A computer programmer whose love for internet porn just cost him his latest girlfriend struggles to keep his sexual hang-up in check while ensuring that his company doesn't go dark during the Y2K changeover in director Cameron Leabine's kinky romantic dot-comedy. The year is 1999. Lewis (Tyler Labine) is a computer programmer whose appetite for internet smut is insatiable - a peccadillo that doesn't go unrecognized by his neglected girlfriend Sarah (Laura Bertram). Upon being dumped by Sarah, Lewis finds his sexual addition becoming much more tactile. Now that there's no flesh to interfere, Lewis is free to become more intimate with his silicon sweetheart than ever before. But the man known as "Magneto" to his online friends is about to find his burgeoning digital romance interrupted thanks to more pressing issues at work. Lewis has been recruited to prepare his department for Y2K, and should he fail the entire East Coast could be left in the dark. As the dawn of the new millennium approaches, the perverse programmer finds himself increasingly attracted to some of the newer models around the office. In order to avert any direct suspicion, Lewis asks new office receptionist Jane (Sonja Bennett) out on a date. A woman faced with a tragedy discovers the man she loved was not all she imagined him to be in this romantic comedy-drama. Grey (Jennifer Garner) was a beautiful woman who found the man of her dreams in Grady Douglas, and was looking forward to spending the rest of her life with him until he suddenly died only a few days before they were to be married. With her wedding turned into an impromptu funeral, Grey is emotionally devastated but has to deal with the practicalities of her new life alone, including moving out of the house she shared with Grady. Short on cash and in need of emotional support, Grey moves in with two longtime friends, sloppy but philosophical Sam (Kevin Smith) and well-meaning but tightly wound Dennis (Sam Jaeger). Grey also finds herself often chatting with Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), Grady's best friend, through she's always regarded him as a sleazeball. As time passes, Grey discovers that Grady had a secret life he never shared with her -- including a young son from a previous relationship -- and as she tries to come to terms with the past of her former fiancé, she struggles to put her new life on track, and finds herself reevaluating her long-held feelings about Fritz. A self-absorbed slugger whose egotistical attitude threatens to bring the whole team down gets a second chance at learning the value of teamwork in the third installment of the kid-friendly Sandlot series. Tommy Santorelli (Luke Perry) is a Major League Baseball star whose impressive stats have gone to his head. One day, while stepping up to the plate for another home run hit, Tommy is beamed by a speeding fastball that knocks him clean unconscious. Awakening to discover that he has been mysteriously transported back to the scrappy sandlot where he first discovered his love of the game, 12-year-old Tommy is forced to work with his fellow players to save their favorite diamond from unscrupulous real-estate developer Earl Needman (Paul Jarrett). If Tommy's ragtag team can beat Needman's formidable group of miniature super-athletes, the sandlot will be theirs fair and square; if Tommy and company lose the game, however, they can kiss their favorite place to run the bases goodbye forever. In a 1950s-era alternate universe where domesticated zombies play a functional role in society by delivering the milk, carrying the mail, and even helping out with household chores, one boy is about to find out just how big of a personal responsibility "pet" ownership truly is. When the Earth passed through a cloud of space dust and the dead arose from their graves to devour the flesh of the living, it first seemed that all hope for humanity was lost. Society's rapid slide into chaos, however, was soon halted when scientists at a company called ZomCom created a special collar that turned the rampaging animated corpses docile. Now, thanks to ZomCom, everything is under control -- or is it? Timmy Robinson (K'Sun Ray) isn't quite convinced. Quiet and withdrawn, the skeptical young boy spends so much time locked away in his room that he's almost become invisible around the household. His mother Helen (Carrie-Anne Moss) has recently purchased a zombie to help keep things tidy around the house though, and when the creature attempts to engage the curious youngster in a game of catch, a friendship is forged between boy and zombie that finds the amiable gut-muncher nicknamed Fido (Billy Connolly) practically becoming a part of the family. Things take a turn for the worse however, when Fido's collar malfunctions and Timmy's neighbors begin dying in droves. A reporter unexpectedly gets a personal perspective on a legendary show-business story in this adaptation of Rupert Holmes' novel, scripted and directed by noted Canadian independent filmmaker Atom Egoyan. In the mid-'50s, Lanny Morris (Kevin Bacon) and Vince Collins (Colin Firth) were a wildly popular comedy team who suddenly and unexpectedly broke up at the peak of their popularity. Fifteen years after Morris and Collins called it quits, journalist Karen O'Connor (Alison Lohman), who has earned a reputation for her celebrity exposés, wants to write about the true story of what happened with Morris and Collins -- and to her surprise, her publisher tells her Collins has agreed to co-author the book for a cool million dollars. The only catch is that Collins has to tell the full truth about a very large skeleton in the team's closet -- a beautiful naked woman was found drowned in the bathtub of Morris and Collins' hotel suite shortly before they broke up the act, and while the comics were cleared of any wrongdoing, rumors about the incident followed them for years. As O'Connor and Collins complete their book, they learn to their surprise that Morris has opted to write a book of his own about the team's career; eager to learn what Morris has to say, O'Connor meets him posing as a schoolteacher, and soon falls into an unexpected romantic relationship with him. O'Connor soon finds herself playing two sides against one another as she tried to learn the truth about two men with dark and scandalous pasts. A teenage girl still reeling from the death of her mother finds a novel means of venting her anger in the feature directorial debut from filmmaker Guy Bennett. It's been years since Ariel's (Sonja Bennett) mother died in a tragic accident, and ever since that fateful day, the increasingly troubled girl has isolated herself from society while forming an unhealthy fixation on her devastated father, Sam (Michael Riley). When Sam invites Mary (Marcia Laskowski) over for his first date in years, Ariel explodes -- attacking her father's frightened guest in a jealous rage. Debuting over the CTV network on January 23, 1998, the hour-long Canadian drama series Cold Squad was a precursor in both style and substance to the American weekly Cold Case. The series involved the concerted efforts of a dedicated Vancouver detective unit to reopen and (hopefully) solve unsolved murder cases, some of them several decades old. Julie Stewart headed the cast as Sgt. Ali McCormick, the unofficial head of the squad. There was a great deal of personnel turnover during the series' seven seasons on the air, with a complete supporting-cast overhaul at the beginning of Season Three (see the huge cast list below). The winner of eight Gemini Awards, the 98-episode Cold Squad ended its Canadian run on June 4, 2005; it was picked up for syndication in the United States on September 15, 2006. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
