Sienna Miller Movies

With a mother who ran London's famed Lee Strasberg drama school -- and being the sort of knockout blonde beauty adored by the cameras -- it was not surprising that Sienna Miller eventually gravitated to an acting career. Born in New York to an American banker father and a mother who was always associated with the arts, young Miller received her primary education at the Heathfield School in Ascot, Surrey, before pursuing acting at New York's Lee Strasberg Institute. Her feature debut in the 2002 drama Joy Rider found the emerging actress caught in the middle of a heated love triangle, and after essaying a role in a BBC television drama Bedtime in 2001, Miller crossed the pond to appear on the stateside series Keen Eddie. Trading zingers with the series' lead Mark Valley, Miller played her character with just the sort of chemistry needed to make an action comedy series work.

If subsequent roles in the films Layer Cake and Alfie weren't enough to get people talking about Miller, her relationship with the latter film's star, Jude Law, certainly helped keep gossip columnists in business. A mere week after Law and longtime wife Sadie Frost divorced, the handsome actor and the rising starlet were rumored to have purchased an apartment together in a more secluded area of New York. But Miller's greatest coup was yet to come, for she soon netted her first lead in a major American feature: that of Katya, a twentysomething member of the glitterati who engages a member of the paparazzi (Steve Buscemi) in some seriously devious mind games when he sets out to interview her, in Buscemi's directorial outing Interview. Meanwhile, Miller joined Robert de Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and others for a supporting role in the Princess Bride-like fantasy Stardust (2007), and evoked poet Dylan Thomas' wife, Caitlin MacNamara, in the period drama The Best Time of Our Lives (2008). ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Filmed on-location in London, the FOX cop series Keen Eddie starred Mark Valley as Eddie Arlette, a New York City police detective. Disgraced and nearly dismissed after a spectacularly botched drug bust, Eddie was ordered to transfer to London's Scotland Yard so that he might rebuild his career from the ground up. Despite a daunting series of setbacks and blunders, Eddie managed to do his duty, with both himself and his Scotland Yard colleagues learning a lot more about one another's countries and cultures than they ever imagined. Sienna Miller co-starred as Eddie's reluctant flatmate, Fiona Bickerton. Others in the cast included Colin Salmon as Eddie's extremely judgmental Yard superior Supt. Johnson; Julian Rhind-Tutt as Eddie's deceptively prim-and-proper partner, Rudy (who, among other things, pretended to by married so he could attend sub-rosa wife-swapping parties); and a pair of animal regulars, Eddie's dog, Pete, and Fiona's cat, Duchess. Originally slated to debut in January 2003, Keen Eddie was shelved until June of that same year, reportedly to allow the producers to transform what had begun as a straight dramatic-action series into a semi-comedy. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This remake of Lewis Gilbert's 1966 film of the same name features Jude Law filling the shoes Michael Caine once wore in the title role of Alfie. As with the original, Law occasionally speaks directly to the camera while his character talks of the opposite sex. Under the direction of Charles Shyer, Alfie follows a charming, if morally lacking, womanizer from one bed to the next. While his actions arise more from nonchalance than malice, Alfie nonetheless faces a moral dilemma when considering that he's impregnated one of his latest girlfriends. Alfie also includes performances from Marisa Tomei, Susan Sarandon, and Nia Long. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

History's most renowned ladies' man finally meets his match in this historical romance laced with comedy and adventure. In Venice in 1753, Giacomo Casanova (Heath Ledger) is a notorious playboy whose way with women goes too far when he's caught leaving the bedroom of a novice nun, and one of the leading prosecutors of the Inquisition, Pucci (Jeremy Irons), puts him on trial. The Doge (Tim McInnerny), Venice's political point man, is a friend of Casanova's and pulls strings to get him off the hook and allow him to stay in the city, but under one condition -- he must take a wife and remain faithful to her. Casanova sets his sights on Victoria (Natalie Dormer), a lovely young maiden who is obviously taken with the handsome ladykiller, but he's not the only one who wants her hand. Giovanni Bruni (Charlie Cox) is a young man who is very much in love with Victoria, and in order to move him out of the picture, Casanova challenges him to a duel. However, when Casanova is bested in swords in the challenge, he discovers he's actually been parrying with Giovanni's sister, Francesca (Sienna Miller). As Casanova gets to know Francesca, he discovers she's a gifted writer and a bright and independent woman as well as a good hand with a sword, and he comes to the realization that she's the woman he wants to take to the altar. However, Francesca has already been promised to the vain and chubby Papprizzio (Oliver Platt), a man she's never met, and she doesn't seem at all interested in the notorious Casanova. The true story of one woman's brief and ultimately tragic flirtation with fame in the 1960s provides the basis for this biographical drama. In 1943, Edie Sedgwick (Sienna Miller) was born to a wealthy and socially prominent family, and she grew up with beauty and money, but also a history of mental illness; she was hospitalized with an eating disorder in her late teens, and by the time she was 21, two of her seven siblings had died before their time. In 1964, Edie moved to New York City, and quickly made a splash on the Manhattan social scene; she became friendly with the famous pop artist Andy Warhol (Guy Pearce), who was fascinated by her gamine loveliness and her quirky personality. Warhol wasted no time in casting her in one of his underground movies, and she quickly became a crucial part of his retinue of "superstars." Fashion icon Diana Vreeland (Illeana Douglas) was convinced Edie had the looks and charm to also become a successful model, and soon she was gracing the pages of Life, Vogue, and Glamour. But Edie's instability was hardly helped by her new fast-lane lifestyle, and when she met Billy Quinn (Hayden Christensen), a folk rock singer-songwriter often cited as "the voice of a generation," he persuaded her that Warhol and his associates were simply using her fame and beauty for their own gain, and she found herself torn between two powerful mentors, one of whom had become her lover as well. Factory Girl also co-stars Jimmy Fallon, Mena Suvari, and Tara Summers as regulars at the Warhol "Factory." The character of Musician was inspired in part by Bob Dylan, who was romantically involved with Edie Sedgwick for a brief time. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

