Eva Longoria Movies
Opinionated and outspoken
Desperate Housewives Latina starlet
Eva Longoria is almost as well known for her risqué sense of style as she is for her role as the oversexed nymph on the aforementioned ABC hit, on which she stars opposite television veterans
Teri Hatcher,
Marcia Cross,
Felicity Huffman, and
Nicollette Sheridan. Crediting her remarkable success in Hollywood to an unwavering determination to succeed and a strong sense of personal discipline,
Longoria has enjoyed a steady rise to fame that shows no signs of slowing anytime soon. Considered in her youth as the "ugly duckling" among her three siblings due to her dark complexion, the future sexpot nevertheless had a happy childhood growing up on her family's Corpus Christie ranch, and by the time she earned the title of Miss Corpus Christie in 1998, any insecurities that might have resulted from her unfortunate family title had long faded. Though
Longoria had numerous career options after earning her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M-Kinsville, a new and empowering sense of self-confidence found the aspiring starlet opting instead to try her luck among the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
Of course, it didn't take Tinseltown talent agents too long to notice a good thing when it came their way, and after procuring an agent and making her stage debut in a production of What the Rabbit Saw,
Longoria was soon cast in a small role on the hit television series
Beverly Hills 90210. A subsequent stint on the long-running daytime drama
The Young and the Restless found
Longoria's steady ascent to stardom perfectly on track, and although her trajectory may have been momentarily derailed due to roles in such forgettable efforts as the small-screen
Dragnet revival in 2003 and a pair of throwaway straight-to-video features (
Snitch'd and
Señorita Justice), 2004 proved the year that everything came together for the determined actress when
Desperate Housewives emerged as a surprise hit that revitalized an ailing ABC and setting breakout beauty
Longoria back on the fast track to fame. Her role as a glamorous former runway model who is having an affair with her 17-year-old gardener showcased both
Longoria's undeniable sensuality as well as her remarkable comedic skills, and fans were further impressed when
Longoria took the dual roles of star and producer in the hit comedy/variety show Hot Tamales Live. The same year of her breakout success on
Desperate Housewives,
Longoria appeared opposite
Anne Heche in the made-for-television thriller
The Dead Will Tell, with subsequent roles in
Carlita's Secret,
Harsh Times, and
The Sentinel, pointing to a lucrative feature career in addition to her success on the small screen. Briefly married to actor
Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2005,
Longoria moved further into the spotlight when she was chosen as the new face of cosmetics powerhouse L'Oréal in April 2005.
Her place in Hollywood firmly established,
Longoria appeared in the 2006 thriller
The Sentinel, alongside
Michael Douglas, and then in the
Ben Stiller comedy
The Heartbreak Kid in 2007. This would prove to be an important year for the actress as that summer she was married to basketball star
Tony Parker. She didn't take much time off to celebrate her nuptials, however, as the next year she starred in the comedy
Over Her Dead Body, in which she played a woman who is accidentally killed by an ice sculpture on her wedding day and proceeds to haunt her fiancé. Eager to continue to flex her comedic muscle,
Longoria then signed on for the family comedy
Foodfight!. Over the next few years, Longoria would continue to appear in movies like Without Men and Long Time Gone. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Documentary filmmaker U. Roberto Romano shines an illuminating light on the plight of itinerant underage migrant workers in America, who work grueling hours to feed their families yet aren't protected by child labor laws. Shot during the 2009 harvest season, the film profiles 12-year-old Zulema Lopez, 14-year-old Perla Sanchez, and 16-year-old Victor Huapilla -- each of whom regularly labor for 14 hours a day, seven days a week, to pick the produce that feeds America. Unable to achieve any real sense of stability as their families move from town to town in search of work, some of the youths give up on their dreams early on as others strive for the day they can get an education, and advocate for other manual laborers who lack the voice or political clout to make a real change. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Breckinridge is shocked when the clues point to Garrison as the traitor within the Secret Service, but his sense of duty compels him to see that his former mentor is placed under arrest. Garrison eludes his captors and struggles to prove his innocence while tracking down the real conspirator and eluding the agents who were once his colleagues. The made-for-TV paranormal thriller The Dead Will Tell was based on a "true" story suggested by famed psychic James Van Praagh, who also shows up in a cameo role. When Emily Parker (Anne Heche) is given a very old engagement ring by her fiancé, Billy (Jonathan LaPaglia), she is suddenly haunted by visions of the woman to whom the ring previously belonged. It soon becomes painfully clear that the spectral woman was murdered, and that she is "reaching out" to Emily in hopes of trapping her killer. Adding extra layers of intrigue to the proceedings is the peculiar behavior of Billy's overprotective mother (Kathleen Quinlan). Other key players in the mystery are portrayed by Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Christopher Guest, and, as the widower of the dead woman, Chris Sarandon. Filmed in New Orleans, The Dead Will Tell made its CBS network premiere on October 24, 2004. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

An awful lot of awful things happen in the outwardly respectable neighborhood surrounding Wisteria Lane during the first season of Desperate Housewives, beginning with the suicide of Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) -- who still manages to stick around in spectral form to serve as the series' narrator. Why did she do it -- and what exactly is her husband, Paul (Mark Moses), trying to cover up by throwing that old box he'd dug up from the backyard swimming pool into the river? Then there are Mary Alice's housewife friends Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross), and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria). Divorcée Susan starts dating handsome plumber Mike (James Denton), only to be undercut by the neighborhood's resident vamp, the much-married Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan). Lynette has given up a high-paying business career to take care of her family, only to be rewarded with the cutthroat competitiveness of husband Tom (Doug Savant), the miserable behavior of her children, and the open scorn of such obnoxious neighbors as Maisy Gibbons (Sharon Lawrence). Control freak Bree, described by the ABC publicity folks as "Martha Stewart on steroids," finds her life spiralling out of control when her husband, Rex (Steven Culp), divorces her and her sociopathic son, Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom), adopts a "so what" attitude after striking down an old woman with his car. And sexy ex-model Gabrielle is cheating on her moonstruck millionaire husband, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), with hunky 17-year-old gardener John (Jesse Metcalfe). And that's only a sample of what season one has to offer. Want more? Well, you asked for it! Susan accidentally burns down Edie's house and is blackmailed on that account by a Mrs. Martha Huber (Christine Estabrook) -- who is later killed by Paul Young, but it is Mike who is arrested for her murder. Later still, Susan is descended upon by her ex-husband, Karl (Richard Burgi), and her intrusive mother, Sophie Bremmer (Lesley Ann Warren). As for Lynette, she finds out that her husband's sainted father (Ryan O'Neal) is a serial philanderer. Also, after painfully adjusting to the breakup of her marriage, Bree starts going out with pharmacist George Williams (Roger Bart); Paul Young's son, Zach (Cody Kasch), inexplicably drops out of sight; and it is revealed that the oh-so-judgmental Maisy Gibbons has been sleeping with practically every man in the neighborhood -- including Bree's ex Rex! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
