Their suspicions aroused when a 12-year-old girl named Melanie (Holliston Coleman) lands in the hospital with complications relating to her pregnancy, SVU detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Munch (Richard Belzer) end up confronting a charismatic cult leader named Eugene Hoff (Jeff Kober). At any rate, that's what he's calling himself now: it seems that Hoff is a seasoned scam artist who, under a variety of aliases, has exploited gullible religious fanatics for his own crooked purposes. It turns out that Melanie is not only Hoff's wife, she is one of several of his wives--and this is not the most sinister aspect of the case. A cop teams up with the former head of a drug cartel to avenge the death of the woman he loved in this action-drama. Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) and Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate) are a pair of DEA agents who think they've made the bust of a lifetime when they capture 'Memo' Lucero (Geno Silva), a multi-millionaire drug lord who controlled most of the narcotics traffic along the border of Mexico and the United States. However, with Lucero behind bars, a new and decidedly more dangerous underworld kingpin rises to take his place, and Diablo (Timothy Olyphant), also known as Hollywood Jack Slayton, soon proves to be even more dangerous than Lucero when he orders his gunmen to assassinate Vetter. While Vetter escapes unharmed, his wife is killed, and Vetter is thrown deep into despair. Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Anya (Emma Caulfield), and Xander (Nicholas Brendon) rush through the woods, aghast that power-mad Willow (Alyson Hannigan) has just murdered Warren (see "Villains"). Certain that the grief-stricken Wiccan is on her way to kill Andrew (Tom Lenk) and Jonathan (Danny Strong), Anya teleports to their jail cell to save the surviving super-nerds. Willow arrives, decimating both the cops and the police station, but the geeks escape in a police car with Buffy and the Scoobies. A high-speed chase ensues as Willow commandeers a semi-truck, riding it like a magical chariot. Eventually, though, her powers fizzle out and the others escape. As Buffy, the gang, and the nerds hole up at the Magic Box, Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) convinces Clem (James C. Leary), her demonic babysitter, to accompany her to the magical den of iniquity run by the sinister Rack (Jeff Kober -- see "Wrecked"). They arrive just as Willow is draining the supernatural pusher of his powers, leaving him dead and Willow once again super-powerful. Dawn touts her own love of Tara to the slain Wiccan's lover, momentarily sidelining Willow's rage. But the witch lashes out at her young friend -- and at Buffy, who arrives ready to fight. Willow transports the entire melee to the magic shop, where only Anya's chanting protects Jonathan and Andrew from Willow's wrath. As Buffy and her best friend duke it out, the nerds escape under Xander's supervision. Just as it appears that Willow will totally demolish Buffy, Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) arrives and floors Willow with a single incantation. Meanwhile, in Africa, Spike (James Marsters) completes the first in a series of mystical trials in order to become "like he was" and give Buffy "what she deserves." Mad with grief over the stray bullet that just killed Tara (Amber Benson) before her very eyes (see "Seeing Red"), Willow (Alyson Hannigan) forsakes all of her determination to avoid magic. She calls on the darkest powers to resurrect her lover, but to no avail; unlike Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Tara has died a natural death and cannot be revived. As Xander (Nicholas Brendon) accompanies the wounded Buffy to the hospital, Willow ransacks the Magic Box, imprisoning Anya (Emma Caulfield) and absorbing the blackest of magicks from the shop's most dangerous tomes. Her eyes and hair glazed black and her body crackling with supernatural power, Willow heals Buffy at the hospital, then heads off to have her revenge. Back at home, after Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) spends several grief-soaked hours cradling Tara's body, Buffy finds her, comforts her, and takes her to Spike's crypt for safekeeping. But Spike (James Marsters) is gone, having traveled to Africa to engage in a perilous quest to regain his former self. Meanwhile, when Xander turns to ex-fiancée Anya for a spell to locate his power-mad friend, Anya reveals that she's once again a vengeance demon. Nonetheless, she travels with Buffy and Xander to the cemetery, where Willow is in the process of torturing Warren (Adam Busch). As her friends watch in horror, Willow flays the villain alive, then destroys him in a burst of flame before vanishing. Originally broadcast May 14, 2002, on UPN, "Villains" marked episode 120 of the cult-favorite series. Astute fans will recognize Willow's final comment before flaying Warren -- "Bored now" -- as an echo of her vampire double's favorite saying (see "Doppelgangland"). ~ Brian J. A Cinderella story turns into a nightmare when a former waitress' perfect marriage gives way to adultery and physical abuse in this combination of domestic drama and revenge thriller. Motherless young woman Slim (Jennifer Lopez) works in a San Francisco diner with her best friend, Ginny (Juliette Lewis). After almost succumbing to the slick flirtation of an insincere customer (Noah Wyle), she is rescued by another dashing diner named Mitch (Bill Campbell). A few years later, the now happily married couple seem to have it all -- a perfect house, a precocious daughter (Tessa Allen), and a comfortable life. Then, Slim discovers that Mitch is actually a lothario who has been sleeping with other women behind her back. When she protests, he slaps her around and uses daughter Gracie as leverage to keep her in line. Slim enlists the help of her friends to escape with her child, though Mitch attacks and very nearly kills her in the process. Going on the lam, Slim adopts a series of new identities, wigs, and residences to avoid the goons Mitch has sent to retrieve her. Along the way, she receives help from Joe (Dan Futterman), a friend and old flame from college. Ultimately, Mitch and his unexpected allies so terrify Slim that she must turn the