Rosario Dawson and Justin Hartley star in a series of fifty web shorts set in the not-too-distant future, and tracing the war between a race of artificial life forms dubbed "Simulant" and the covert agency charged with eliminating them at all costs. Anna Diaz (Dawson) is an undercover NYPD vice cop who was attempting to solve the mystery of her fiancee's murder when she became drawn into the top-secret war between man and machine. As an undercover vice cop, Diaz was always reluctant to let down her guard with strangers. But there was something different about Nick Korda (Hartley that made Anna feel as if she could trust him from the very moment they first met. Perhaps it was the fact that Nick swept Anna off to Paris and asked for her hand in marriage that made him seem too good to be true. Anna was still attempting to discover if Nick was truly the man she believed him to be when he was suddenly murdered right before her eyes. With business booming, Christian decides to treat himself to a top-of-the-line Lamborghini and later has no qualms about McNamara-Troy becoming the primary source of plastic surgery for the Florida porn business. Sean, however, takes great offense at this idea and later struggles with his own perceptions of perversion when Sophia Lopez(Jonathan Del Arco), a kind-hearted transsexual, approaches Sean about fixing the scars from an operation he had hoped would remove his Adam's apple. Elsewhere, Julia is determined to get her medical degree and disappoints Sean when she clearly wants to study with a sexy male classmate rather than indulge in the romantic dinner he had prepared for them. In other developments, while making living arrangements for her late sister's baby, Connie McDowell (Charlotte Ross) joins Rita Ortiz (Jacqueline Obradors) in investigating a child abduction. Released from prison on his 21st birthday, Antonio (Saved by the Bell's Mario Lopez) pays a visit to his older brother, Horatio (Mark Espinoza), an uptight attorney embarrassed by his Latino heritage. The brothers are connected by their work for crime boss Armando De La Rosa (Efrain Figueroa), for whom Horatio provides "consulting" services and Antonio collects debts. When De la Rosa enlists Antonio to bully the proprietor of a youth shelter off his property to make way for a casino, the young man changes his priorities, thanks in no small part to his friendship with the proprietor (Richard Lynch) and his burgeoning relationship with the old man's granddaughter (Elizabeth Bogush). When Al (Ed O'Neill) starts building a doghouse for Lucky, next-door neighbor Marcy (Amanda Bearse) informs a building inspector (Ian Patrick Williams), who steadfastly refuses to issue Al a permit unless the little house is "up to code." With the help of daughter Kelly's rich boyfriend Carlos, Al labors day and night to construct the doghouse according to the rules--even unto adding a handicapped-parking slot! In a last-ditch effort to bring Peg's parents back together, Al (Ed O'Neill) and Peg (Katey Sagal) join Mr. and Mrs. Wanker for a therapeutic weekend at Dr. Richelieu's Love Compound and Water Park (future Frasier regular Edward Hibbert plays the Doc). Back at home, wealthy Carlos (Mark Espinoza) agrees to date Kelly (Christina Applegate) only if Bud (David Faustino) will keep Carlo's virginal sister Esmerelda (Christina Solis) company. Suffice to say that Esmerelda's--er--status changes dramatically by episode's end.
