When CBS greenlighted the half-hour sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine, it was with the fervent hope that series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus would be the one to break the "Seinfeld" curse that had doomed the actress' Seinfeld colleagues to an embarrassing plethora of DOA TV-series projects. Louis-Dreyfus was cast as Christine, a divorced mother and the owner of Thirty Minutes to Bloom, a quick-turnover workout gym designed for busy professional women. Although Christine enjoyed a friendly relationship with her ex-husband, Richard (Clark Gregg), this status quo was in danger of going south in a hurry when Richard began dating a much-younger woman (Emily Rutherfurd), also named Christine (hence the series' title). Meanwhile, the "old" Christine was carrying on a war of nerves with Marly (Tricia O'Kelley) and Lindsay (Alex Kapp Horner), the pretentious and snobbish room parents at the expensive private school where Christine's son, Ritchie (Trevor Gagnon), was enrolled. Also featured was Hamish Linklater as the series' intended "breakout" character, Christine's slacker brother, Matthew. Created by Kari Lizer, The New Adventures of Old Christine debuted March 13, 2006, with two separate episodes. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In this TV sitcom, Maggie Winters (Faith Ford), after a bitter divorce, returns home to Shelbyville, Indiana, where she was once voted "most likely to succeed." She finds former BMOC Tom (Brian Haley) is now a bartender with a case of arrested development, and her gal-pal Robin (Jenny Robertson) is busy filling cribs with babies. Maggie turns to her old high-school flame Bobby (Vincent Ventresca). Filmed in L.A., this series premiered September 30, 1998 on CBS. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide

This explains how Murphy came to join a group of new mothers who are dedicated to such old-school customs as singing nursery songs and playing games with their offspring. Of course, it doesn't take long for Murphy and the other moms to get on each other's nerves in a spectacular fashion. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Fans love TV legend Andy Griffith as Benjamin Matlock, the southern defense attorney who may charge big prices but always outsmarts the city slicker attorneys with his homespun tactics. Whenever someone needs protection, Atlanta's most brilliant legal mind will do whatever is necessary -- once he sets down his guitar! Season 2 costars Nancy Stafford as Ben's new junior partner, Michelle Thomas; Kari Lizer as assistant Cassie Phillips; and Kene Holliday as private investigator Tyler Hudson. This six-disc set contains all 23 episodes from Matlock's Season 2 (1987-88), including the two-hour premiere, "The Billionaire," set in London, where Ben first meets Michelle. "Gotcha!" is a puerile but popular campus game at UCLA in which students stalk one another armed with paint-spewing pellet guns. Veterinary student Anthony Edwards may not be any great shakes in the classroom, but he's a whiz at Gotcha. His skills come in handy when Edwards, on vacation in Paris, becomes acquainted with the mysterious Linda Fiorentino. She gets him mixed up in international espionage; fortunately, the well-armed spies aren't quite as adept at "Gotcha" as Edwards is. Most of the film was lensed in Paris and Berlin. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Three of the hallmarks of education in America -- nudity, teenage sex, and big, destructive gags -- are on plentiful display in this teen comedy. Christine (Phoebe Cates), a student at an exclusive all-girls private school, is in love with Jim (Matthew Modine), who attends an academy for boys nearby. Christine's archrival Jordan (Betsy Russell) also has her eye on Jim, and she is willing to do whatever she can to steal him away. Jim's über-slob buddy Bubba (Michael Zorek) is going with Betsy (Kathleen Wilhoite), Christine's cynical friend, though he would probably be unfaithful if any other woman were willing to get near him. Bubba and his pals sneak into the girls' school dressed in drag in hopes of reaching the Promised Land (better known as the women's shower room), while Christine and Jim run away together for the weekend, though their escapade isn't as romantic as they had hoped. Among the adults observing the chaos are Ray Walston, Fran Ryan, Martin Mull, and Sylvia Kristel; one of the sexy students on display is future scream queen Brinke Stevens. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
