Mitzi Kapture
An autistic boxer and a nomadic stripper form a tenuous friendship that helps them both to better understand the world that appears to have left them both behind. Noah Connelly (Michael Worth) is an aspiring boxer from Oakland, California. Most of Noah's days are spent cleaning the floors at his local gym, patiently waiting for the perfect moment when he'll finally step into the ring and his future will come into focus. To the casual observer Noah leads an entirely unremarkable existence, though exotic dancer Alexia (Margot Farley) is far from the casual observer. One day, after crossing paths seemingly by chance, Noah and Alexia begin to affect the way Alexia views the opposite sex. To this point in her life, Alexia has taken a somewhat transient approach to relationships. Now, as her friendship with Noah begins to show signs of becoming something more serious, Alexis discovers that her approach to love may hint at a deeper pain that she isn't sure she possesses the power to confront. Encouraged by the owner of the gym (John Saxon) to introduce Alexia to his family, Noah invites her on a journey that will take her out of her comfort zone while challenging her entire perception of love. Perhaps if Alexia can find the courage to confront her deepest fears, Noah can summon the self-confidence to strap on the gloves and prove himself as a true pugilist. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The first of two radical cast turnovers occurs during the first half of Silk Stalkings' fifth season. Having worked together as undercover cops on the Palm Beach, FL police force for nearly six years, detectives Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Rita Lance (Mitzi Kapture) have fallen in love, and are married in a secret ceremony. Upon finding this out, Chris and Rita's ulcerated superior officer Captain Harry Lipschitz (Charlie Brill) breaks up their professional partnership. Chris is then teamed with Det. Holly Rawlins (Tyler Layton), a Southern gal who has never quite gotten over the drug-induced death of her sister. Rita's new partner is Det. Michael Price (Nick Kokotakis), a Chicagoan with plenty of his own emotional baggage. Less than one month after his marriage, Chris is gunned down and killed while trying to save his pregnant wife from kidnappers. Traumatized by this occurrence, Rita quits the police force cold, whereupon the saddened Lipschitz teams Holly Rawlins with Michael Price. This remains the status quo until the season's cliffhanger finale, in which Mike is falsely accused of murder and Holly is breaking every rule in the book to clear Mike's name; Lipschitz, on the verge of losing two crack "dog and cat" teams in a row, is seriously thinking of retirement. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Season four of the stylish cop drama Silk Stalkings opens with a two-part episode. In "Natural Selection," Sgt. Rita Lance (Mitzi Kapture), an undercover cop specializing in solving crimes of passion amongst the wealthy residents of Palm Beach, FL, goes it alone to track down a gang of serial killers while her partner, Sgt. Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes), shot down and left for dead at the end of season three, recovers from his wounds and undergoes several grueling sessions of physical therapy. It is crystal clear at this point in the series that Rita is in love with Chris, but she may very well lose him to the female doctor who saved his life. On the rebound, Rita enters into a relationship with a man named Eric. One thing leads to another, and finally the series arrives at its cliffhanger season finale, in which Rita thinks she is pregnant with Eric's baby -- while Eric himself is shot down and killed right in front of Chris' eyes! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Season three of Silk Stalkings finds the series missing from its familiar late night berth on the CBS detective anthology Crimetime After Primetime. However, the series will continue to air on the USA cable network, turning out first-run episodes for the next six years. Back to solve more crimes of passion amongst the rich and well-connected citizens of Palm Beach, FL, are undercover detectives Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Rita Lee "Sam" Lance (Mitzi Kapture). This season, Chris and Rita take their marching orders from a new superior officer: Captain Harry Lipschitz, a bombastic but likeable hypochondriac played by comedian Charlie Brill. Also added to the cast is Brill's wife and comedy partner Mitzi McCall as Harry's overbearing wife Fran. Highlights during the third season include the episode "The Party's Over," which boasts a plot transparently lifted from the 1944 film noir Laura: a grieving Chris investigates the brutal murder of his partner Rita -- only to be shocked and surprised when Rita turns up alive and well a few days after "her" body is found. Similarly, the season's final episode, "Dark Heart," takes a few pages from the 1972 Clint Eastwood flick Play Misty for Me, as Chris is stalked by a lovelorn female psychopath. This situation sets up the chilling cliffhanger finale, with Chris hanging onto life by a thread after being shot full of holes...and Rita finally realizing how much she loves him. