking to cross over into the physical realm. When Jonah returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent family, Sara enlists the aid of enigmatic priest Popescu (Elias Koteas) in driving the evil out before it consumes her son's body and soul. At first it appears that Popescu has been successful in driving the spirits away, but then the terror becomes more intense than ever before. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Abducted by two men and forced into child prostitution when she was just eight years old, a homeless San Diego street teen is finally reunited with her family only to find that the traumas of the past may have scarred her for life. Leslie (Ryan Simpkins) was walking to school when her neighbors Alex (Tom Arnold) and Frank (Kevin Zegers) pulled up alongside her and asked for help finding their missing dog. After scouring the neighborhood with the young girl to no avail, the men offer Leslie a ride so she won't be late for school. Along the way, the men tell Leslie that they work for her father. After school, Leslie is surprised to find the two men waiting to drive her home. Claiming that her parents have been called away on urgent business, Alex and Frank coerce Leslie into the car and give her a drink. Later, after dozing off in the backseat, Leslie awakens in a tiny bedroom with eight-year-old Donnie. Like Leslie, Donnie has been drugged and kidnapped. Donnie is led to believe that his parents have sold him for drugs, while Leslie is told that her parents want nothing to do with her anymore. Now, as the two innocent children are forced into prostitution, they use their imaginations to escape into a wondrous world of light where anything is possible.
Years later, Leslie and Donnie are struggling to rebuild their lives on the streets of San Diego. Donnie is deeply in love with Leslie, but Leslie's perception of love has been completely destroyed by her harrowing experience. One day, Leslie walks into a children's shelter and begins the painful process of reconnecting with the past. Though she is soon reunited with her parents, everything is different now, and it gradually becomes apparent that any hope she had for a normal life evaporated the fateful day she placed her trust in two monstrous strangers. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

On the way home from a public event one afternoon, Bill (Bill Paxton) and Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) find themselves overcome with passion, and make love in the car. Later, feeling a bit guilty, Barb points out that "It's Margie's (Ginnifer Goodwin) night." "It's not like we planned it," Bill responds, but soon enough, the couple are planning more little private encounters. They meet during lunch breaks, and even in the middle of the night. Nicki (Chloë Sevigny) realizes something's going on, and tells Wanda (Melora Walters) she suspects that Bill has found a potential fourth wife. Nicki and Barb find out that Margene has been socializing with Pam (Audrey Wasilewski), the neighbor across the street, and they confront her about it. Nicki calls Margene "the weak link" in their efforts to keep their lifestyle hidden. "You can't keep a secret like me," she tells Margene, "and you're not a good liar like Barb." More drama ensues at the store, where Wendy (Jodie Markell) alerts Bill to her suspicion that Don (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Peg (Wendy Phillips) are polygamists. Bill tells her, essentially, to mind her own business, but that doesn't seem likely. Bill and Don also plot to have the Attorney General's office investigate Roman's (Harry Dean Stanton) shady real-estate dealings. Ben (Douglas Smith) struggles with his sexual urges, and decides to start attending seminary after school. This does not meet with Brynn's (Sarah Jones) approval. "They'll brainwash you," she laments. One night, while Bill and Barb are out having a secret tryst, Alby (Matt Ross) pays an unwelcome visit to the Henrickson homes. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi

When a devoted mother and wife begins to experience a series of intensely terrifying visions, she soon begins to question her own sanity in a deeply unsettling psychological thriller from first-time feature filmmaker Ariel Vromen. By day Danika (Marisa Tomei) works at the local bank, and by night she assumes the role of loving family-woman to her husband Randy (Craig Bierko) and their three children Brian (Ridge Canipe), Kurt (Kyle Gallner), and Lauren (Nicki Prian). After experiencing a frighteningly vivid hallucination one day at work, the stressed-out twenty-five year old decides to quit her job and spend more time at home with the family. Though she soon opts to seek the help of a youthful therapist, Danika 's paranoia regarding the safety of her children grows increasingly intense as news stations begin to air a series of gruesome crime stories which all seem to concern the harming of young children. As paranoia rapidly morphs into panic and a series of premonitions leaves the fragile Danika an emotional disaster, the now-hysterical mother does her best to discern whether her continuing visions are the result of a deepening mental illness, or some unknown power from far beyond her realm of comprehension. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Bill (Bill Paxton) contemplates an expensive new marketing campaign for Home Plus, including a new slogan ("Home Plus...is us.") and ads that include subliminal visual cues aimed at the Mormon consumer. Don (Joel McKinnon Miller) insists that they should disentangle themselves from Roman Grant (Harry Dean Stanton) before they put a lot of money into a new campaign. A couple of Mormon missionaries visit Nicki's (Chloë Sevigny) house, and she suspects Pam (Audrey Wasilewski) of sending them. Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) doesn't believe it, and she later sneaks out of the house to join Pam and Carl (Carlos Jacott) for services at the local LDS church. While bulldozers idle ominously outside Lois' (Grace Zabriskie) gas station and her home, Joey (Shawn Doyle) calls Bill with some bad news; he actually did sign some papers involving Roman's real-estate deals, so if Bill exposes Roman, the Attorney General will also come after Joey. Joey also relays a message from Roman to Bill; he'll have his answer soon. Sarah (Amanda Seyfried) invites Heather (Tina Majorino) over to the house without warning the family. Because of the incident at Home Plus, Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) finds out about Nicki's massive credit-card debts, and confronts her about it. Nicki begs her not to tell Bill. In this episode, we also learn that Roman has always resented Bill's family, because Bill's grandfather was the original founder of Juniper Creek. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi
