Two iconic monsters face off in a battle of good against evil in this witty homage to classic horror films of the '40s and '50s. Dr. Monroe Lazaroff (Larry Butler) is an eccentric scientist who lives in a secluded manor on the California coast with his beautiful assistant, Dr. Ula Foranti (Alison Lees-Taylor) and their disfigured helper, Salisbury (Rich Knight). One of Lazaroff's most recent experiments went terribly wrong, and resulted in a strange humanoid amphibian creature that escaped into the ocean. Hoping to come up with a new way to battle terrorists, Lazaroff and his crew travel to the nation of Shellvania and recover the remains of the monster created by Dr. Frankenstein. Lazaroff and company return home with the monster just in time to receive the bad news that the amphibian beast they created has not only survived in the ocean, but has been responsible for the death of a handful of surfers and pin-up models. Knowing that he must take responsibility for his handiwork, Lazaroff begins teaching the Frankenstein monster to battle the Blood Cove creature before it can kill again. Written and directed by vintage horror fan William Winckler, Frankenstein Vs. the Creature from Blood Cove features cameo appearances from Lloyd Kaufman, Ron Jeremy, and Raven De La Croix. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A superheroine who proves the old adage that "it's what up front that counts" takes on bad guys and gals in this over-the-top comedy. Chastity Knott (Kitten Natividad) is the owner of a saloon which had been taking a lot of business away from a nearby watering hole run by cranky Al Purplewood (Larry Butler). Purplewood is trying to find a way to drive Knott out of business, but she has problems of her own to deal with when she learns she has breast cancer (no small problem for her). Knott is told that the rare Crockozilla plant has remarkable healing powers and to her surprise it not only cures her cancer, it gives her super powers. Just in time, too, because Purplewood has told the strippers who work at his joint to wipe out Knott once and for all. Transforming herself into the Double-D Avenger, Knott takes on the heavily armed band of exotic dancers (among them Haji, Raven De La Croix, and Sherri Dawn Thomas) and tries to restore order to her community. The Double-D Avenger also features Famous Monsters of Filmland editor Forrest J. Ackerman in a supporting role as a caretaker at a museum. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Jonathan Kaplan directs this drama which grafts a nostalgic mood piece with a race-to-the-finish road movie. Lurene Hallett (Michelle Pfeiffer) is an insulated middle-class wife living in Texas in the early 1960s who adores the Kennedys, particularly Jackie, whom she feels is a kindred soul. When she finds out the President and First Lady will be in Dallas on November 22, 1963, she races to the airport to greet the couple. Just missing them, she drives through the Dallas streets and notices a quiet chaos developing. When she finds out John Kennedy has been assassinated, Lureen is determined to get to Washington to be with Jackie for the funeral. When her redneck husband Ray (Brian Kerwin) refuses to give her the car, she gets on a bus, where she meets a black man named Johnson (Dennis Haysbert), with his five-year-old daughter Jonell (Stephanie McFadden). Lureen speaks continually about Kennedy and the rest of the black occupants of the bus roll their eyes. But after an accident with the bus, Lureen uncovers the fact that Mr. Johnson's real name is Cater, and he has kidnapped his daughter from an orphanage and is heading to Philadelphia. With the cops on their tail, the trio steals a car and race northward with the police in pursuit, Lureen hoping to make to Washington in time for Kennedy's funeral. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide
