Brian Dennehy makes one of his many TV-movie appearances as Chicago homicide cop John Reed in the two-part Deadly Matrimony. Reed's quarry this time is mob lawyer Treat Williams, who murders his wife and then effectively covers his tracks. The closer Reed comes to the truth, the more he's in jeopardy of losing his job (and possibly his life) thanks to Williams' friends in high places. Based on a true story, part one of Deadly Matrimony was first telecast on November 22, 1992. In part two, which debuted November 23, Reed is victimized by the crooked cops under Williams' thumb, but refuses to knuckle under to mob pressure. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This TV movie is not necessarily in defense of married man Michael Ontkean. That responsibility is taken by Judith Light, Ontkean's wife. When Ontkean is accused of murdering his mistress (Cynthia Sikes), his wife Light, a defense attorney, handles the case. Beyond the unavoidable emotional involvement, Light must wrestle with whether or not she really wants to ask her husband if he did it. This sci-fi spoof stars Frank Stallone (Sly's brother) as Tony Mareda, Jr., a hot-shot private detective. Mareda leaves the funeral of his father, and while on the road and chased by two gunmen, he picks up a winsome hitchhiker and they end up at a drive in movie. While a "Zombie Beach Party 3" film flickers across the screen, a local weatherman and his date start talking about life in outer space, and lo-and-behold, a pink meteorite lands not far from the drive-in. It turns out that this "pink Mamma" transforms innocent, nubile maidens into pink chiquitas whose lust for men is a prelude to enslaving them and taking over the world. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Shot in 1983 but not released until 1985, this low-budget sci-fi adventure is set in a degenerate society sometime in the near future, with humans thrown back to the level of Neanderthals by nuclear war. Three astronauts, two men and a woman, are in charge of a space station armed with nuclear weapons when World War III erupts on earth. They remain in space to stay out of the conflagration but are forced to crash-land several months after the war has wiped out most of civilization. After the crash, one astronaut is killed, another is captured, and the third stays with the downed space station in a series of chase-and-capture scenes. Made for television, The Life and Times of Edwin Alonzo Boyd is a fact-based study of 1940s criminal activity, Canadian style. Gordon Pinsent stars as Boyd, leader of a notorious gang of thieves, cutthroats and pluguglies. Featured in the cast are Mary Ann McDonald as Boyd's wife and Peter Glen as "The Law". Director Les Rose adopts a semi-documentary approach, utilizing the big-band music of the era to create the proper atmosphere. The teleplay was based upon The Boyd Gang, a book by M.
