Rob Corddry Movies

As the correspondent of the popular Comedy Central tongue-in-cheek reportage series The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, acid-mouthed comic Rob Corddry developed a schtick that involved interviewing newsmakers and gleefully poking fun of them on live camera -- recalling the early days of series host Craig Kilborn (in Daily's pre-1999 incarnation). Corddry also took over Stephen Colbert's "This Week in God" segment and would frequently slip into character as a "take no prisoners" interviewer called Dino Ironbody when interrogating his subjects.

Corddry hails from the Boston area. He was born in Weymouth, MA, in 1971 and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After graduation, he joined the comic ensemble Third Rail Comedy for a few years, then formed (with three others) the four-man comedic ensemble Naked Babies. In time, Corddry's antics secured a spot for him on Comedy Central -- initially on The Upright Citizens Brigade. As a comedic actor in feature films, Corddry debuted with a portrayal of Warren in the Will Ferrell-Luke Wilson frat-boy comedy Old School (2003), and his performance as a cracked gun salesman was one of the only saving graces of the awful Matthew McConaughey movie Failure to Launch (2006). The comic-turned-actor re-teamed with Ferrell and Wilson for the 2007 skating farce Blades of Glory, then signed for roles in such films as the Farrelly Brothers remake of The Heartbreak Kid (2007) and the 2008 sequel Harold and Kumar 2.

Corrdry went on to play a supporting role in Operation: Endgame, a 2010 action comedy following the rivalry between two groups of government assassins, and won laughs, if not critical success, for his turn in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010). Corrdry reunited with fellow Daily Show alumni Ed Helms to play a small supporting role in Cedar Rapids (2011). The comedian solidified his cult following with Children's Hospital, a satirical medical comedy that relishes in the clichés of more traditional medical dramas. In addition to a starring role, Corrdry also came up with the show's concept. In 2012, Corrdry joined Steve Carrell (yet another former Daily Show co-star) for a supporting role in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, a comedy drama following a couple on their final road trip before an asteroid destroys mankind. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Steve Carell and Keira Knightley star in this apocalyptic comedy following two neighbors who set out for one last road trip after learning that a massive asteroid will wipe out all life on Earth in just three weeks. Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightly) are both having a very bad day. Shell-shocked after hearing that the last hope of destroying the massive asteroid on a collision course with Earth has failed, Dodge watches helplessly as his wife bounds out of their car and vanishes into the night. Later, as the now-reluctant loner ponders what to do with his remaining time on the doomed planet, sobbing waif Penny appears at his window lamenting her breakup with self-centered boyfriend Owen. When the sun rises the following morning, the two neighbors who had barely exchanged passing glances in the hallway have forged a tenuous yet very real connection. Tensions rise, however, when Dodge learns that Penny inadvertently received an inviting love letter from the ex he's always loved, and that she failed to give it to him before all of mankind was doomed to a catastrophic fate. When Dodge announces a plan to reconnect with his ex while he still has the time, guilt-ridden Penny vows to help him accomplish his goal at all costs. But the more time this mismatched pair spend on the road together, the more their journey takes on a new meaning -- one that neither could have ever seen coming, but which both sense was the way things were meant to be. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Two strangers (Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher) find themselves hitched after a wild night of Las Vegas shenanigans in this 20th Century Fox comedy. Jack Fuller (Kutcher) is a single Manhattanite who can never quite commit to a permanent, long-term relationship and repeatedly hears from his lovers that he "isn't serious boyfriend material." Employed by his father (Treat Williams) at a local furniture business, Jack spends his workdays goofing off by watching sporting events behind dad's back. Joy McNally (Diaz) is faring slightly better; a young, polished urbanite, she juggles a demanding job as a trader on the NYSE with a marital engagement to the impressive Mason (Jason Sudeikis), but has modified her entire life and all of her interests to please her intended.