tables and transform herself from hunted to hunter. In doing so, she receives some surprise assistance of her own -- from Jupiter (Fred Ward), the rich father who abandoned her mother years ago. The first big blizzard of the year results in an overload of patients at the ER, including members of a family who were building a snowman when they were struck down by a drunk driver. Carter (Noah Wyle) would sooner leave Chicago behind and join Abby (Maura Tierney), who has flown to an Omaha military base to find out the fate of her AWOL brother, Eric (Tom Everett Scott). Among the unfortunate "guests" is Nygean prisoner Iko (Jeff Kober), whose death sentence is as much the result of his heritage as his actual crimes. A series of probing conversations with Iko causes Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) to suffer pangs of guilt over her previous association with the Borg Collective -- 20 full years of killing without any sort of punishment. Following their respective big nights out (see "Smashed"), Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) recoils from her liaison with Spike (James Marsters) while Willow (Alyson Hannigan) suffers a colossal hangover from doing too many spells with Amy (Elizabeth Anne Allen). Anya (Emma Caulfield) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon) continue to worry about Willow's descent into magic, while Tara (Amber Benson) grows despondent that her fears about Willow were well-founded. The next night, Willow again meets up with Amy, this time to visit a mystically hidden hang-out where a sorcerer named Rack (Jeff Kober) doles out powerful magicks that function like drugs. Although her blissful spell/trip ends badly, Willow heads back to Rack's the next day -- this time with Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) involuntarily in tow. Buffy catches Amy stealing magical supplies from Willow's room and learns about the witches' activities together. She enlists Spike's help in tracking down Willow and Dawn but warns her vampire suitor that their tryst meant absolutely nothing and won't be repeated. Meanwhile, Willow drags an angry Dawn away from Rack's abode, and they end up in a desperate flight from a demon whom Willow accidentally summoned while under the influence. The demon is vanquished, but Dawn suffers serious injuries and Willow is left a gibbering, guilty wreck. That night, Willow suffers from Wiccan withdrawal as Buffy watches over her attempt to kick the magical habit. Investigating the claims made by IRS agent Victor Poole (Marty Rackham) that he has been kidnapped, Andy (Dennis Franz) ends up exposing Poole's secret life -- and is labeled "homophobic" for his troubles. The real-life drama of the 1994 O.J. Simpson trial is given quasi-fictional treatment in this two-part CBS miniseries, which aired in November 2000. Much of the miniseries' plot focuses on the battle of egos between defense lawyers Johnnie Cochran (Ving Rhames) and Robert Shapiro (Ron Silver) and how the personalities of these men in part shaped the outcome of the trial. As Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) turns 18, the Watchers Council comes to Sunnydale to administer a test -- the Cruciamentum -- given to all slayers who make it to this age. As part of the test, Buffy must face an imprisoned vampire. In this case, it is Kralik (Jeff Kober), an insane vampire who soon escapes from his shackles. Also as part of the test, Giles (Anthony Head) injects Buffy with a substance that temporarily takes away her slayer powers. This leaves her vunerable to Kralik and deeply hurt at Giles' complicity in the test. Meanwhile, Kralik captures Joyce (Kristine Sutherland) and Buffy must outwit the vampire using her cunning, as she is without her slayer strength. ~ All Movie Guide
In this sci-fi thriller, Harper (Isabella Hoffman) is a reconnaissance agent from an alien civilization sent to Earth to study the planet and its inhabitants. Harper has taken over the body of a human being in order to not seem conspicuous, and has been performing tests to see if her mind control techniques will make it possible for her people to enslave the human race. But Harper has learned that most of the earthlings do not respond to her methods, and another three alien scouts -- Alpha, Bravo, and Charley -- are sent to see if the path can be cleared for a massive invasion of the planet three days hence. While Harper's new comrades show little concern or compassion for human beings, she has developed an understanding of humans during her six months on the planet and is no longer certain that taking over the planet is a good idea. Though he essentially made The Big Fall a detective thriller, director/star C. Thomas Howell interjects his hard-boiled tale with a hint of parody. Though specializing in cases of adultery, Los Angeles private dick Blaize Rybeck's newest client, the beautiful Emma Russell (Sophie Ward) has a different type of project: she wants him to locate her brother Kenny, a flight instructor who was involved in a plane crash. His body was never found at the site, and Emma is convinced that Kenny is still alive. To solve the puzzle, Blaize goes undercover and joins a group of sky-diving thrillseekers. His old pal FBI-agent Bill Wilcox (William Applegate Jr.) shows up and tries to persuade Blaize to stop investigating -- as there is far more to the case than is immediately apparent -- but by that time, the gumshoe is in too deep to stop. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Based on a popular British cult comic book, this film is the story of a futuristic feminist superhero and her fight to preserve the environment against an evil government bureaucracy. The action is set in the year 2033, after an ecological disaster of drought and pollution has ravaged the countryside, and water is scarce. Tank Girl (Lori Petty) is a sassy punker who has her own vintage tank in tow, along with other high-tech weapons. Her mutant friends join her in bizarre battles against the corporate-statist Department of Water and Power and its villainous chief, Kesslee (Malcolm McDowell). At stake is the world's water supply, which the Department is hoarding and which the rebels frequently raid. Rock star Iggy Pop has a cameo as Rat Face, one of the half-human, half-kangaroo Rippers.
