Connections made and missed form the foundation of this drama following the journeys of eight haunted Londoners in search of redemption. Jim is throwing watermelons off of a rooftop in preparation for a possible suicide when he spies Sue standing on an adjacent rooftop. She, too, is pondering a fatal plunge, and when Jim catches up to her they attempt to find another way out than straight down. Meanwhile, Sue's ex-boyfriend Dean has hit a creative slump. His paintings panned and his poetry eviscerated by critics, Dean is in search of a muse when he meets Gina, the experimental prostitute who lives next door. But Gina doesn't come free for anyone, and Dean quickly discovers that getting a new muse can go both ways. In the wake of a past fling with Dean, Olly is wrestling with his sexual identity. Assigned the task of watching after his deaf-mute brother Chris for the day, Olly discovers that his sibling is completely comfortable with his own homosexuality, and the duo set out on a quest through London's gay community in order to help Chris lose his virginity. On those very same streets walks Pete, a tormented former drug addict with many secrets. Carol watches Pete's every move from afar, hoping that he will eventually lead her to her long lost son, a man Pete used to know back in his violent drug days. Over time, Pete opens up to Carol, and the pair set out into the darkness in search of her son. Shrooms director Paddy Breathnach returns to terrify horror hounds with this supernatural shocker about a dangerous loner who falls into a deep coma, and travels out of body to seek revenge against his tormentors. Later, when remorseful trainee Catherine Thomas attempts to revive Kenneth by administering an experimental drug cocktail designed especially for coma patients, she inadvertently sets off a horrifying series of events that will put the lives of both herself and her fellow students in grave danger. Tim Plester wrote, directed and stars in this short comedy about the ups and downs of both love and communication. A British man (Plester) is in love with a woman from Scandinavia (Myanna Buring). The language barrier between them proves to be emotional was well as verbal, and we're given access though their inner thoughts through subtitles as they break up, reconcile and generally try to understand one another. A group of close female friends on a yearly adventure vacation find themselves trapped and hunted in a series of caves by an unknown force that lurks in the shadows in The Descent, the second horror feature from Dog Soldiers writer/director Neil Marshall. After suffering a devastating car crash one year before, Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) is lured to the States with her friend Beth (Alex Reid) to a special spelunking trip by the fearless Juno (Natalie Mendoza), who abruptly fled from the U.K. after Sarah's accident. Along with two old friends and a new acquaintance of Juno's, the group embark on a cave expedition that takes a turn for the worse after a rock fall leaves them stranded in an uncharted cave with no map and only a handful of supplies to last them the rest of the trip. As tensions arise in the group, they are faced with another danger -- one whose love of the dark is as strong as its lust for blood. Opening to rave reviews in the U.K. in July of 2005, the creature-feature went on to show at the Venice Film Festival and garnered the top prize for Euro feature at Sweden's Fantastic Film Festival.
