A pair of self-styled ghost chasers hunt for spirits in a run-down New England inn in this subtle thriller from director Ti West. The Yankee Pedlar Inn is a hotel in Torrington, CT, that's been welcoming guests for over a hundred years. However, not many have been stopping by lately, and the owners have chosen to shut it down. In the Yankee Pedlar's last weeks of operation, the staff have been reduced to just two people, Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy). Neither one is especially interested in hotel management, but they're both students of the supernatural: They've come to the Yankee Pedlar because it has a reputation for being haunted and they want to see for themselves if ghosts walk the halls before it's too late. The two spend their time searching the empty rooms for evidence of paranormal activity, which Luke will post on his website (if he ever finishes it), but they don't find much until an eccentric woman (Kelly McGillis) who shares their fascination with ghosts checks in. A man struggles to keep his family and himself together under trying circumstances in this independent drama from writer and director Richard Levine. Ned (Liev Schreiber) works as a writer for a television series, "Mercy Medical," and his job has become increasingly difficult as his producer Garrett (Eddie Izzard) demands increasingly outlandish storylines; Ned objects, but the new guy on the staff, Brian (David Harbour), is more than happy to deliver. At home, Ned's wife, Jeannie (Helen Hunt), is dividing her time between running a business and looking after her elderly father, Ernie (Brian Dennehy), whose uncertain temper is all the more precarious as his ill health has pushed him into suicidal depression. With Helen occupied with her dad's problems, Ned has to deal with their two sons, teenage Jonah (Ezra Miller), who has recently acknowledged his homosexuality, and younger Ethan (Skyler Fortgang), a talented musician deeply troubled by his grandfather's ill health. Meanwhile, as his home life becomes more chaotic, Ned is given a new writing partner, Robin (Carla Gugino), who is smart, sexy, and clearly attracted to him. The bittersweet pangs of first love among sixth graders sets the stage for this romantic comedy. Gabe (Josh Hutcherson) is an 11-year-old boy living on the more exclusive side of New York City; his parents, Adam (Bradley Whitford) and Leslie (Cynthia Nixon), are splitting up, and as their marriage slowly crumbles, they've both become increasingly protective of their son. While most of Gabe's friends are still firmly in the "girls are yucky" stage, Gabe has found his head turned by Rosemary (Charlie Ray), a cute girl in his karate class. Negotiating the tricky waters of impressing the opposite sex for the first time, Gabe works up the nerve to ask Rosemary out on a date, and in time the two begin spending their spare time together. But just when Gabe feels ready to tackle the next step and tell Rosemary that he's in love with her, he learns that she'll be spending the summer away at camp, meaning he'll have to spend his vacation pining for her. Meanwhile, as Gabe turns to Adam for advice, Adam begins taking another look at where his relationship with Leslie went sour.
