Selena Gomez Movies

After signing for a bit part in the Robert Rodriguez-directed fantasy adventure Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), actress Selena Gomez tackled one of her first leads. She played Alex Russo, a Manhattanite adolescent grappling with the magical powers of her wizardly ancestry, in the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place (2007). Disney soon helped her launch a successful pop music career, which she nurtured alongside ongoing roles in such tween-centric fare as Another Cinderella Story (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), and Spring Breakers (2012). In 2010 she began a high-profile relationship with teen pop sensation Justin Bieber. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Adapted from Beverly Cleary's perennially popular book series, Ramona and Beezus stars newcomer Joey King as Ramona Quimby, a grade-schooler with a big imagination. So big, in fact, that she often clashes with her no-nonsense teacher (Sandra Oh). When Ramona's upbeat dad (John Corbett) loses his job, the family -- including her teenage sister, Beezus (Selena Gomez), and their practical-minded mother (Bridget Moynahan) -- must make major adjustments, like dad learning how to run the house. Ramona dreams up various plans to make money so that she can save their house, but because everybody in the family seems too preoccupied to help her with her own worries, she turns to the one person who always has time for her, Aunt Bea (Ginnifer Goodwin). But even Aunt Bea is distracted these days because her ex-boyfriend -- and Quimby family next-door neighbor -- Hobart (Josh Duhamel) keeps trying to win Bea back. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

When a soon-to-be teenage monarch is forced to flee her unstable county during a military takeover, a rural Louisiana teen attempts to help her make the transition to rural American life until order can be restored back home. Rosalinda Marie (Demi Lovato) was about to become queen of Costa Luna when chaos swept through the streets, and an agent from the Princess Protection Program whisked her away to safety. After receiving her new identity at PPP headquarters, "Rosie" learns that she will temporarily be living with the family of the agent who just rescued her. At first, young Carter Mason (Selena Gomez) isn't quite sure what to make of her new houseguest. All Carter knows is that "Rosie" is posing as her cousin from Iowa, and that it's going to take a lot of work to help the princess fit in at her local high school. At first the two girls seem to share little in common except for their age, though when "Rosie" nominates Carter for homecoming queen over the vehement objections of popular girls Chelsea and Brooke, the ice begins to thaw. Realizing that "Rosie" is more than just an air-headed princess from an unknown country, Carter begins brainstorming for a means of helping her new pal regain her throne, no matter what the risk. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Prepare for plenty of music, lots of dancing, and even a little magic in this reworking of the Cinderella legend featuring High School Musical star Drew Seeley as a young Prince Charming in search of the ideal girl. It's never easy being the new kid in school, but young Joey (Seeley) is determined to make the most of his new surroundings. If only he were to find a pretty girl who was willing to teach him the ropes around his new high school, Joey could finally stop fretting about fitting in. Perhaps Mary (Selena Gomez) is just such a girl, though this Cinderella is more likely to waltz in a new pair of dancing shoes than a pair of glass slipper. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The first American theatrically released 3-D movie from a major studio since 1991's Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over is the third entry in three years in Robert Rodriguez's family-oriented action-adventure series. Along with the four members of the Cortez family, played by Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Alexa Vega, and Daryl Sabara, most of the characters from the first two films have returned, including Fegan Floop (Alan Cumming), Romero (Steve Buscemi), Machete (Danny Trejo), Dinky Winks (Bill Paxton), and Donnagon (Mike Judge). This time around, Carmen (Vega) is kidnapped by the evil Toymaker (Sylvester Stallone) and imprisoned inside a virtual-reality game. It's then up to Juni (Sabara) to venture into the game and save his sister from the villain's clutches. The film's three-dimensional segments take place inside the game. Also starring Salma Hayek, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over is actually the first of two 2003 films directed by Rodriguez that complete a trilogy, the other being Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the third installment in the El Mariachi saga. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi
