Loosely adapted from a nonfiction book by Jon Ronson, Grant Heslov's directorial debut The Men Who Stare at Goats begins as heartbroken reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) heads off to imbed himself with troops as the Iraq War starts, but Wilton can't get himself into the country until he chances upon Lyn Cassady (George Clooney). It turns out Lyn spent decades as part of the New Earth Army -- a platoon of men, led by Bill Django (Jeff Bridges), who lived a new-age lifestyle in an attempt to cultivate extrasensory perception that would allow the U.S. army to win wars nonviolently. Bill now has a secret mission in Iraq, and allows Bob to come along. As the duo gets into a series of misadventures, Lyn shares with Bob the colorful history of the New Earth Army and chronicles the nefarious machinations of Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), whose jealousy of Lyn's remarkable skill brought an end to the group. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Separated from his wife of many years and left with no one to turn to for guidance or advice, the fifty-five year old owner of a small ice cream parlor moves in with his two bachelor employees, giving everyone involved the opportunity to reevaluate their lives and reassess their priorities. It's summer, and business at Ray Fulton's ice cream shop is booming. His slick manager Gevorg and his enthusiastic underling do their best to keep the business running as smooth as soft serve, yet a series of events are about to unfold that will show these three men just how unpredictable life can truly be. One afternoon, after Ramon gets into an altercation at work, Ray is forced to let him go. While Gevorg is kind enough to take Ramon in long enough for him to find a new job and get back on his feet, a second disaster follows in quick succession when Ray's long-time wife decides to file for separation seemingly out of the blue and for reasons the unsuspecting parlor owner can't fully understand. Recognizing another friend in need - and still with room to spare in his spacious home - Gevorg opens his doors to Ray as well. Later, just as the three men are beginning to settle into a comfortable routine, Ray's daughter Emily arrives in town on a mission to rescue her parents' relationship. But Ray is so wrapped up in his quest to rediscover his own identity that he doesn't seem to have much time for Emily, leaving her to form an unlikely bond with Gevorg that prompts the smooth-talking womanizer to take a second look at his rambunctious lifestyle. Meanwhile, Ramon considers entering into a potentially profitable marriage of convenience with Armenian beauty Susannah who's looking to get a green card, but finds the situation complicated after recognizing that he has better chemistry with her best friend Tami. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Vic (Michael Chiklis) persuades an increasingly disgruntled Lem (Kenny Johnson) to help him convince Tavon (Brian J. White) that he hit Mara (Michele Hicks) during his fight with Shane (Walton Goggins), so that he'll agree to help them cover up the whole incident. The murder of a public defender opens up a case that could cause tremendous problems for the department, but Claudette (CCH Pounder) insists on following through, regardless of the consequences to her career. Mara (Michele Hicks) asks Shane to request a transfer, because she doesn't want Vic to be a part of their lives. The treasury department uncovers their mole, who reveals that the Armenians most recently asked for information about Vic, Lem, Shane, and Ronnie (David Rees Snell). With the Armenians hunting them, and his team unraveling, Vic decides to take the fight to them. A look into the Armenians' illegal gas business leads to a heroin operation that eventually leads them into deadly proximity with their old nemesis, Margos (Kurt Sutter, uncredited). Meanwhile, increased scrutiny on money laundering makes it impossible for the team to clean their stolen loot, and Lem grows increasingly worried about the Strike Team going down. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi
