A boy reeling with an unexpected loss deals with his grief in his own way in this short, stylized drama from filmmaker Jamie Travis. Aaron (William Cuddy) is an eleven-year-old boy who invites his best friend Tony over to his house after school. While playing hide and seek, Tony hides a bit too well -- Aaron can't find him, and when he doesn't come home, his parents begins frantically searching for him. When Tony is declared missing, Aaron is crushed, and begins retreating into a world of his own, often hiding in the armoire in his room as he tries to make sense of Tony's disappearance while keeping the secrets of their friendship. The Armoire was the final film in what director Travis has called "The Saddest Children In The World Trilogy," following Why The Anderson Children Didn't Come To Dinner and The Saddest Boy In The World. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A curious little boy decides he's had all the bad luck he can take in this darkly comic short subject. While most kids look forward to their birthday, Timothy Higgins (Benjamin B. Smith) isn't the least bit happy about the fact he's about to turn nine, and he's dreading the party his parents are throwing for him. As it happens, Timothy has good reason to be depressed -- he lost his dog, he's been abducted by kidnappers, he's humiliated on a regular basis during gym class and his best friend has been kicked out of the country, among other travails -- and rather than wonder what sort of presents he'll be getting, Timothy ponders ways of doing himself in on his big day. Written and directed by Jamie Travis, the fourteen-minute The Saddest Boy In The World received enthusiastic notices at the 2007 Slamdance and South by Southwest film festivals, and won awards in 2006 at the Calgary International Film Festival and the Atlantic Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Two former college rivals team up to start a lucrative business while sharing a New York apartment in this comedy from director Jamie Travis. Back in school, Lauren (Lauren Anne Miller) and Katie (Ari Graynor) had a love/hate relationship. Years later, Lauren is recovering from a messy break-up, and Katie is living in her late grandmother's apartment when the rent control runs out. In order to avoid losing the apartment, Katie invites Lauren to move in and help out with the payments. Fate intervenes, however, when Katie becomes fed up with Lauren's boisterous bedroom antics, and learns that her new roommate has a naughty side that could earn them both some quick cash. With Lauren in charge of the business and Katie catering to the clients, the mismatched pair launch a phone-sex line that quickly proves a smashing success. Justin Long, Mark Webber, and Nia Vardalos co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
