Actor James Franco wrote and directed this independent drama about two siblings who are by turns raised up and brought down by the bonds of family. Max (James Franco) boasts a genius level IQ, and his brother Adam (Matt Bell) is nearly as bright, but while Adam has the common sense and ambition to make something of his gifts, Max's greatest talent seems to be getting into scrapes and disappointing those around him. Adam has a successful practice as a doctor in New York City, but when Max foolishly tries to swindle some well-connected drug dealers, he has to leave the Big Apple, and somehow persuades his brother to take him to California. On the West Coast, Adam is able to use his medical background to get a lucrative new job, and Max fast talks his way onto the staff of a computer firm. However, Max's inability to stay on the straight and narrow and face his responsibilities quickly resurfaces, and when he starts using crystal meth, he loses his job. Adam also experiences a stretch of bad luck and loses his job, and as a sense of desperation takes hold, he starts joining Max in his drug fueled excesses, leading both down a road to destruction. A poor but ambitious young man strives to make good in one of the most competitive institutions on Earth in this military drama. Jake Huard (James Franco) is a young man from a small Maryland town who grew up in a blue-collar family with few opportunities. Wanting to make something of himself after completing high school, Jake set his sights on attending the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, where he narrowly makes the cut and becomes one of the 1,200 applicants selected for the freshman class. Jake finds that life as a "plebe" is intellectually challenging and physically punishing, and he soon develops a powerful adversary in Midshipman Lt. Cole (Tyrese Gibson), his training commander, who pushes Jake to the limit to see if he has what it takes. Standing on the razor's edge of failing as both a student and a soldier, Jake makes a brave but dangerous gesture toward proving himself by entering the Brigade Championships, a Naval boxing competition where he'll go into the ring against the best fighters in the Navy -- including Lt. Cole. Jake soon has one person on his side when he strikes up a friendship with Ali (Jordana Brewster), a pretty young officer who believes Jake has what it takes to go the distance. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) goes over the edge while he's engaged with Sara (Abby Brammell). After another young black woman is found strangled, Monica (Glenn Close) takes Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) off the cop-killer case so that they can interrogate Kleavon Gardner (Ray Campbell) again. Unfortunately, their only witnesses are a husband and wife who seem more interested in attacking each other than in helping the police. While Vic (Michael Chiklis) and Monica interrogate Antwon (Anthony Anderson), Lem (Kenny Johnson), Shane (Walton Goggins), Ronnie (David Rees Snell), and Army (Michael Pena) are in Griffith Park, using the information they got from Pitarrio (Danny Martinez) to find Angie's body, so that Shane and Army will be in the clear, and Vic can really go after Antwon. They can't find the body, though, so Vic has to try to keep the interrogation under control. Lem goes back to Pitarrio to clarify the location of the body, taking his stash of heroin as collateral, but Monica pushes Antwon with leverage she has over his son, and Antwon, distraught, instructs his lawyer to phone in an anonymous tip about the body to the police. Shane (Walton Goggins) now knows that Mara (Michele Hicks) stole the 7,000 dollars from the "Money Train" stash to send to her mother, Stella (DeLane Matthews), in Indio. At first, he tries to keep the information under wraps, and he and Mara come up with a cover story in hopes of keeping Stella quiet, but when Stella starts demanding more money, and gets a message to contact the Treasury Department, he tells the rest of the Strike Team. Lem (Kenny Johnson) points out that Mara would rat out the rest of the team to save Shane. Vic (Michael Chiklis) tries to keep everyone working together. The team finds a patsy (Jim Budig) to take the rest of the marked money. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) has been tracking Juan (Kurt Caceres), the Byz Latz gang member who assaulted him, and when Juan commits a convenience-store robbery, Aceveda is there to stop it, shooting one of his accomplices, while Juan escapes. The local media hail the captain as a hero. He assigns the Strike Team to help him find Juan. Vic realizes that Aceveda had been following Juan, and suspecting that it might have something to do with the stolen loot, he warns Byz Latz leader Diagur (Frankie Rodriguez) to get Juan out of the country. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) use parking tickets to find a suspect in the "cuddler rapist" case, and interrogate the man's wife (Rebecca Pidgeon), leading to a huge break in the case. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

After his car accident, precipitated by his violent altercation with Shane (Walton Goggins) and Mara (Michele Hicks), Tavon (Brian J. White) is in the hospital with possible traumatic brain damage. Vic (Michael Chiklis) visits Shane at home to find out where he was last night, and sees through the couple's shaky cover story. Claudette (CCH Pounder) and Vic clash over his team's latest assignment, but it leads him to a bigger case involving a Byz Latz member sneaking contraband into Chino. Vic finds out that Aceveda (Benito Martinez) and a federal agent are interrogating his smuggling suspect, Aranis (Manuel G. Jimenez), about some marked bills in the money collected in the bust, and realizes that some of the cash from the "Money Train" robbery is marked. So while Aceveda and the fed try to track down the rest of the Byz Latz money, Vic is racing against them to make sure they don't find it. Vic's moves inadvertently lead to Aceveda having an ugly run-in with a couple of gang members. Julien (Michael Jace) and Danny (Catherine Dent) try to protect a woman who's being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette are called in on another two rape cases involving an elderly women, and realize that there's a serial rapist on the loose. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth) and Adam (Zachary Quinto) find Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) bound and gagged, and Gael (Jesse Borrego) is quickly captured. Michelle convinces Ryan (Paul Schulze) to let her go to the hospital to see Tony (Carlos Bernard), while he handles the interrogation. Anne (Wendy Crewson) gets a call from her ex, Ted (Conor O'Farrell), who tells her that if she comes to meet him at his hotel, he'll turn over documents proving her innocence. While Ramon (Joaquim de Almeida) parties on the plane, he contemplates killing Jack (Kiefer Sutherland), who is tied up in the cargo hold. Jack manages to get loose, though. He gets a gun, and holds Ramon at gunpoint until the plane lands in Mexico, where Hector (Vincent Laresca) waits with a small army. Chase (James Badge Dale) disobeys orders again. He finds out where Ramon is headed, and flies there himself, telling Kim that he'll have to "go dark" to complete his mission. When Tony wakes up and finds out about Gael, he checks himself out of the hospital and races back to CTU, where he fills in the rest of the team on Jack's secret plan. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

As Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) and Ramon (Joaquim de Almeida) escape in the helicopter, Ryan Chappelle (Paul Schulze) returns to CTU, and contemplates shooting them down. He has to make a decision before the helicopter flies over a populated section of Los Angeles, and Chase (James Badge Dale) reminds him that he'd better clear it with Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) before killing the man who saved the president's life. Wayne (D.B. Woodside) gets word to Palmer during the debate, which Palmer decides to interrupt in order to deal with the crisis. He gives the order to shoot down the chopper, but it's too late. Once on the ground, Jack is able to contact Ramon's personal pilot, and make plans to get out of the country. Since Jack's work appears to be done, Ramon decides to kill him. Back at CTU, Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) realizes that Gael (Jesse Borrego) has been thwarting the team's efforts to contact Jack. Meanwhile, Kyle (Riley Smith) is brought in and examined by CTU's medical team, which makes a surprising discovery. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

In Chicago to interview for a job at another hospital, Lewis drops into County General to see her former "crush" Greene (Anthony Edwards) -- and is offered a position in County's ER when Weaver (Laura Innes) fires one employee and kicks another one "downstairs."
