The Bollywood romantic drama Kya Love Story Hai witnesses the complications that befall Arjun (Tusshar Kapoor), a former architecture student who sank into a ne'er-do-well lifestyle and now whiles away his free hours indulging in drunken revelry and fritting away what little money he has with his libidinous buddies. His life turns a sharp corner when he falls headfirst in love with the gorgeous Kajal Mehra (Ayesha Takia). Alas, she insists on courtship and marriage to a fiscally affluent suitor, and this Arjun is not. Complicating matters is the fact that Arjun feels too cowardly to ever confess his feelings to the young woman. Saddened, he heads off to make a name for himself, but in the mean time, Kajal meets and becomes engaged to another man. Arjun then returns and must drum up the courage and resolve to pour out his heart and win the girl over. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Love and tragedy brings together two women ill-served by fate in this drama from writer and director Nagesh Kukunoor. Zeenat (Gul Kirit Panag) and Meera (Ayesha Takia) are two very different young women -- Zeenat is a independent-thinking Muslim who lives on her own and follows her own path in life, while Meera is a Hindu who is deeply devoted to her family and lives in the traditional manner. However, they do have some things in common; both are in love, both have recently married, and their husbands know one another. Zeenat has wed Aamir (Rushad Rana) and helps look after the home they share, while Meera has taken the hand of Shankar (Anirudh Jathkar) and lives with him at the home of his father. Eager to find better paying jobs, Aamir and Shankar travel to Saudi Arabia, but in time Zeenat and Meera receive shocking news -- Shankar is dead after he fell out of a window during a violent quarrel with Aamir, and Aamir will be executed for murder unless Meera is willing to sign a pardon agreement. However, Meera is no longer in a position to travel to travel to Saudi Arabia; her debt-ridden father in law has taken her jewels and her dowry, and may force her to become the lover of a wealthy man who is willing to pay for the privilege. Determined to find out the truth about what happened, Zeenat sets out to find Shankar's family; with little to go on, she turns to a street hustler named Beeroopiya (Shreyas Talpade) for help, though he proves to be less than reliable. Three neglected husbands get the job opportunity of a lifetime in this Bollywood musical comedy. Veer (Zayed Khan), Raj (Fardeen Khan), and Aryan (Sharman Joshi) are three close friends whose lives have taken a turn for the worst -- all three have lost their jobs, and all three have wives who are too busy with their own lives and careers to tend to their husbands in the bedroom. Diya (Esha Deol) is trying to launch her career in show business, Bhavna (Ayesha Takia) is obsessed with her spiritual side, and Sonia (Soha Ali Khan) is occupied with her law practice. Things are so grim for the husbands that they begin pondering suicide, but one Mr. Kothari (Satish Shah) comes to the rescue when he gives them jobs, and then asks a very special favor of them. Kothari has three beautiful daughters who all balk at the notion of having their father arrange marriages for them; to show them the folly of following their own hearts, Kothari wants the three husbands to woo and win the young ladies, and then break their hearts. Veer, Raj, and Aryan are happy to go along, but ending their relationships with the beautiful and willing women proves more difficult than they imagined, and the situation becomes stickier when the eligible bachelorettes strike up a friendship with the three betrayed wives. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
