Director John Woodward highlights a semi-comic case of miscarried justice in this account of a true life incident in which an innocent woman was nearly imprisoned for offering discount table dances. When the Texas vice squad raids a small dance club, few could have seen the legal fiasco that was about to ensue. Now, bungled facts, questionable investigation methods, and high level corruption all combine to present a textbook example of criminal justice gone horribly awry. Now aware that she is slated to be Queen of the Underworld, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) dolefully resigns herself to her fate because she is still in love with the "possessed" Cole. Even so, Phoebe has not forgotten her obligations as a "Charmed One," which include the saving of an "innocent." When she does this, her Underworld subjects threaten to overthrow both herself and Cole unless Phoebe proves her loyalty by killing her sisters, Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Paige (Rose McGowan). In the future, all US Marshals are independent bounty hunters, including two-fisted Jake Randall (Jeffrey Meek). When he catches up with Lucy, Randall is told that she was framed by conspirators in cahoots with the evil Dr. Fong (Dennis Akayama), a marketer of illegal drugs who has created a virus to halt the aging process--and who is willing to sell his creation to the highest bidder, regardless of the virus' deadly side effects! Convinced that Lucy is telling the truth, Randall agrees to help her clear her name and thwart Dr. Fong, and as a result becomes a fugitive himself. The real-life story of Olympic diver Greg Louganis is chronicled in this made-for-television drama. Mario Lopez stars as Louganis, an adopted child who went through a difficult adolescence, only to emerge as a world-class diver in the 1988 Olympics. After a notorious diving injury during those games, Louganis went on to win two gold medals. After the games ended though, Louganis was forced to face an even more challenging period and go public with his homosexuality and deal with his HIV-positive status. Jack Moony (Bob Hoskins) is a vice detective, but he is also an intense and crazed, racist lout. Jack has had a brief fling with a hooker named Crystal (Chloe Webb), but Crystal left him for Napoleon Stone (Denzel Washington), a suave, handsome, cosmopolitan lawyer, who becomes the object of Jack's rage, not simply because he has stolen his girl but also because he is black. Jack, who lives on cheeseburgers, beer, and whiskey, has a heart attack. This occurs the same night that Stone is killed in an un-accidental car crash. Thanks to a quick organ transplant, Jake ends up with Stone's heart. But to Jack's horror, he discovers the ghost of the lawyer has returned to earth to follow Jack around -- offering Jack nutritional advise, giving him tips on solving his murder, and suggestions on how to get back together with Crystal. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Small-time crook Mickey Rourke is mockingly named Johnny Handsome because of his grotesquely deformed face. While in stir on a robbery rap, Rourke is knifed by convicts in the employ of his former partner--and now bitter enemy--Lance Henriksen. While in the prison hospital, Rourke is cared for by a kindly doctor (Forrest Whitaker), who believes that the key to Rourke's rehabilitation might be a literal change of face. Undergoing plastic surgery, Rourke emerges as virtually unrecognizable to everyone but the audience. Paroled, Rourke seems to be willing to follow a straight and narrow path. Seems to be.
