Popular movie star Lara Layne (Patricia Barry) is on the verge of wedding handsome Harry Lawrence (Robert Culp) when she is paid a visit by ex-convict George Cassidy (Stubby Kaye) -- who was himself married to Lara back when she was calling herself "Peaches." Lara is stunned by George's arrival, especially since he was reported to have died behind bars, but here he is, demanding a huge payoff to keep quiet. A struggles ensues, and Lara kills George, whereupon Harry valiantly volunteers to help her dispose of the body somewhere in Mexico, where the couple had planned to take a secret honeymoon. Unfortunately, she gets into the wrong car, and awakens somewhere in Mexico -- where she witnesses a murder. Thus does Loren find herself the object of two desperate searches: one conducted by her frantic parents, the other by the murderers. Suffering under the tyranny of his nasty boss, Sylvester Tupper (Wendell Holmes), investment broker Herbert J. Wiggam (Dick York) devises a scheme to get even -- and to make a profit in the bargain. Together with two other disgruntled employees, Wiggam steals a 565,000-dollar bond that has been delivered to the office. Alfred Hitchcock's long-running TV suspense anthology moved from NBC to CBS for its eighth season on the air, and in the process expanded from 30 to 60 minutes, necessitating a change in title from Alfred Hitchcock Presents to The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Gig Young guest stars in the first of these "hours" as Duke Marsden, businessman by day, high-rolling gambler by night. Although his wife, Alice (Martha Hyer), has threatened to leave him if he doesn't give up poker, Duke enters into a high-stakes game in order to save his younger brother, Chuck (Robert Redford), from catching the gambling bug himself. Prison warden Bragen (Edward Asner) can't understand why former convict and recent parolee Fred Riordan (R.G. Armstrong) would commit a minor crime which lands him back behind bars. Thinking that Fred simply isn't psychologically capable of living in the outside world, Bragen asks the man to tell him his story. It turns out that, once sprung, Fred had been ordered to commit a murder by a gangster named Tony Wando (Steven Peccaro) -- and the only way Fred could solve his dilemma was to give up his freedom again. Unfortunately, he meets a sexy young girl (Susan Silo) at a bar -- and by the time he leaves, his money is gone.
