In an episode clearly inspired by Serpico, Stone (Karl Malden) is temporarily partnered with flamboyant, iconoclastic undercover narcotics cop Al Wozynsky (Tony Lo Bianco) while his usual partner Keller (Michael Douglas) is recovering from gunshot wounds incurred during a skirmish with drug pushers. Though Wozynsky seems to be getting results with his unorthodox "lone wolf" methods, Stone suspects that there's something not quite right about his new partner--in fact, there's every possibilty that Wozynsky is in the pocket of the drug kingpins. Prolific voiceover actor Vic Perrin (the "control voice" on the original Outer Limits) delivers a compelling cameo as Woyznsky's father in this final episode of Streets of San Francisco's third season. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Brock Peters plays the central figure in this story, a man charged by Stone (Karl Malden) and Keller (Michael Douglas) with a murder that he didn't commit. Unfortunately, once he surrenders his fingerprints to the authorities, he will be exposed as the same person who ran away from a homicide investigation 25 years earlier. Based on the long-running Broadway play by Dennis Reardon, The Happiness Cage, a multinational filmmaking effort, is a drama about medical experimentation in the U.S. military. The experiment is a brain operation which removes pain, replacing it either with bliss or sensual satisfaction. It is at first attempted on terminal cancer patients, but finally the doctors receive permission to test the procedure on a healthy but thoroughly obnoxious subject (Christopher Walken). ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
