Jason Vorhees returns to the big screen in this Platinum Dunes remake that nixes the original's conceit that Mrs. Vorhees was the killer in order to give more screen time to her hockey-masked murderous son, who will once again haunt the cursed campgrounds of Crystal Lake. Freddy vs. Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the screenplay, with Pathfinder director Marcus Nispel handling the directing duties. When the lone survivor of the original excursion to The House on Haunted Hill dies under suspicious circumstances, her sister returns to the foreboding mansion to solve the mystery of her sibling's death in the feature directorial debut of former make-up special effects artist Victor Garcia (Hellboy). Back in 1931, malevolent doctor Richard Vannacut and his entire staff at the hilltop asylum were killed when the patients revolted and set the institution ablaze. Ever since then, rumors have persisted that the spirits of those consumed in the inferno still haunt the hospital. Those rumors seemed to be confirmed when, in 1999, billionaire Steven H. Price and his guests were viciously slaughtered in the refurbished mansion. Though the authorities officially blamed Price himself for the gruesome massacre, survivor Sarah Wolfe insists that there was indeed a supernatural element at play. Now, eight years have passed since that fateful night, and Sarah's sister Ariel - a successful editor at a popular men's fashion magazine - has just received word that Sarah has committed suicide. Immediately sensing foul play, Ariel's suspicions are confirmed when a strange book arrives in the mail shortly thereafter. Sent by Sarah just before she died, the book proves to be Vannacut's personal diary. According to the diary, which Ariel manages to translate with a little help from archeologist Richard Hammer, an ancient Baphomet idol is hidden somewhere deep within the sprawling estate. In her last days, Sarah had become convinced that the idol was the source of the house's evil. Richard, too, shares this belief, and with the help of graduate students Michelle and Kyle he is determined to find the idol. But Ariel isn't about to go on a ghost hunt in the same mansion where so may atrocities have occurred, at least not until she is kidnapped by Desmond Niles and his vicious band of mercenaries. They too seek the Baphomet idol, and they too will soon discover why few people who venture into the former asylum ever come out alive. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

As Anna (Samaire Armstrong) prepares to return to Pittsburgh, Seth (Adam Brody) is tortured with guilt, thinking that he, and he alone, is responsible for her abrupt departure. In other developments, Sandy (Peter Gallagher) tries to untangle the legal problems facing his wife, Kirsten (Kelly Rowan), and father-in-law, Caleb (Alan Dale). The clandestine relationship between Julie (Melinda Clarke) and Luke (Chris Carmack) is discovered by an outraged Jimmy (Tate Donovan). And though Ryan (Ben McKenzie) is happy that his former girlfriend Theresa (Navi Rawat) has decided to stay in Newport, he will be less happy about the emotional baggage Theresa has brought from their old Chino neighborhood. ~ All Movie Guide

(Linda Lavin) guest stars as Sophie Cohen, mother of Newport lawyer Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher) and grandmother -- or "nana" -- of Seth Cohen (Adam Brody). Arriving at her son's house with some sad news for Passover, Mrs. Cohen has a galvanizing effect on Seth's girlfriend, Summer (Rachel Bilson), who is worried that "Nana" will hate her on sight. Elsewhere, Jimmy (Tate Donovan) draws closer to Hailey (Amanda Righetti), and Marissa (Mischa Barton) goes into hiding after finding out the truth about Julie (Melinda Clarke) and Luke (Chris Carmack). ~ All Movie Guide

When this final episode of The O.C.'s first season originally aired in May of 2004, producer Josh Schwartz refused to reveal any plot details, though he made a tantalizing promise: "I think people will be upset, but they won't be disappointed." As expected, most of the episode is taken up with the wedding of gold-digging Julie Cooper (Melinda Clarke) and scheming Caleb Nichol (Alan Dale). However, there is still time aplenty to deal with other major plot developments -- not least of which is Theresa's (Navi Rawat) announcement that she is pregnant, and that Ryan (Ben McKenzie) is possibly the father. ~ All Movie Guide

Having been asked to be maid of honor, Caleb's daughter Kirsten (Kelly Rowan) helps organize the wedding shower with Julie's daughter Marissa (Mischa Barton). Angered by recent events, Marissa schemes to spoil the wedding by inviting a most unwelcome guest. And Julie's ex-husband, Jimmy (Tate Donovan), ends up in a ticklish situation with Kirsten's wild sister, Hailey (Amanda Righetti). Elsewhere, Seth (Adam Brody) has an uncomfortable meeting with Summer's (Rachel Bilson) father, and Theresa (Navi Rawat) seems curiously anxious to avoid Ryan (Ben McKenzie). ~ All Movie Guide

Destined to run an impressive 27 hour-long episodes (as opposed to the usual 22), season one of The O.C. wastes little time in setting up its premise: trouble-prone teenager Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), booted out of his Chino home and apparently foredoomed to a life of crime, is "rescued" by idealistic pro bono defense attorney Sanford "Sandy" Cohen (Peter Gallagher). Over the initial protests of his former beauty-queen wife, Kirsten (Kelly Rowan), Sandy invites Ryan to live in the pool house of the Cohens' lavish Newport Beach home in California's very upscale Orange County. Quickly making friends with the Cohen's intellectual-loner son, Seth (Adam Brody), Ryan also makes a good impression on his attractive next-door neighbor Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) -- much to the disgust of Marissa's jock boyfriend, Luke Ward (Chris Carmack). Unfolding in a serial-like fashion, the remainder of the season details the disintegrating marriage of Marissa's parents, Jimmy Cooper (Tate Donovan) and his avaricious wife, Julie (Melinda Clarke) (who later has an affair with the cast-off Luke); Sandy's job switch, which causes friction in his relationship with Kirsten vis-à-vis his sexy new law partner Rachel Hoffman (Bonnie Somerville); the decision by Sandy and Jimmy to jointly purchase Newport Beach's favorite restaurant, the Lighthouse; Marissa's self-destructive behavior during a vacation in Mexico, and her ill-fated association with the duplicitous Oliver Trask (Taylor Handley); Seth's dilemma as he tries to choose between two girlfriends, Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson) and Anna Stern (Samaire Armstrong); and the disruptive machinations of Kirsten's high-rolling father, Caleb (Alan Dale), and her hedonistic sister, Hailey (Amanda Rhigetti). The cliffhanger climax of The O.C.'s first season is dominated by two major events: the wedding of the series' two most selfish and mercenary characters, and some devastating news delivered by Theresa (Navi Rawat), Ryan's former girlfriend from his Chino days. ~ All Movie Guide
