An offensive hand gesture sets into motion a tragic series of events in director Tzahi Grad's tense tale of one man who refuses to bend to the powers that be. It's Holocaust Memorial Day, and Michael Klienhouse's wife, Tamar, has just flipped 60-year-old war hero Dreyfus the finger. Enraged at the blatant act of disrespect, Dreyfus punches the gas of his car and nearly kills Tamar when he drives directly into her door. A law-abiding citizen who only wants justice for his wife, family man Michael is shocked when the authorities tell him that there is little they can do about the incident. As it turns out, Dreyfus has some pretty powerful friends, and never seems to have lost his battlefield mentality. Israeli actor Tzahi Grad makes his debut as a writer/director with the complicated caper Giraffes. The opening chase scene involves an unidentified woman falling from a building. The story flashes back to a night of confusing mix-ups involving three women who live in the same apartment building in Tel-Aviv: Efrat (Meital Dohan), Dafna (Liat Glick), and Avigail (Tinkerbell). Avigail accidentally goes to Dafna's film shoot, Dafna accidentally goes on Efrat's blind date, and Efrat gets into a dangerous taxicab situation. When the cab driver turns up dead and Efrat discovers a bunch of money, she goes on the run. Desperately looking for a lawyer, she meets up with Avner (Micha Selektar), who was supposed to be her blind date in the first place. Things get even more convoluted when it's revealed that Avigail is a magazine journalist writing the whole caper for a movie script. Israeli filmmaker Oded Davidoff directs the thriller Clean Sweep, adapted by Gal Zaid from a novel by Limor Nachmias. Yael Hadar stars as tough undercover cop Aya Masterichi, who fears she's getting set up by her boyfriend Reuven Shechter (Alon Abutbul). She goes out on her own investigation to bust drug lord Patrick Sarusi (played by screenwriter Zaid). Along the way, she makes friends with stoner Iftah (Tomer Sharon) and his roommate Shuli (Dalit Kahan).
