French-Canadian actress
Carol Laure had plenty of "sensory experiences" to choose from when she went on stage. She spent the better part of her childhood in a foster home after her mother killed herself and her father deserted her. Following extensive musical training, Laure entered films as the protégé of Canadian director
Gilles Carle. While most of her film roles have called upon her physical charms, she has also been given ample opportunity to display her skills as a singer and pianist.
Carol Laure achieved international renown for her performance as Solange, the frigid wife of
Gerard Depardieu, in 1978's
Get Out Your Handkerchiefs. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
