Victoria Pratt Movies
Fair-haired actress Victoria Pratt was set on quite a different career path before becoming interested in acting. She attended York University in Toronto, where she earned a degree in kinesiology, and she went on to work in the University's Human Performance Lab, testing athletes from teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the San Jose Sharks. She was even offered a scholarship for the physiotherapy master's program at the University of Toronto, but so she turned it down. She co-authored a book on fitness with one of her university professors, and worked as a professional fitness model, which is how she met Robert Kennedy, the publisher of MuscleMag. He suggested that Pratt enroll in acting classes, and soon after taking his advice, the model-turned-actress scored a role on the sci-fi series Cleopatra 2525 as Rose, otherwise known as "Sarge." She stuck with science fiction, later scoring roles on the series Mutant X and Day Break, and the female lead, opposite Rick Schroder, in the TV adaptation Journey to the Center of the Earth in 2008. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie GuideEvil robots, gratuitous explosions, and babes in silver lame bikinis. Set in 2525 after robots called Bailles have forced Earth's human population to retreat underground, a duo of nubile warriors fight their mechanical oppressors. Sarge (Victoria Pratt) and Hel (Gina Torres), who can communicate with a mysterious voice in her jaw, stumble upon Cleopatra (Jennifer Sky), a valley girl/exotic dancer from 2001 who slipped into a coma after a botched boob job. The three join forces and fight the robots. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

The premise of Mutant X is firmly established in the series' two-part season one opener "The Shock of the New." Breaking away from the sinister government research organization Genomex, a scientist named Adam (John Shea) vows to shatter the megalomaniacal dreams of his former boss Mason Eckhart (Tom McCamus), and to rescue those genetically enhanced, superpowered human mutants created under Eckhart's evil influence. Adam quickly organizes several new mutants -- the catlike Shadowfox (Victoria Pratt), the electrically charged Fuse (Victor Webster), the psychic Rapport (Lauren Lee Smith), and the molecule-rearranging Synergy (Forbes March) -- into his own do-gooding agency Mutant X. As Adam's team endeavors to keep one step ahead of Eckhart's Genetic Security Agency, created to hunt down and kill the "renegades," they also save a number of their own mutant species from various grisly fates. Of course, some mutants are beyond redemption, and have crossed over into evil, among them a frightening array of "invisibles," shape shifters and even vampires. The last of season one's 22 episodes, "Dancing on the Razor," finds both Mutant X and Genomex facing their most deadly peril: public exposure! (up to now, Mr. John Q. Citizen has been kept in the dark as to all the superpowered and supernatural shenanigans). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

There's a bit of good news for Adam Kane (John Shea) and his genetically enhanced mutant comrades-in-arms as Mutant X launches its second season. Mason Eckhart (Tom McCamus), the megalomaniacal madman who, as supervisor of the top-secret Genomex company, created a race of mutant superhumans, has been captured and imprisoned. However, there is little time for celebration: Eckhardt has been replaced as leader of the Genetic Security Agency, the organization set up to track down and destroy all mutants lest the secret agenda of Genomex be revealed to the world. The new head of the GSA is Gabriel Ashlocke (Michael Easton), a deranged super-mutant who possesses more deadly powers than all four members of Adam's Mutant X team combined. What does this sinister plot development hold in store for the catlike Shadowfox (Victoria Pratt), the electrically charged Fuse (Victor Webster), the psychic Rapport (Lauren Lee Smith), and the molecule-rearranging Synergy (Forbes March)? Well, without giving too much away, it can be noted that at least one member of the team will not be coming back for season three. As in past episodes, Mutant X leavens its tension-filled plotlines with moments of self-reflective humor, especially whenever the scriptwriters are moved to insert a few "in-jokes" for comic book and sci-fi fans, such as a passing reference to a psychiatric hospital presumably named after science fiction author Harlan Ellison, and naming one of the secondary villains after a character in the old cartoon series Space Ghost. Also, an aura of mystery and expectation is cunningly sustained with scattered suggestions that the Mutant X team possesses powers they are not even aware of...powers even more awesome than their established talents. Finally, season two of Mutant X marks the auspicious scriptwriting debut of actor Freddie Prinze Jr., who penned the episode titled "One Step Closer." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Season three of Mutant X begins as the series' superpowered mutant protagonists struggle to come to grips with the death of their comrade Emma "Rapport" deLauro, a psychic mutant who used force bolts to control and monitor the emotions of others. Also, the human leader of the Mutant X team, Adam Kane, has been forced to fake his own death and go into hiding, the better to continue his battle against the sinister government research lab Genomex and the lab's mutant-killing Genetic Security Agency. This, of course, explains why actor John Shea is billed as a guest star during his sporadic third season appearances. Replacing the departed Emma is Lexa Pierce (Karen Cliche), who, like her new teammate Fuse (Victor Webster) is an elemental mutant, capable of harnessing and controlling certain forces of nature. It is clear from the outset that Lexa will have no trouble fitting in with, and following the agenda of, the established Mutant X team, which in addition to Fuse also includes the molecule-rearranging Synergy (Forbes March) and the cat-like Shadowfox (Victoria Pratt). Whereas in previous seasons the Mutant X team was dedicated to rescuing their fellow mutants from harm, season three finds them broadening their base to include helping ordinary humans in ordinary situations. As a result, the individual plot devices are bit more standardized: the serial killer who leaves cryptic clues behind, a race to find the antidote for a slow-acting poison, the sudden appearance of a disreputable twin brother, and a "clip show" in which the teammates try to recall all the good times when one of their number hovers between life and death. The season finale, "The Assault," reveals several hitherto unknown and unsuspected facts about Mutant X and its true purpose in the scheme of things. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

