Gas-station owner Zack (Noble Willingham) is being pressured to sell out by a gang of crooks. Coming to Zack's aid, the members of the A-Team are surprised to learn that the man behind the skullduggery is infamous mob boss Sam Marlini (Marc Lawrence)--who was supposed to have been killed years earlier! Episode highlights include a flashback of sorts to Murdock's (Dwight Schultz) triumph on Wheel of Fortune, Hannibal's (George Peppard) female drag as a cleaning lady, and the climactic chase, involving an antique car that has been "borrowed" from the elusive Marlini. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Police officer Brian Taggart (Jack Kehoe) is targetted by the Internal Affairs division after an attempt to capture a gang of bank robbers goes awry, resulting in the needless death of a hostage. Charged with use of excessive force, Taggart begs Quincy (Jack Klugman) to defend him before the Police Hearing Board. Though none too keen on "cleansing" a loose-cannon cop against whom the evidence is apparently insurmountable, Quincy agrees to do what he can--if he can. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In The Man With Bogart's Face, an affectionate send-up of the Bogart detective films of the 1940s, Robert Sacchi plays a man who idolizes Humphrey Bogart so much he has his features altered to look exactly like his idol. He then opens up a detective agency under the name Sam Marlowe (an amalgam of the names of Bogart's characters from The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep). Sam hires the Duchess (Misty Rowe) as his secretary ("She looked like Marilyn Monroe and made about as much sense as Gracie Allen") and "Sam Marlowe, Private Eye" is in business. Sam gets a meager response until a shooting puts his picture in the paper and business starts to flourish. Particularly attracted to Marlowe's services are a collection of characters -- Gena (Michelle Phillips), an attractive Gene Tierney type; Commodore Anastas (Victor Buono), a Greek shipping tycoon and Sidney Greenstreet lookalike; and the mysterious Mr. Zebra (Herbert Lom doing a Peter Lorre imitation). They are all trying to find the famous Eyes of Alexander -- a priceless set of stones from a statue of Alexander the Great. Also on hand are old Hollywood pros George Raft, Yvonne DeCarlo and Mike Mazurki. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Mike Evans, who at the time this episode aired was also starring as Lionel on the CBS sitcom The Jeffersons, guest stars as Paul Hudson, a neurotic kid living in a tough ghetto neighborhood. After witnessing a murder, Paul promises to keep his mouth shut, providing that the killer find Paul a job with a notorious underworld organization. Will detectives Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) be able to save Paul from his new "friends"--and from himself? Intriguingly, Berlinda Tolbert, who later costarred with Mike Evans on The Jeffersons as Lionel's wife Jenny, also shows up in this episode. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This violent western tale finds Macho (David Janssen) as a Union Army regular in a Confederate prison. He escapes by planting dynamite in the coffin of an executed officer, making his move when the coffin is being carried outside the gate. He returns to a small town where he waits for Duffy (Lee J. Cobb), who put Macho in jail years before. Newlyweds Alexandra (Jean Seberg) and David (Carradine) arrive in town, and David heads to the saloon. The drunken one armed Confederate Army veteran is killed by Macho when he becomes drunk and belligerent. Alexandra puts a price on Macho's head, hiring two killers to finish him off. Macho kills them both and rapes a beaten up Alexandra, who falls in love with her attacker. He also gets revenge of Duffy by stringing him up by the neck on the windmill in the town square. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

Once again, Jason McCord (Chuck Connors) has a fateful brush with history when he save legendary journalist Horace Greeley (Burgess Meredith) from an assassination attempt. Impressed by Jason's courage, Greeley hires him as his "social secretary" (translation: bodyguard). Now it is up to Jason to find out who wants to kill the eminent newspaperman--and why. (Incidentally, if you're thinking that Horace Greeley will at some point in the story say something like "Go west, Young Man", chances are that you're right...and never mind that Greeley never actually uttered those words). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
