The crew of the Voyager must decide if their should put the safety of their allies before their own in this episode of the sci-fi series Star Trek: Voyager. The U.S.S. Voyager is on a search mission, trying to find a Maquis ship which has gone missing, when they're drawn into the Delta Quadrant by a mysterious but power individual known as "The Caretaker." The Caretaker knows he has only a short time to live, and is devoting the last of his days to establishing a colony of Ocampas on another planet. After the death of the Caretaker, Capt. Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), the commanding officer of the Voyager, opts to destroy the Camps space station rather than allow their advanced technologies to fell into the glands of their enemies; however, this decision also leaves the Voyager crew stranded in space with no where to go. In the conclusion of a two-part story, Helen (Crystal Bernard) reluctantly accepts the financial assistance of Joe (Tim Daly) and Brian (Steven Weber) in her efforts to land a position with the Nantucket String Quartet. Unfortunately, the annoying eccentricities of her fellow musicians drive Helen crazy, but she agrees to stay on for the sake of the Hackett brothers. Ace the Wonder Dog, RKO's Rin Tin Tin-wannabe, plays Picardy Max, a mongrel dog adopted by Dan Preston (James Ellison) when both are thrown in jail for vagrancy. Dan's legal problems are quickly done away with but his pretty boarder, Shirley Haddon (Helen Wood), is increasingly troubled by Dan's obsessive competitiveness with fellow dog owner Robert Mabrey (Robert Kent). In fact, the young man's grudge against the entire Mabrey family threatens to ruin his burgeoning relationship with Shirley but everything works out fine when Picardy helps locate a kidnapped Marian Mabrey (June Clayworth). Almost a Gentleman was the second of three programmers starring Ace the Wonder Dog and produced by RKO 1938-1940. In this crime drama, an honest clerk finds himself in a difficult situation when he refuses to help a corrupt financier cheat a group of investors. This angers the financier who then threatens to kill himself. The two men fight over his gun, and it fires. The financier falls to the floor. The panicked clerk then hides the corpse and begins running the company himself. Along the way, he cuts a deal that saves the company and the employees. Unfortunately, the body is found, and for a while, the clerk is in deep. Fortunately, the police investigation reveals the truth and he is acquitted. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
"Father" is British blowhard George Carney, a well-to-do cheese manufacturer. Despite his business savvy, Carney falls victim to the machinations of a team of swindlers. Coming to the rescue is Carney's quick-witted chauffeur Bruce Seton. In this drama a Detroit secretary working at a small school finds herself inheriting $500 upon her principal's death. She decides to use the money for a London vacation. Unfortunately, the new principal fires her for insisting on time off. She goes to England anyway where she finds her impoverished relatives who believe that she is a wealthy heiress. When it appears that she is too cheap to help them, they become quite nasty to her. While in mid-escape, Foster accepts a lift from motorist Basil Langton. She soon learns that Langton is himself on the lam, since he's suspected of being a thief. In this crime drama, a con artist posing as a financier cheats his peers out of a large sum of money, resulting in suicide and imprisonment. The con man is also imprisoned, but he escapes. Those he cheated await their release and then take off after him. The man is such a louse that his own wife squeals on him.
