Actor Craig Sheffer makes his feature directorial debut with this ensemble comedy featuring Ron Livingston, Rob Schneider, Jennifer Esposito, and Michael Clarke Duncan, and following a harried group of characters through twenty-four hours in a typical Los Angeles day. Quite a bit can happen over the course of a single day in L.A., and when smooth-talking scam artist Johnny (Livingston) decides to throw a bachelor party for his best friend Bill (Schneider) the events of the day take a decidedly bizarre turn. As the festivities get underway, the appearance of a transvestite prostitute, a trigger-happy ex-con, and a notorious porn king signal that this isn't going to be your typical night on the town. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Jessica (Angela Lansbury) is among those in attendance at a literary awards convention when murder strikes. The victim is a novelist who had showed up toting a rather volatile unpublished manuscript. Although Jessica is not among the suspects, one of her close friends is under suspicion, obliging her to do her trademarked surreptitious snooping. Unfortunately, this is a particularly difficult case, inasmuch as virtually everyone else at the convention had a motive for murder--and the clues are not only plentiful, but wildly contradictory! Ron Masak, later seen on Murder She Wrote in the semi-regular role of Sheriff Mort Metzger, is here cast as Lieutenant Meyer. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The title characters in this episode are two pretty but avaricious young ladies, a flight attendant and a nurse, who specialize in using their sexual wiles to entrap unwary males and "take" them for all they've got. Evidently the girls have gone one step too far with one of their victims, who has broken into their apartment and murdered them both. Stone (Karl Malden and Keller (Michael Douglas) follow the trail of clues to the home of an outwardly respectable married couple, jewelry salesman Arthur Lavery (Harold Gould) and his wife Edna (Barbara Baxley). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In order to raise extra money for her family, Betty Jo (Linda Kaye Henning) sets up a day nursery at the Shady Rest. Alas, her husband Steve (Mike Minor) is dead set against his wife going to work--and besides, those squalling infants are driving everyone crazy. This is the 222nd and final episode of Petticoat Junction, and it is clear throughout that none of the cast members were aware that the series was ending. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
