Cameron Mathison Movies
Virtually a household name among aficionados of daytime soap operas, actor Cameron Mathison jetted to fame via his portrayal of Ryan Lavery on All My Children. The role actually represented Mathison's first significant break when he signed for it in early 1989; he subsequently left the series but returned (and thus extended the portrayal) in 2003. In addition to multi-season hosting duties on the SoapNet channel's reality program I Wanna Be a Soap Star and guest appearances on such prime-time series as CSI, The Drew Carey Show, and JAG, Mathison gave his recognition an added boost when he signed with ABC as one of the celebrity dancers on the fifth season of its reality program Dancing with the Stars. One of the most controversial (and widely-reported) stories of the early 1990s is vividly dramatized in this made-for-cable movie. In 1992, Allen Schindler, a navy sailor serving on the USS Belleau Wood, is savagely beaten to death while on leave in Japan. Allen's grieving mother Dorothy Hajdys-Holman (Bonnie Bedelia) becomes even more distraught when the representatives of the United States Navy refuse to provide her with full details on her son's murder. Then comes the ultimate shock: A newspaper reporter informs Dorothy that her son was gay, and that this might have been the reason he was killed. But if the Navy has anything to say about it, the entire matter will be swept under the rug, with Dorothy remaining as much in the dark as the rest of the world: A deal has already been cut with one of Allen's killers, who after a secret court-martial is given what amounts to a legal slap on the wrist. Radicalized by the incident and its aftermath, Dorothy joins forces with a crusading journalist to force the Navy to reveal the whole truth--and she isn't about to let the court-martial of Allen's other assailant to be conducted behind closed doors! The upshot of this high-profile case was the creation of the Service Members' Legal Defense Network, assuring that no branch of the armed services would ever again be able to conspire to cover up a major crime. In the slaughterhouse of the Meteor Meat Company, the arm of a murdered victim is found in a meat grinder. In the course of their investigation, Grissom (William L. Petersen) and Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) end up at the trendy restaurant where the victim had worked as a chef. Based on a novel by Melissa Senate, this made-for-cable romantic comedy stars Charisma Carpenter as Jane Grant, a New York bachelorette with a moderately successful job at a publishing company. At the behest of her Aunt Ina (Linda Dano), Jane must find a suitable date to escort her to her cousin's wedding in four weeks. Our heroine experiences a number of romantic misadventures with a steady parade of "Mr. Wrongs" (one of whom is played by Joe Millionaire's Evan Marriott) before hitting upon a man who might be "the One" -- and then again, might not. Making Jane's task all the more difficult is the presence of her former high school nemesis Natasha Nutley (Holly Marie Combs), now a soap opera diva whose autobiography Jane has been assigned to edit. In the conclusion of The Drew Carey Show's two-part Season Eight opener, Kate (Christa Miller) returns to Cleveland with the news that she is engaged to a fighter pilot named Kirk (Cameron Mathison), with whom she plans to move to Guam once they are wed. Upon discovering that Kirk has a long history of philandering, Drew (Drew Carey) vows to stop the wedding, going so far as to lock Kate in the basement.
