The Welsh television channel S4C is responsible for producing the feature Otherworld, based the medieval Welsh legends known as The Mabinogi. This version has present-day, live-action Welsh teenagers Lleu (Matthew Rhys), Dan (Daniel Evans), and Rhiannon (Jenny Livsey) diving under water and entering the medieval animated world. Rhiannon is married and has a son with Lord Pwyll, but a monster takes the baby away. When the giant King Bendigeidfran (voice of Ioan Gruffudd) attacks Ireland, Dan gets involved in many serious battles and weds Rhiannon. Meanwhile, Lleu is involved in many confusing battles of his own before they return to the present day. This animated take on the story of Cinderella finds little Prince Cinders left at home by his three mean big brothers who head off to Princess Lovelypenny's party to dance the night away. Soon Prince Cinders is visited by an incompetent fairy godmother, who tries to turn him into a buff bodybuilder but instead turns him into a big hairy gorilla.
