Jennette McCurdy Movies

Onscreen performer Jennette McCurdy launched her acting career as a child star in the early 2000s. She subsequently divided her time between supporting roles in made-for-television features, such as the 2004 Tiger Cruise and the 2007 Last Day of Summer; guest-star assignments on series programs including Malcolm in the Middle, CSI, and Will & Grace; and occasional bit parts in theatrical features. McCurdy ascended several notches in terms of billing when cast as one of the leads on the Nickelodeon cable series iCarly in 2007. The program concerns Carly, a young woman (Miranda Cosgrove) who runs a regular Internet webcast with two of her friends (played by McCurdy and Nathan Kress). Based on actual events which occurred aboard the "USS Constitution", this made-for-cable movie begins as young Maddie Nolan (Hayden Panettiere) boards the Naval carrier under the command of her father Gary (Bill Pullman). Maddie is participating in a traditional "tiger cruise", wherein the family members of Naval personnel are invited to join the men and women in uniform during a typical days of maneuvers. Unlike her fellow passengers, however, Maddie has an ulterior motive: Weary of being a "Navy brat" who has spent her childhood moving from one base to another, she is hoping to persuade her father to give up the service and settle down in one place. But on the third day at sea, Commander Dolan's carrier is ordered to assume "combat mode": the date is September 11, 2001, and America is under attack! Tiger Cruise debuted August 6, 2004, on the Disney Channel. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Further cementing 2003 as the year of Ron Shelton cop movies, the director continued his vacation from the sports genre with Hollywood Homicide, a police comedy that comes right on the heels of Shelton's Dark Blue, a decidedly grittier cop thriller. The film stars Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett as LAPD homicide detectives Joe Gavilan and K.C. Calden, two cops with bigger dreams. Gavilan moonlights as a real estate agent, while Calden teaches yoga and yearns for a career on the big screen. When an entire hip-hop group is murdered on-stage, Gavilan and Calden are called in to handle the case. As their investigation progresses, they begin to suspect that the rappers were offed for attempting to get out of their recording contract with label head Sartain (Isaiah Washington). Along with Bruce Greenwood and Keith David, the supporting cast boasts a plethora of real-life musicians, including Dr. Dre, Gladys Knight, Dwight Yoakam, Master P, and Ronald DeVoe of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi
