Jake Muxworthy Movies
Actor Jake Muxworthy emerged as an onscreen presence in the early 2000s, when he gradually transitioned from bit parts to higher billing, and concurrently developed and honed a reputation for tackling intense, demanding material, often in the horror or thriller genres. Muxworthy landed one of his first roles when he signed to play a paramedic in the Jet Li action opus Cradle 2 the Grave; he followed that up with a key supporting part in David O. Russell's heady, existential comedy I Heart Huckabees (2004). The actor then accepted his first lead -- as the comparatively less twisted of a psychopathic serial killer's two sons, in Morgan J. Freeman's shocker Born Killers (2005). Muxworthy extended his track record of dark and disturbing material by essaying a lead in the horror opus Asylum (2007) -- as one of several students who must combat a possessed dormitory -- and he signed for one of the main roles in the same year's Bordertown, a slasher picture about a Mexican town on the border beset by a series of grisly killings. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide- Starring:

A thief and a lawman join forces to hunt down a common enemy in this action thriller. Tony Fait (DMX) is a master thief who, along with his crew (Gabrielle Union, Anthony Anderson, and Drag-On), pulls off a major score when they steal a cache of highly valuable black diamonds. However, the hard-as-nails Tony has a soft spot for his young daughter Vanessa (Paige Hurd), and Ling (Mark Dacascos), a former detective turned ruthless criminal, kidnaps Vanessa, demanding a ransom from Tony for her return -- the stash of black diamonds. The jewels have already been stolen, however, from Tony's fence Archie (Tom Arnold), and are now in the hands of a powerful underworld boss (Chi McBride). Determined to get back his daughter whatever the cost, Tony and his gang set out to find both Ling and the diamonds, but he soon gets some invaluable help from an unlikely corner -- Su (Jet Li), a government agent from Taiwan who was once Ling's partner, and has an old score to settle with him. Five years after achieving commercial and critical success with his film Three Kings, director and screenwriter David O. Russell returns to the more idiosyncratic territory of his earlier work with this intelligent and offbeat comedy. Bernard and Vivian Jaffe (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin) are a married couple who run an existential detective agency where they sift through the lives of their clients in order to discover the source of their angst. The Jaffes' latest client is Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman), an environmental activist who has a very large rock and a great deal on his mind; their study of Albert's problems lead Bernard and Vivian to Brad Stand (Jude Law), a public relations executive with a chain of successful variety stores, Huckabees. While publicly allying himself with Albert's environmental initiatives, behind the scenes Brad is running roughshod over responsible land management with little care for the consequences. When Brad learns he's being watched by the Jaffes, he hopes to co-opt them by hiring them himself; however, the plan has unexpected consequences when their questioning leads Brad's girlfriend, well-scrubbed model Dawn (Naomi Watts), into reassessing her life and relationships. Meanwhile, Albert finds himself joining forces with Tommy (Mark Wahlberg), a firefighter and fellow environmentalist who has been having second thoughts about Bernard and Vivian's ideas and methods after a long-term investigation and has since fallen under the spell of nihilist poet and philosopher Caterine Vauban (Isabelle Huppert). ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Two brothers who make their living through murder and theft find that their work gets harder when they tangle with an intelligent young woman in this dark thriller. Siblings John (Jake Muxworthy) and Michael (Gabriel Mann) were raised by their father (Tom Sizemore), a psychopath who drifted from town to town, killing people and taking their homes and belongings when he ran low on money. John and Michael traveled with their dad, and have grown up to follow in his footsteps, though while Michael enjoys his work and takes particular pleasure in raping and murdering women, John has less enthusiasm for violence and prefers to kill only when the circumstances demand it, without developing a close connection with his victims. John and Michael's ways take a disquieting turn when they abduct Archer (Kelli Garner), a clever and attractive young woman whom both men fall for. This situation begins to deeply trouble John, and his half-sister, Gertie (Lauren German), suggests that it's time he gave up his life of crime, though it soon becomes clear she has motives of her own. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

While the people of the Counter Terrorist Unit watched helplessly, Marwan's (Arnold Vosloo) nuclear missile was launched from somewhere in the Midwest, most likely headed toward a major city on one of the coasts, leaving CTU about three hours, coincidentally, to somehow stop it from reaching its target. Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) has no luck trying to engage the captured Marwan in some sort of negotiation. "I'm getting what I want," he tells Jack. Edgar (Louis Lombardi) notices that Marwan received a call from Richard Heller (Logan Marshall-Green), of all people, about a week ago, and Richard is brought in for questioning again. Tony (Carlos Bernard) ruefully notes of Jack and Audrey that while they seemed like a fun couple yesterday, Jack has since been responsible for her husband's death and now may have to torture her brother. Audrey begs Jack to let her talk to Richard for five minutes before Jack begins his hardball tactics. When Richard won't talk to her, Heller (William Devane) shows up, and gets the young man to acknowledge that an unsavory couple may have had access to his cell phone during the time in question. CTU manages to get an address for the couple, and Jack takes a team there. Before leaving with Jack, Tony has an emotional discussion with Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth) about their future together. At the apartment complex, CTU encounters a familiar and very dangerous foe. Meanwhile, somewhere deep under the White House, Logan (Gregory Itzin) and Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) engage in a political power struggle with Don Ashton (Denis Arndt), the overly ambitious Speaker of the House. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide
