In this suspense/action/thriller, the backwoods connivings of corrupt officials of a Tennessee town lead to rape and murder. What's worse, state officials refuse to look into the situation there until the inexplicably absent town sheriff returns with the feds. The trouble comes to a head when the town mayor appoints his sadistic but none-too-bright nephew to fill the (apparently) vacated sheriff's spot. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

When the Burbank Karate Club embarks upon a relaxing cruise, the last thing they expect to encounter is hippie smugglers, white slavery, and man-eating monks looking to raise Karate masters up from the grave, but they do in this lively and decidedly off-beat and campy Hong Kong martial arts adventure. Much of the film is comprised of footage from Roger Corman's 1978 horror film Piranha. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Camille Keaton, grand-niece of Buster and star of the thriller Cosa Avete Fatto a Solange?, appears here as Jenny, an aspiring novelist who rents a cabin in the Connecticut woods. Three rednecks at a local gas station and a retarded delivery boy seem quite friendly at first, and many viewers wonder just where director Meir Zarchi is going with the story. Then he drops them 200,000 feet right into the center of Hell for the longest, nastiest, and most brutal gang-rape in motion-picture history. Zarchi takes his time with this scene, not for the sake of titillation, but to make the audience feel the absolute horror of Jenny's plight. She is humiliated, sodomized over a rock, and brutally beaten in the middle of the woods. Then she crawls home, naked and bruised, only to get a repeat performance with her new novel shredded, her stomach kicked, and a bottle rammed violently inside her. The experience leaves Jenny shell-shocked, a cipher completely detached from reality. She hangs the delivery boy from a tree, gorily castrates the ringleader in a bathtub, and dispatches the other two rapists with an axe and an outboard motor. Eron Tabor, Richard Pace, Anthony Nicholls, and Gunter Kleeman co-star. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Italian horror icon Riccardo Freda directs I Spit on Your Grave star Camille Keaton in this gory shocker concerning four hippies who seek shelter from a summer storm in a seemingly-abandoned villa, only to realize that they have stumbled into a satanic sacrifice. Frightened away by the gruesome orgy of violence, the hippies waste no time in beating a hasty retreat. Things quickly go from bad to worse, however, when the innocent peaceniks are subsequently accused of committing a massacre that eclipses that of even the Tate-LaBianca murders. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

One of the final links between the Edgar Wallace-based German krimi genre and the Italian giallo thriller, this creepy mystery stars Fabio Testi as a college professor who sleeps with his students and is blamed when a string of murders occurs. Joachim Fuchsberger, as usual, is the police inspector trying to solve the killings; Camille Keaton, Buster Keaton's grand-niece and later the star of Meir Zarchi's I Spit on Your Grave (1980) has a supporting role; cameraman Aristide Massaccesi, later infamous as gore director "Joe D'Amato," turns up as a cop. Massimo Dallamano's direction is assured. This first-rate thriller was based on Wallace's Secret of the Green Pin. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide
