Dr. Gregory Pelham (Peter Hobbs) specializes in discreetly treating high-profile alcoholics. This business reaps quite a profit, so much so that someone decides to cash in on it by kidnapping Pelham's son David (Tom Lowell) and holding him for ransom. As it turns out, the kidnapping is a hoax--but the murder of Joe Velvet (Ron Kennedy), for which Dr. Pelham is charged, is all too real. If ever there was a case for Perry Mason (Raymond Burr), this is it! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The 234th and final episode of Leave It to Beaver is also the series' first "clip show," comprised of highlights from the past six seasons. While doing a bit of cleaning around the house, June (Barbara Billingsley) comes across a little windup toy that belonged to Beaver (Jerry Mathers) and Wally (Tony Dow) when they were kids. This sets June and Ward (Hugh Beaumont) to reminiscing about the various adventures undertaken by their boys in their younger days. Before long, the older Cleavers are paging through a family scrapbook, full of photos conveniently taken at crucial points in several past episodes. (A question: who snapped the pictures, and how did they know that something funny was abut to happen?) Showcased in this episode are scenes from "Beaver Gets 'Spelled," "New Neighbors," "My Brother's Girl," "The Shave," "Beaver Runs Away," "Larry Hides Out," "Teacher Comes to Dinner," and "Wally's Election" (a clip from "Beaver and Andy" was removed just before this episode aired). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Wally (Tony Dow) balks when June (Barbara Billingsley) insists that he spend time with Dudley (Jimmy Hawkins), the son of one of her best friends. According to Wally, the geekish Dudley is the sort of kid that people want to trip or bump into just on general principles. Even so, Wally invites Dudley to a party at Mary Ellen Rogers' house, where Eddie (Ken Osmond) and Lumpy (Frank Bank) conspire to make the poor guy look as ridiculous as possible. Things take an unexpected turn when the power goes out, rendering the record player useless -- at which point Dudley calmly sits down at the piano, and.... ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Both Wally (Tony Dow) and Eddie (Ken Osmond) are up for a job at the local ice cream emporium, but it's Wally who lands the position. He also wins the adoring attention of the pretty girls who frequent the establishment, making Eddie mighty jealous. Hoping to get even, Eddie and Lumpy (Frank Bank) cook up a scheme whereby Wally will deliver six quarts of ice cream to the home of Mary Ellen Rogers (Pamela Baird) during a girls-only slumber party -- thereby incurring the wrath of Mary Ellen's father. In the episode's uproarious climax, Wally concludes that revenge is a dish best served cold (as cold as ice cream). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Wally (Tony Dow) tries to weasel out of attending a cotillion with Mary Ellen Rogers (Pamela Baird) -- not because he doesn't like her, but because he can't dance. Upon learning that Mary Ellen has signed them up for a cha-cha contest, a frantic Wally buys a dance record and spends his after-hours practicing in his bedroom. This, of course, is a source of great amusement for Beaver (Jerry Mathers), who is so merciless in his needling of poor Wally that he precipitates a potential disaster! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
