A physician who helps his clients bring new life into the world is accused of an ethical breach that's also criminal in this independent drama. Dr. Freeman (Colm Feore) is a doctor who runs an upscale fertility clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Freeman specializes in helping women who have had trouble getting pregnant conceive, usually through artificial insemination techniques or transplanting donated eggs into his patients. Over the course of several weeks, Freeman inseminates nine women from different walks of life, ranging from middle-aged but newly married Lottie (Andie MacDowell) and a lesbian whose reproductive clock is ticking, Elsa (Donna D'Errico) to Frances (Geraldine Chaplin), an aging socialite who needs a son to inherit her husband's fortune and sassy, outspoken Salome (Jennifer Tilly). Of these nine women, eight become pregnant and give birth to healthy children, but when the new mothers compare notes, they discover their children bear a striking resemblance to one another. When journalist Tallulah (Elizabeth McGovern) looks into their story, they begin to suspect that Freeman used his own sperm to fertilize his patients rather than the donor samples they selected, a breach of conduct that lands the doctor in court. Mark Hamill directs and stars in the straight-to-video mockumentary Comic Book: The Movie, largely filmed on-location at the 2002 Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA. Comic book fan Donald Swan (Hamill) is hired to make a documentary about his favorite superheroes: Commander Courage and Liberty Ladd. A big Hollywood film company has funded an action blockbuster about the legendary superhero, although with an updated image. Commander Courage becomes an aggressive anti-terrorist played by Bruce Easley (Daran Norris) and his sidekick becomes sexed-up eye candy Papaya Smith (Donna D'Errico). Traditionalist Swan fights to save the dignity of his beloved hero. His documentary crew consists of studio executive Taylor Donohue (Roger Rose) and intoxicated cameraman Ricky (Jess Harnell). A consultant on the project is Leo Matuzik (Billy West), the grandson of the original character creator. Kevin Smith, Hugh Hefner, Bruce Campbell, and Stan Lee appear as themselves. New England native Vanessa Parise makes her directorial debut with the Italian-American wedding movie Kiss the Bride. Danni Sposato (Amanda Detmer) embarks on her wedding plans aided by her mother, Irena (Talia Shire), and grandmother Julia (Frances Bay). Danni's three sisters return home to Rhode Island for the wedding: oldest Niki (Brooke Langton) is the Hollywood star of a TV show, who brings along her rude boyfriend/manager Marty (Johnny Whitworth); icy Chrissy (played by director Parise) is a wealthy New York City businesswoman with no romantic prospects; and youngest Toni (Monet Mazur) drives a motorcycle and brings along her girlfriend Amy (Alyssa Milano). After discovering that their fishing-lodge reservation has been claimed by voluptuous film star Shannon Tweed, Al (Ed O'Neill) and Jefferson (Ted McGinley) are unexpectedly handed an opportunity to capitalize on the situation when Jefferson takes a picture of a nude Sharon in a compromising hot-tub situation--which the boys then proceed to auction off to the tabloids. Elsewhere, Bud (David Faustino) and Kelly (Christina Applegate) help their dog Lucky prepare for a dog-food commercial, but it is Kelly who ends up doing "stupid human tricks".