Coincident with Mr. Fuller's decision to fire his son, Mason severs his engagement to Joy; as a result, both Jack and Joy hit the skids at around the same time and decide to cut their losses by heading out to Vegas. The two accidentally bump into one another when a computer mix-up at the hotel puts them in adjoining rooms; though they begin their acquaintanceship by bickering endlessly, they end up spending a long, drunken night on the town together, and when the sun rises and Joy comes to, she discovers that she unwittingly married Jack in the middle of the night. Alas, just when the two are about to call it quits by filing for divorce after the shortest marriage in history, Jack tosses a coin into a Vegas slot machine and hits a three-million-dollar jackpot -- which naturally pits the newlyweds against one another in an attempt to claim the full share of the money. A conservative local judge, R.D. Whopper (Dennis Miller), then adds the final twist by refusing to grant a divorce until Joy and Jack have given married life a fair shake. In time, the marrieds may just discover that this union isn't as far off the mark as they initially thought. Eva Longoria Parker, Rob Corddry, and Jason Biggs star in first-time writer/director Mark Lafferty's satirical look at the American school system as seen from the perspective of a burnt-out elementary school vice principal on the verge of a nervous breakdown. When it comes to receiving a proper education, Geraldine Ferraro Elementary is the last place a parent would want to send their child; the teachers generally hover somewhere between drunk and psychotic (though frequently a bit of both), the children have all been left behind. Meanwhile, harried Vice Principal Tom Willoman (Biggs) has little choice but to stand aside and watch as both his life and career slowly circle the drain. Enter Rebecca Seabrook (Longoria Parker) -- the smoking-hot district inspector assigned the thankless task of shutting down Geraldine Ferraro Elementary once and for all. Taking note of the reckless corruption displayed by morally handicapped Principal Billings (Corddry), Rebecca schemes with Vice Principal Willoman to take back the classrooms and give the kids a fair shot at getting a proper education. But ever since he suffered an undisclosed tragedy, Vice Principal Willoman has been rendered a total milquetoast. Can Willoman summon the fortitude needed to help Rebecca whip Geraldine Ferraro Elementary back into shape, or has the damage inflicted during the embarrassing Billings administration already locked the school into an irreversible nosedive of epic buffoonery? Much of the group responsible for MTV's The State -- including director/actor David Wain and performers Ken Marino, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Joe Lo Truglio -- reunite for this outrageous, irreverent, and raunchy sketch comedy, which skewers the Ten Commandments. In the framing sequences, comedian Paul Rudd (who collaborated with much of the cast on Wet Hot American Summer and The Baxter) stands on a black stage with giant Biblical tablets projected behind him and promises to deliver ten mini-stories, each loosely based on one of the commandments, from "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me" through "Thou Shalt Not Covet." For all of the storyteller's efforts, however, he is constantly, comically distracted by interferences, particularly those emanating from intrusions by his multiple girlfriends. The stories are nonetheless told one by one in short-film form, beginning with a sketch in which Stephen (Adam Brody) goes skydiving with his intended, Kelly (Winona Ryder), but forgets to wear his parachute and gets stuck in the mud, waist-deep, which draws gawkers, media, and in time, worshipers. Several of the subsequent stories consist of raunchy, jet-black riffs on sexual perversion, including one about a virginal librarian (Gretchen Mol) entangled in a sultry and messy affair with a Mexican, and another memorable bit about a nutty surgeon who plays a prank by burying a pair of scissors in a patient's stomach and is then sent to prison -- where he experiences brutal sexual abuse at the hands of other men. As an added bonus, the picture packs in a fully animated sequence, narrated by several crack-smokers, entitled "The Lying Rhino." ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Created by Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy and American Dad fame, the weekly Fox comedy series The Winner was a remake of the 2002 movie Becoming Glen. The TV version was essentially extended flashback, recalled in "the present" by 43-year-old Buffalo resident Glen Abbott (played by former Daily Show contributor Rob Corddry). The action took place in 1994, when Glen was a 32-year-old virgin hypochondriac, still living at home with his parents Irene (Linda Hart) and Ron (Lenny Clarke). Most of the stories revolved around Glen's relationship with former girl-next-door Alison (Erinn Hayes), who'd returned to Buffalo a single mom with her 12-year-old son Keir (Josh Miller)--who, curiously, looked and behaved just like Glen--in tow. Throughout the series, the viewer was forearmed with the knowledge that, twelve years or so later, Glen Abbott would be a billionaire enterpreneur. . .though precious few clues were given as to how this metamorphosis would come about! The Winner debuted March 4, 2007, as a companion piece for Seth MacFarlane's animated Sunday-night offerings. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Lila's company wants to relocate her to Europe, but only because she's single -- they don't force married couples to uproot themselves. So Eddie hastily proposes to her, even though they've only been dating for six weeks. But the moment they exchange vows, Eddie starts to notice Lila's rough edges and annoying habits, which had remained hidden underneath her perfect exterior. Their Cabo San Lucas honeymoon gets off to a rough start full of tuneless pop singalongs and surprising revelations about Lila's job and her past. Things only get worse for a confused Eddie when he meets Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), a Midwesterner in Cabo for a family reunion -- and starts to wish he'd held out just a little bit longer. On the heels of his first foray into romantic comedy, versatile French filmmaker Luc Besson breaks new ground yet again with this computer-animated, family-friendly adaptation of his own children's book Arthur and the Minimoys. Arthur is a wide-eyed ten-year-old whose vivid imagination is fueled by the colorful bedtime stories his grandmother reads to him each night. His dreams are filled with images of African tribes and the remarkable inventions detailed in the enigmatic book that his grandfather left behind after mysteriously disappearing four years ago. Arthur and his family are in danger of losing their home to an unscrupulous real-estate developer, but if there is any truth to the tales of a treasure hidden deep beneath their garden and the tiny, fairy-like creatures that his grandmother so frequently sketches, there may still be hope of saving their home before it's too late. Now, with nothing to guide him but the clues left behind by his grandfather, Arthur will set out to find the mythical world of Seven Kingdoms, where the Minimoys are said to dwell, and ensure that his troubled family always has a place to call home. The original hitman of paintball returns to reclaim his rightful crown in the one comedy that proves you're never too old for a killer comeback. It was that fateful attempt at a fourth win that ultimately derailed Dukes' career as a triggerman, though, and after being shot during one of his signature moves, the three-time champion committed one of the most heinous acts in all of paintball -- wiping.
