A woman gets a belated introduction to the joy of sex in this comedy. Priscilla (Parker Posey) is a thirtysomething public-relations agent with the unenviable job of trying to lure new businesses to Cleveland, OH. Priscilla is married to Jack (Paul Rudd), a high-school teacher who is reaching the end of his patience with his career. Things aren't going especially well at home for Priscilla and Jack -- she seems unable to have an orgasm, and while Priscilla insists she's perfectly happy with their sex life, Jack is driven to distraction by his inability to arouse his wife. When Kristen (Mischa Barton), one of Jack's students, begins displaying an extra-curricular interest in him, he throws caution to the wind and begins an affair with her, and has soon moved out of the house. Left on her own, Priscilla finally begins feeling sexual frustration, and turns to Alyssa (Liza Minnelli), an outspoken sex therapist who advises her to learn how to pleasure herself. Alyssa's advice proved to be right on the money, and soon Priscilla is a changed women who is looking for a new man in her life. She soon finds one in Wayne (Danny DeVito), a swimming-pool salesman whose sloppy appearance belies his talent in the bedroom. On September 11, 2001, New York City became the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil when a group of extremists brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The event struck to the heart of New Yorkers as well as Americans across the country (and their friends around the world), but an unexpected event helped to heal and galvanize people a few weeks later. The New York Yankees, the Big Apple's perennial baseball powerhouse, had enjoyed a strong season and found themselves representing the American League in the 2001 World Series, with the fledgling Arizona Diamondbacks as National League champs. Three of the seven games in the series were scheduled to be played at Yankee Stadium, only nine miles away from Ground Zero, and both the Yankees and New York mayor Rudy Giuliani determined that despite the attacks, the games would go on, and the hard-fought series became a rallying point across the nation, as fans rooted not just for the Yankees, but for the city they called home. Selections include Liza Minnelli performing "Some People" from Gypsy; Andrea McArdle singing "Look for the Silver Lining" and "Tomorrow," from Annie; Bebe Neuwirth and Karen Ziemba teaming up for "Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag" from Chicago; Jennifer Holliday reprising her star-making number from Dreamgirls with "And I Tell You I'm Not Going;" Elaine Stritch singing "The Ladies Who Lunch" from Company; and Nell Carter belting out the title number from Ain't Misbehavin'. Shirley Maclaine stars as a reclusive piano player in this made-for-television movie based on the play by Ernest Thompson. Maclaine plays Margaret Mary Elderdice, a loner-type who befriends her next-door neighbor and violinist Cara Varnum (Liza Minnelli) only so the two can play music together. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert features the surviving members of Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon) reuniting for a performance at Wembley Stadium in London on April 20, 1992, following the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991. Songs include "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "The Show Must Go On," and "We Will Rock You." Features guest vocalists include David Bowie, Robert Plant, Annie Lennox, Elton John, and more. Tony Church (Burt Reynolds) is a Chicago detective who loses his job when he is blamed for the deaths of his fellow officers gunned down in a botched drug bust. He becomes a bodyguard to hooker Della Roberts (Liza Minnelli), the lone witness who can identify the killer (James Remar). Bernie Casey is Church's ill-fated partner Lamar, and Dionne Warwick appears briefly as the head of a call-girl ring in this unremarkable feature. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

In this sequel to the 1981 hit comedy Arthur, the story picks up where it left off with the bibulous millionaire hero (Dudley Moore) marrying poverty-stricken Linda Marolla (Liza Minnelli) instead of going through with a prearranged wealthy marriage. The vengeful father (Stephen Elliott) of the justifiably jilted bride begins pulling a few crooked strings, and before long, Arthur is broke. Worse still, Linda is pregnant. Will Arthur crawl back into a bottle, or will he save the day? John Gielgud makes a cameo appearance as the ghost of the family-retainer character he played in the first Arthur, while Dudley Moore's real-life wife Brogan Lane shows up in a minor role. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Nine years after his last compilation of musical-movie highlights (That's Entertainment, Part II), producer Jack Haley Jr. offers another enjoyable nostalgia-fest, That's Dancing. Unlike his earlier films, which were confined to the output of MGM, That's Dancing offers vignettes from the best of Warner Bros. (the Busby Berkeley extravaganzas, On Your Toes), RKO (Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), 20th Century-Fox (The Nicholas Brothers, Carmen Miranda), Universal (1969's Sweet Charity) and United Artists (the "Cool" number from West Side Story). There are also highlights from the top musicals of the 1970s and 1980s, which with such rare exceptions as Saturday Night Fever (1977) can't hold a candle to Hollywood's vintage songfests. Host/narrators Gene Kelly, Sammy Davis Jr., Mikhail Baryshnikov, Liza Minnelli and Ray Bolger help put the clips in their historical perspective, though all five stars seem tired and unenthusiastic. The real money scene in That's Dancing is Ray Bolger's "wind" dance, which was cut from the final release print of The Wizard of Oz (1939). In answer to the excellent audience response to this vintage sequence, Haley's next compilation, That's Entertainment III (1995), incorporated several such "lost" musical gems from the MGM vaults. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