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Sgt. Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Sgt. Rita Lee "Sam" Lance (Mitzi Kapture) continue to expose the sordid, sometimes kinky nether world of fashionable Palm Beach, FL, during the second season of Silk Stalkings. Working as undercover cops, Chris and Rita persist in their efforts to solve various crimes of passion amongst the community's rich and powerful, under the baleful eye of their superior officer Captain Hutchinson (Ben Vereen). Or at least, they do so until mid-season, when "Hutch" is transferred to Ft. Lauderdale; his replacement, who remains on the job for the balance of the season, is Lt. Lou Hudson (Robert Gossett). Season two of Silk Stalkings also marks the first appearance of two lovable reprobates. Comedian John Byner is cast as Cotton Dunn, a playboy con artist who preys only on those who can afford to throw away their moolah. Dennis Paladino is seen as Donnie "Dogs" DiBarto, a soft-hearted gangster who clearly has a crush on Rita. Among other plot developments this season, we discover that Chris Lorenzo is the son of famed actress Anna Alexis (Beverly Adams), from whom he has been estranged for years. This, coupled with revelations about Rita's troubled upbringing, serves to add texture to what might have been just another superficial cop drama. Although Silk Stalkings would end its CBS run at the end of season two, first-run episodes would continue to be shown on the USA network for the next six years. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

According to series narrator Sgt. Rita Lee "Sam" Lance (Mitzi Kapture), crimes of passion committed amongst the rich and famous of fashionable Palm Beach, FL, are known to the police as "silk stalkings" -- thereby explaining the name of this popular hour-long cop drama. Throughout the series' inaugural season (originally telecast on two different networks, CBS and USA), Rita is teamed with Sgt. Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes), and despite the fact that the two undercover cops are immensely attractive, they manage to keep their working relationship on a strictly-business level. Also seen during season one is Chris and Rita's superior officer, Captain Hutchinson (Ben Vereen), a grouchy traditionalist; assistant D.A. George Donovan (William Anton) who disapproves of the cops' methods and is clearly a bit jealous of their trendy wardrobes; and radio psychologist Melissa Cassidy (Kim Morgan Greene), with whom Chris has a brief romance. Among the fringe benefits of Silk Stalkings' freshman season is a lengthy dialogue passage in which we learn the turbulent life story of Rita Lance (for one thing, her birth name wasn't Lance); and the first of several cameo appearances by series creator Stephen J. Cannell, who portrays one Roy Conroy in the episode "The Sock Drawer." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Her half-sister, it turns out, is a prostitute, and former-hooker Angel, virtuously "born-again," is dead-set against prostitution so she's out to save her sibling. This mundane sequel to New World Pictures' surprise horror hit bears little connection with its predecessor apart from the participation of writer Ethan Wiley, who also assumed directorial duties. This time around, the title abode is an old mansion inherited by the great-great-grandson of its original owner, a legendary frontier outlaw. The new owner, Jesse (Arye Gross), whose parents were murdered in the mansion 20 years ago, unwisely searches the premises for a cache of gems believed to be hidden there. With the aid of girlfriend Kate (Lar Park Lincoln) and buddy Charlie (Jonathan Stark), Jesse stumbles upon the original owner himself (Royal Dano), who is remarkably still alive (albeit in particularly decrepit condition) and cantankerous as all get-out. Great-great-grandpa has been preserved by the supernatural powers of an Aztec crystal skull, which is also capable of reanimating the dead and opening portals into other dimensions. Its true powers are tested readily when the skull falls into the wrong hands, leading our heroes on a wacky supernatural chase. The horror-comedy formula that kept the original film's shaky premise afloat is far less functional here, filling the story with silly contrivances that include a collection of pet monsters and a time-travel romantic subplot. Still, the film has some clever moments, mainly from Dano, who makes the most of his difficult character by adding a cartoonish flair, and from Cheers alum John Ratzenberger's amusing cameo turn as a plumber strangely accustomed to cross-dimensional travel. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
