Italian director Stefano Incerti's by-the-throat political thriller Complici del Silenzio offers an angry, uncompromising look at Argentine totalitarian policies during the dictatorship of Jorge Redondo in the late 1970s. Alessio Boni stars as Maurizio, an Italian journalist who dreams of covering the 1978 World Cup in Buenos Aires. He has a secondary reason for visiting, as well: his uncle's family recently immigrated to Argentina and took up lucrative careers as architects, and the trip will provide him with the opportunity to visit them. Tragically, personal ties in the region lead to Maurizio's undoing: upon arrival, he visits a friend's ex-wife, Ana (Florencia Raggi), a teacher noted for her subversive anti-government activities. The two strike up a torrid affair and Maurizio delivers money to Anna, but Ana's ex-husband Pablo (Juan Leyrado) just happens to be a political official and orders the authorities to trail Maurizio, leading to his arrest and torture, and Ana's capture and imprisonment. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Giorgio is enrolled in a program where he is "rehabilitated" by cooperating with the police, staring by getting the goods on Anedda (Michele Placido), a corrupt cop. However, before long Giorgio's actions start to seem more like blackmail than justice, as a demands payments from the owner of a topless bar and persuading a married woman, Flora (Isabella Ferrari), to sleep with him until her husband makes good on a long-standing debt. However, temptation becomes too much for Giorgio when Anedda offers to bring him in on a robbery he's been planning; Giorgio's share of the loot looks to be enough to keep him afloat for years, but his new criminal lifestyle is more than he knows how to handle. Dark shadows from a woman's past come back to haunt her in this drama from writer and director Cristina Comencini. Sabina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) would seem to have a charmed life -- she has a successful career as a voice actress, a loving and supportive relationship with her boyfriend, Franco (Alessio Boni), and a pair of close friends she can confide in, Maria (Angela Finocchiaro) and Emilia (Stefania Rocca). But Sabina's contented existence is shattered when she inadvertently dredges up a long-dormant memory of how during her childhood she was sexually abused by her father. Confused and ashamed, Sabina finds it impossible to talk about her memories with Franco and her friends, but the terrible images refuse to go away. Seeking closure, Sabina travels to the United States to talk to the one person who may have a true insight to her problems, her brother, Daniele (Luigi Lo Cascio).
