Ambitious journalist Robert Torres (Dougray Scott) travels from London to Spain in order to research controversial Opus Dei founder Josemaría Escrivá (Charlie Cox) for an upcoming book, but hits a dead end when his secretive father, Manolo (Wes Bentley), refuses to speak as an official source. Later, as Robert searches desperately for the answers, he discovers that his father and Josemaría grew up together in the same town, and forged a powerful friendship while attending seminary school together. But at some point their paths diverged; Manolo went to fight in the Spanish Civil War as Josemaría embraced his faith. When Manolo fell for a stunning revolutionary (Olga Kurylenko) who shunned his affections in favor of a powerful military man (Rodrigo Santoro), his fate was sealed by his uncontrollable rage. But it's never too late to forgive, and now if Manolo can accept the dark truth about his difficult past, he may have one last shot at redemption. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In finds him joining forces with Antonio Banderas for the first time in over 20 years. Banderas plays Dr. Robert Ledgard, a plastic surgeon who has invented a type of fake skin that is more durable than real skin. But he achieves this breakthrough with the assistance of Vera (Elena Anaya), a young woman he's keeping locked up in his mansion. The only person who knows about this unusual arrangement is his maid, Marilia (Marisa Paredes). But his secret, as well as additional sins of the past he's desperate to keep hidden, bubble to the surface when Marila's criminal son shows up with a gun, forces his way into Vera's room, and attempts to rape her. The Skin I Live In played at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

The Spanish-language psychodrama La Noche del Hermano (AKA The Night of the Brother, 2005) concerns two boys. Caught up in the throes of late adolescence and teetering on the cusp of adulthood, Jaime is still reeling from the malfeasance of his older sibling, Alex - a crime that promptly landed the young man behind bars. Meanwhile, on the outside, Jaime moves into the home of his grandfather and finds himself torn between two options: either taking responsibility for maintaining a vast (and productive) tract of land he has inherited, or selling the property to land developers. Naturally, when Alex learns of the inheritance, he demands a piece of it and begins to wield a deadly and disturbing level of control over Jaime's feelings and actions. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