As Richard and Barry endure humiliating auditions, calamitous television shoots, and embarrassing stints as animal mascots, the answer to that pressing question finally may be closer than either had hoped. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Unable to have a baby through the usual means, Nina and Noah Hamilton (Tori Spelling, Tahmoh Penikett) opt for in-vitro fertilization. When this method seems to be failing as well, Noah makes a curious suggestion: Perhaps if he and Nina tried the in-vitro clinic in his own home town, somehow the fertilization process will take hold. Unfortunately, Noah's former girlfriend Callie (Victoria Pratt), who has been thirsting for revenge ever since she aborted her baby for Noah's sake, is obsessed with winning him back--a scheme that not only involves "becoming" the unwitting Nina, but murdering several people in the bargain. The surrealistic ABC cop drama Day Break was aptly characterized by most observers as "24 Meets Groundhog Day." Taye Diggs starred as police detective Brett Hopper, whom when first we met him had just endured the worst day of his life, culminating in his arrest for the murder of Assistant District Attorney Alberto Garza. Although he had an airtight alibi, Hopper was unable to convince anyone of his innocence, suggesting that his arrest was part of a conspiratorial frame-up. While being aggressively grilled by homicide detectives Spivak (Mitch Pileggi) and Choi (Ian Anthony Dale), Hopper suddenly lost consciousness, awakening in an other-worldly hideaway presided over by a sinister shadowy figure (Jonathan Banks) -- who "entertained" the protagonist by showing a tape in which Hopper's girlfriend Rita Shelten (Moon Bloodgood) died horribly.
At this point, Hopper was whisked back in time to the morning of his "worst day," only to find that he was condemned to live that same day over and over again until he was able to change its outcome. Alas, no matter how hard he tried to alter events, the day ended inexorably with his being arrested for murder and his witnessing of Rita's demise. Moreover, when the day started over again, Hopper found that the decisions he made during his previous "reliving" had had profound and disturbing consequences. In each episode, Hopper (the only person who knew that he and everyone around was trapped within the same ever-repeating time arc) was armed with knowledge he hadn't previously possessed, along with vital clues as to why all this was happening to him. Other players in this déjà vu nightmare were Hopper's partner, Andrea Battle (Victoria Pratt), who may or may not have been in on the conspiracy; his ex-partner (and Rita's ex-husband) Chad Shelten (Adam Baldwin), head of Internal Affairs and apparently a man with more than his share of dark secrets; Hopper's sister, Jennifer (Meta Golding), whose miserable domestic life weighed heavily on the plotline; and alleged gang leader Damien Ortiz (Ramon Rodriguez), who turned out to be even more a victim of circumstance than the hero. Created by Paul Zbyszewski, Day Break first aired on November 15, 2006. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Not to be confused with Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, the Brendan Fraser adventure that was released into theaters the same year, this made-for-cable take on Jules Verne's classic tale stars Golden Globe winner Rick Schroder as the leader of a treacherous mission miles below the Earth's surface. Famed anthropologist Jonathan Brock (Schroder) has just accepted the most dangerous -- and exciting -- assignment of his entire career. Four years ago, Edward Dennison (Peter Fonda) -- husband of wealthy Martha Dennison (Victoria Pratt) -- mysteriously vanished while embarking on an expedition to the planet's core. Martha has never gotten over her husband's disappearance, and she's willing to pay Jonathan whatever it takes to locate the missing Edward. Now, in order to retrace Edward's footsteps and find the answer to Martha's biggest question, Jonathan enlists the aid of his nephew Abel (Steve Grayhm) and Edward's former partner Sergei (Mike Dopud) and sets off to Alaska in hopes of locating the secret gateway to the center of the Earth.
With Martha in tow, Jonathan, Abel, and Sergei make their way into the great unknown and discover something truly spectacular. Miles beneath the Earth's surface is a world teeming with undiscovered life, a place where prehistoric birds soar overhead and man-eating megalodons rule the underworld oceans. The most surprising discovery of all, however, is a primitive race of warriors who have never seen the sun. Edward has become the leader of these men, the God-like ruler of a secret kingdom. But while Edward is indeed considered a god among the people, there is a devil in this world as well. As a rival tribe prepares to launch an attack that could destroy all of civilization, Jonathan and the rest of his crew stage the most daring escape ever attempted. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