But now the law is family, and should the union fail, Silas' new uncle-in-law, Sheriff Foster (Scott Glen), will ensure that the disgruntled groom is sent back to the slammer in a flash. Immediately after the wedding, however, things get complicated when Silas and Camille are run off the road by a reckless truck driver. When Silas regains conscious and stumbles over to Camille's contorted body, it's obvious that she's suffered a fatal injury in the accident. After fleeing the scene and attempting to summon help, Silas returns to the sight of the crash and finds Camille nursing a serious neck injury down by the river while frantically trying to get the grass stains out of her wedding dress. Desperate, the couple hitches a ride with the nomadic Cowboy Bob (David Carradine), eventually realizing that Camille didn't survive the accident despite the fact that she's somehow able to walk and talk with the living. As Camille's body begins to decay, the situation grows complicated when the couple learns that the police are on their trail for an imagined robbery and murder. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

With Interview, his fourth directorial outing, American actor-cum-director Steve Buscemi reworks a 2003 feature by the ill-fated Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. Van Gogh originally intended to shoot an English-language version of the picture himself, but Buscemi signed on after the director's late 2004 assassination. The story concerns Pierre Peders (Buscemi), a steel-tough political correspondent infuriated by his editor's decision to hogtie him to a tabloid-level story about the seemingly vapid actress and blonde paparazzi goddess Katya (Sienna Miller). Pierre's chagrin doubles given the news of a searing White House scandal that is just breaking; instead of covering the piece, Peders must visit a posh Manhattan restaurant and interview Katya -- someone he instantly detests. The one-on-one is more of a disaster than either could have predicted, but by some strange twist of fate, Pierre is injured and courted back to Katya's apartment. Once there, liquor is downed, coke is consumed, minor violence erupts, and the two begin to dance a pas de deux -- attempting, not so subtly, to outmaneuver one another psychologically, as dark secrets and long-hidden vulnerabilities emerge. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

The Jacket director John Maybury adapts playwright Sharman MacDonald's account of the true-life relationships shared between Welsh poet Dylan Thomas; his wife, Caitlin; his lifelong friend Vera Phillips; and her husband, William Killick, in this biographical drama centering on the curious incident in which Thomas found his home turned into a war zone when Phillips and Killick attacked the abode with a machine gun and a grenade. Sienna Miller assumes the role of Dylan's wife, Caitlin, and Keira Knightley joins the cast as the trigger-happy Phillips in a film that not only reunites Knightley with Jacket director Maybury, but takes its cue from the play penned the Pirates of the Caribbean star's mother as well. Lindsay Lohan was originally tapped to play Caitlin, but dropped out due to contractual disagreements. The film also stars Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) as Thomas and Cillian Murphy as Killick. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The landmark obscenity trial surrounding a satirical Australian magazine becomes a metaphor for a wild ride through swinging 1960s-era London in director Beeban Kidron's adaptation of Richard Neville's memoir Hippie Hippie Shake: The Dreams, the Trips, the Trials, the Love-ins, the Screw Ups: The Sixties. Cillian Murphy stars as Neville in a film that follows the editors of Oz as they relocate to London and are forced to defend a sexually explicit issue of their irreverent magazine after it raises the eyebrows of the Obscene Publications Squad. The resulting legal battle would become the longest obscenity trial in the history of English law. Though the publishers of Oz were initially sentenced to hard labor, a subsequent appeal would find their sentences commuted under the agreement that they cease publication of the controversial magazine. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
