A Latin-American mother scours the streets of New York City for three decades in search of her missing son in this harrowing drama from director Hernan Herrera. Carmen Gonzalez was fleeing the Columbian gangsters who killed her husband when she entered the US in 1979. Desperate to give her infant son Mateo a fighting chance at life, she made her way to New York City and checked into a run-down motel. But Carmen's nightmare was only beginning, because the same night she and her son arrived in the city, Mateo was taken from her in the blink of an eye. Over the course of the next three decades, the heartbroken Carmen never gave up hope that somewhere on the streets of Queens, she be reunited with her beloved son. Every night she would pray to the Virgin Carmen, and every morning she would start her search all over again. Supporting herself though work as a live-in maid, Carmen eventually lost her job, and fell in with a couple who took horrible advantage of her tragic situation. But sometimes hope can come when you least expect it, and after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Carmen is admitted to a hospital where she is placed in the care of a kindly young doctor named Mateo whose sympathetic eyes look strangely familiar. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

As they embark on their journey, both young men come of age and find their individual world views broadened farther than they ever expected. The Motorcycle Diaries premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi
