Marco Leonardi stars as controversial soccer icon Diego Maradona in this sports biopic co-written by Manuel Rios San Martin and César Vidal, and directed by Marco Risi. As a young boy growing up on the bleak, industrialized outskirts of Buenos Aires, Maradona longed for the day that he would transcend his meager beginnings to become an internationally renowned soccer star. Later, he was propelled to fame by a winning combination of character, passion, and athleticism, ultimately achieving his dream of international superstardom. At once loved, hated, and worshipped by soccer fans around the globe, the rising star played in four World Cup games in addition to being voted the FIFA Player of the Century. But for every triumph, Maradona suffered his fair share of setbacks -including a fifteen month suspension after testing positive for cocaine in 1991, and yet another for testing positive for ephedrine during the 1994 World Cup. An outspoken athlete whose own inability to censor himself often resulted in the most controversy, Maradona nevertheless endured to become one of the most outstanding athletes in the history of the game. Named for the illegal goal-scoring move he used to defeat England during the 1986 World Cup quarter-final match, Maradona, Hand of God explores the life and career of this polarizing figure from a perspective that reserves judgment, and allows the actions of the athlete to speak for themselves. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The year is 1912, and the town of Buenos Aires is being held in the icy cold grip of fear. Ten year-old Mateo (Juan Ciancio) has been experiencing a disturbing series of extremely vivid visions that would seem to suggest that he witnessed the killings firsthand. When word gets out about Mateo's strange case of second sight, many of the locals begin to suspect that it is actually he who is committing these unspeakable acts. Meanwhile, as the body count continues to rise, Mateo's mother Estela (Maribel Verdú) enlists the aid of forensics specialist Dr. Soria (Chete Lera) in finding a rational explanation for the visions and helping the skeptical Police Inspector Petrie (Daniel Freire) locate the real killer in hopes of proving her son's innocence. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Argentine director Juan Carlos Desanzo offers a grim variation on the classic tale of Oliver Twist with this gritty tale of a young orphan who falls in with a decidedly undesirable crowd. A resourceful street kid who earns his keep as a subway busker after fleeing from his abusive parents, the young runaway is soon bestowed with the moniker of "El Polaquito" due to his faithful renditions of the popular Polish tango singer's enduring ballads. Despite his rebellious nature and distaste for authority figures, El Polaquito soon finds employment with the shady Rengo - a thuggish criminal who employs a variety of child prostitutes, beggars, and thieves. Though he would like nothing more than to break free from Rengo's suffocating grip, El Polaquito finds his options frustratingly limited due to the fact that both his sister and the object of his affections are also employed by Rengo. Now, as he makes a valiant effort to break away and take along the two people he cares about most, El Polaquito is about to discover if he truly has what it takes to survive in an uncaring society in which the death of a common street child is a casual, everyday occurrence. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
