Moon Bloodgood Movies

An aspiring singer/songwriter who was collaborating with Paul Anka at the time she was approached to audition for a guest role in the hit NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me, Moon Bloodgood would eventually win the role, and subsequent appearances on CSI and Monk followed in quick succession. Though the exotic Korean/Irish/Dutch actress went on to find her footing on the big screen with supporting roles in such features as A Lot Like Love, Moonlight Serenade, and Eight Below, it wasn't until she co-starred as the Native American Starfire in director Marcus Nispel's Pathfinder that she really began to shine.
Back on the small screen, Bloodgood made a splash in the innovative police detective series Day Break, playing Rita Shelten, the girlfriend of protagonist Detective Brett Hopper (Taye Diggs). In the style of Groundhog Day mixed with the thriller aspects of 24, the wrongly accused Hopper repeatedly suffered the same day, desperately trying to prevent Rita from dying each time the day restarted. Unfortunately, the series didn't catch on with the public, but Bloodgood was soon at work again on another creative, sci-fi-tinged primetime series in fall 2007: Journeyman. That show followed the travails of a man (Kevin McKidd) who begins to time travel unwittingly, eventually running into his presumed-dead first love, Livia (Bloodgood), who is actually alive and well, and also a fellow time-traveler. Though the series garnered a modest but dedicated audience, it wasn't enough for the show to make it past its first season. Bloodgood was soon back onscreen, however, appearing in the Barry Levinson-directed comedy drama What Just Happened? opposite an impressive cast that included Robert De Niro, Stanley Tucci, Sean Penn, and John Turturro. She also booked roles in two high-profile films for 2009, Andrzej Bartkowiak's video game adaptatation Street Fighter and the latest installment of the Terminator franchise, Terminator Salvation. She appeared in the searing psychological drama Beautiful Boy in 2010, as well as the 2012 Sundance Audience Award winner The Sessions. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Inspired by the personal memoirs of Hollywood producer Art Linson, Barry Levinson's fictional showbiz comedy stars Robert De Niro as a struggling movie producer who has just suffered through his second divorce, and slowly finds his soul being ground up in the machinations of the Hollywood machine. Ben (De Niro) is an aging producer whose career was already on a downward turn when his personal life went straight into the toilet. Not only is Ben juggling two ex-wives and a daughter who seems to have grown up overnight, but his colleagues seem to take pleasure in watching him suffer while he attempts to complete his latest film on an impossible schedule.

