Minerva Scelza Movies

Minerva Scelza first caught audiences' attention as Joey D'Annunzio in the classic 1980 comedy Caddyshack. The curly haired actress came from a theater-oriented family, and thusly found a lot of subsequent work on-stage. She returned to on creen acting in 2005, however, to appear in the critically acclaimed independent film Home. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

A few dozen would-be artists, writers, and filmmakers spend an evening exchanging ideas (and sometimes phone numbers) at a party in this independent comedy drama. It's Saturday night, and Bobby (E. Jason Liebrecht), an aspiring playwright, arrives at a brownstone in Brooklyn where a party is being thrown. Bobby doesn't really know anyone at the gathering besides Harper (Minerva Scelza), his former girlfriend who would prefer not to see him, but he has his eye on Susan (Nicol Zanzarella), a film editor who is hosting the bash with her roommate, Rose (Erin S. Visslailli). Harper has her eye on Tommy (Stephen T. Neave), a handsome but obnoxious salesman whose desire to talk is in inverse proportion to his ability to say anything interesting. Meanwhile, Bobby's efforts to impress Susan hit a snag with the arrival of Tomasz (Pavel Liska), her intellectual former flame. And as various singles attempt to become couples, one couple -- Josh and Annie (Bradley Spinelli and Jennifer Larkin) -- threatens to self-destruct as an argument from earlier in the evening begins to reignite. Home was the first feature film from writer and director Matt Zoller Seitz, best known as a film critic for the New York Press. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

When young Nicky Guzman (Enrique Monez) is accused of killing a drug dealer, public sympathy is very much on his side. This makes it difficult for the D.A.'s office to mount a successful case against Guzman. But things really get beyond the control of assistant D.A.'s Stone (Michael Moriarty) and Robinette (Richard Brooks) when Guzman engages the services of Chet Burton (J.D. Cannon), a flamboyant Texas defense lawyer with a long and unbroken string of courtroom victories. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The smash success Caddyshack became a prototype for countless other wacky T&A-tinged teen comedies of the early 1980s. At an exclusive country club for WASPish snobs, an ambitious young caddy (Michael O'Keefe) from an overpopulated home eagerly pursues a caddy scholarship in hopes of attending college and, in turn, avoiding a job at the lumber yard. In order to succeed, he must first win the favor of the elitist Judge Smails (Ted Knight), then the caddy golf tournament which the good judge sponsors. Of course, there are love interests as well -- one good, one naughty -- not to mention several foes he must vanquish along the way. The story itself serves to string along a series of slapstick scenes involving an obnoxious nouveau riche land developer (Rodney Dangerfield) who wants to turn the site into a condominium community; an oddball, Zen-quoting, millionaire slacker/golf ace (Chevy Chase); and a psychotic groundskeeper (Bill Murray) with a gopher-fixation. Caddyshack was a bona fide hit; throughout the '80s and '90s, director Harold Ramis would continue to create such hits as Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, and Analyze This. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi
