Marshall Allman Movies

With his wavy, jet-black locks and photogenic, freckled countenance, American actor Marshall Allman suggested a cross between a young Patrick Duffy and a young Timothy Hutton. Like Duffy, Allman made his first significant mark on television. Early on, he landed a string of guest appearances on a host of series programs, including Without a Trace, Malcolm in the Middle, The Practice, and Boston Public. Allman segued into features at a low ebb, with a turn in the slasher picture Shallow Ground (2004), following that up with the slightly more noble and respected Bruce Willis actioner Hostage (2005). Allman then headlined the gentle coming-of-age comedy drama Dishdogz (2006), about the apprenticeship of a down-and-out skateboarder. The actor is most commonly recognized, however, for his portrayal of L.J. Burrows Jr., son of prison detainee Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), on Fox's exciting serialized drama Prison Break (2005). Marshall Allman is of no immediate relation to rockers Gregg or Duane Allman. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

A cop looking for a quieter way of life is thrown into the most dangerous crisis of his life in this thriller based on the novel by Robert Crais. Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis) used to be a hostage negotiator with the Los Angeles Police Department, but after a standoff goes horribly wrong, Talley moves himself and his family to a small, quiet town of Bristo Camino, where he serves as chief of police. When three young criminals attempt to steal a car from a wealthy accountant, the situation quickly spins out of control and the thieves are trapped inside the heavily fortified home, taking the accountant and his family hostage. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department soon arrives on the scene, and Talley eagerly hands over the situation to them, but when he unexpectedly finds himself in telephone contact with one of the children inside, he begins to suspect that the cops are in over their heads. After he's approached by a masked stranger who has an agenda of his own, Talley is forced to decide if he should protect the safety of the family in the house or his own wife and kids. Hostage was the first English-language film from director Florent Emilio Siri. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A young boy looking to escape the day-to-day drudgery of his soul-sucking summer job finds out just how rewarding a little hard work can be in this pavement-surfing coming of age drama featuring real-life thrashers Tony Alva, Ryan Shcekler, and Andy MacDonald. Kevin was sick and tired of busting his back to make a buck in the summer heat. Upon learning that an extreme Summer Camp is looking to assemble a competent kitchen crew, Kevin applies for the job thinking just how much fun it will be spending his down time on the half-pipe. While the heat in the kitchen is searing, however, it can't hold a candle to the infernal competition to be the best half-pipe skater in the whole camp. Now, with both his reputation and the affections of the prettiest girl around (Haylie Duff) on the line, this sudsy skater will team up with the dish-scrubbing street sharks known as the Dishdogz to take part in the air-grabbing competition to be the best skater in the whole camp. But there are plenty of dishes to be washed before the fun starts, and as Kevin contends with his temperamental new boss Tony (Luke Perry) an old school secret is revealed that could still hold relevant for the newest generation of skaters. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Shrek and Fiona's (Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, respectively) fairy-tale wedding has gone off without a hitch, yet just as the beaming newlyweds prepare to enjoy their blissful "happily ever after," the sudden death of King Harold (John Cleese) finds everyone's favorite ornery ogre being reluctantly fitted for the royal crown. Troubled to learn that not only will he be compelled to rule Far Far Away, but that he and Fiona are also expecting a little ogre, Shrek determines to track down his new bride's rebellious cousin, Artie (Justin Timberlake) -- the one true heir to the throne -- in order to focus on fatherhood without the added distraction of having to preside over the kingdom. As Shrek sets out with faithful companions Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) to locate the medieval high-school slacker and bring him back to become the reigning sovereign of Far Far Away, handsome snake Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) slithers back to the castle in the company of the dreaded Captain Hook (Ian McShane) to stage a diabolically timed coup and assume control of the throne. Now, as Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots do their best to wrangle up the feisty Artie, Fiona must enlist the aid of fighting princesses Snow White (Amy Poehler), Sleeping Beauty (Cheri Oteri), Rapunzel (Maya Rudolph), and Cinderella (Amy Sedaris) to barricade the castle and fend off Prince Charming's invading army of fairy-tale villains until her beloved husband can return with the cavalry to save the day. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