"Fiercely" was supposed to be the visionary movie that revived Ben's career, but drug-addicted director Jeremy (Michael Wincott) has clashed with uncompromising studio chief Lou (Catherine Keener) following a disastrous test screening, and now it appears as if not even Sean Penn's presence in the film will be enough to make it a box-office hit. Meanwhile, Ben's ex-wife Kelly (Robin Wright Penn) can't seem to decide if she loves him or hates him, and his teenage daughter, Zoe (Kristen Stewart), has gone from playing with Barbie dolls to flirting with boys in the blink of a heavily mascaraed eye. As if that wasn't enough for one man to take in, screenwriter Scott (Stanley Tucci) is trying to broker a deal with Ben while simultaneously making a play for his former wife, and nebbish agent Dick (John Turturro) is so terrified of his own clients that he can't even ask Bruce Willis to shave his scraggly new beard for an upcoming role. It's all just another day in the world of runaway egos, treachery, betrayal, and deceit that is Hollywood, and if Ben can just make it to Cannes with a finished film under his arm and his sanity in tact, everything might just work out after all. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A more somber spin on the Quantum Leap time-travel formula, NBC's Journeyman starred Kevin McKidd, late of the internationally popular miniseries Rome, as Dan Vasser, who thanks to a mysterious wrinkle in the cosmic continuum was forever vanishing into thin air and jumping backward in time. Dan's abrupt disappearances in The Present were a source of great bewilderment to his wife Katie (Gretchen Egolf)--who suspected that his lengthy absences were due to a secret drug habit--and to his son Zack (Charles Henry Wyson), his police officer brother Jack (Reed Diamond) and his boss Hugh (Brian Howe). On Dan's part, he couldn't help but notice that his forays into the Past always took place within his own range of experience, and always ended up benefiting someone with whom he was acquainted in the Present. Further confusing Jack were the frequent materializations of his lost love Livia (Moon Bloodgold), who had died in a 1998 plane crash--and who, when Jack tried to prevent this tragedy, sternly warned him NOT to try to change history (and kept issuing that same warning whenever and wherever she showed up). Journeyman debuted September 24, 2007. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The sole survivor of a Viking "dragon" vessel shipwrecked on the eastern shores of the New World 15 years ago provides the only hope for the a Native American tribe faced with certain destruction by Norse berserkers in director Marcus Nispel's (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) dark action adventure. Reared by the Wampanoag tribe following a failed attempt by the Vikings to raid coastal villages for slaves, a ten-year-old shipwreck survivor is nicknamed "Ghost" by his adoptive tribe due to his pale complexion and blond hair. Legend says that death and destruction will follow the boy wherever he travels, yet the peaceful people of the Wampanoag tribe selflessly take the frightened child in as if he is one of their own. Over the course of the following decade, the adopted young Norseman eventually grows into a strong warrior (Karl Urban) determined to prove his worth to the people he calls family. When the rampaging Vikings return to the New World to rain destruction down on the Native Americans and to claim the fertile land of the peaceful people, Ghost finds himself in the precarious position of having to stop his own people from destroying his village and ruthlessly slaughtering the woman he loves (Moon Bloodgood). Now, as Ghost's true destiny is revealed by the powerful shaman known as the Pathfinder (Russell Means), the fearless warrior sets out to stage a savage one-man war on the marauding Vikings and become the savior once prophesied to defend the Wampanoag people in their darkest hour. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The surrealistic ABC cop drama Day Break was aptly characterized by most observers as "24 Meets Groundhog Day." Taye Diggs starred as police detective Brett Hopper, whom when first we met him had just endured the worst day of his life, culminating in his arrest for the murder of Assistant District Attorney Alberto Garza. Although he had an airtight alibi, Hopper was unable to convince anyone of his innocence, suggesting that his arrest was part of a conspiratorial frame-up. While being aggressively grilled by homicide detectives Spivak (Mitch Pileggi) and Choi (Ian Anthony Dale), Hopper suddenly lost consciousness, awakening in an other-worldly hideaway presided over by a sinister shadowy figure (Jonathan Banks) -- who "entertained" the protagonist by showing a tape in which Hopper's girlfriend Rita Shelten (Moon Bloodgood) died horribly.

At this point, Hopper was whisked back in time to the morning of his "worst day," only to find that he was condemned to live that same day over and over again until he was able to change its outcome. Alas, no matter how hard he tried to alter events, the day ended inexorably with his being arrested for murder and his witnessing of Rita's demise. Moreover, when the day started over again, Hopper found that the decisions he made during his previous "reliving" had had profound and disturbing consequences. In each episode, Hopper (the only person who knew that he and everyone around was trapped within the same ever-repeating time arc) was armed with knowledge he hadn't previously possessed, along with vital clues as to why all this was happening to him. Other players in this déjà vu nightmare were Hopper's partner, Andrea Battle (Victoria Pratt), who may or may not have been in on the conspiracy; his ex-partner (and Rita's ex-husband) Chad Shelten (Adam Baldwin), head of Internal Affairs and apparently a man with more than his share of dark secrets; Hopper's sister, Jennifer (Meta Golding), whose miserable domestic life weighed heavily on the plotline; and alleged gang leader Damien Ortiz (Ramon Rodriguez), who turned out to be even more a victim of circumstance than the hero. Created by Paul Zbyszewski, Day Break first aired on November 15, 2006. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Eight brave sled dogs search for the master who is looking for a way to rescue them in this adventure drama. An American geologist (Bruce Greenwood) flies to Antarctica to participate in a project at the United States Research Base, where he teams up with arctic guide Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker) and his best friend, Cooper (Jason Biggs). The scientist soon discovers that Shepard also has eight other valuable friends -- a pack of sled dogs he's worked with for years, who have rescued him from a number of tight spots. As the three men explore a frozen mountain region, an unexpected accident coupled with a massive storm front forces them to fly to safety, leaving the dogs behind. Shepard is determined to rescue his canine friends, but he has to wait until the weather will allow him to travel back to the mountain, while the dogs struggle against the elements to survive as they attempt to make their way back home.
