California native
Cheryl Holdridge grew up in a household where show business was the norm, as her mother had formerly been a dancer. Following in her mom's footsteps, she began studying tap and ballet when she was small, dancing professionally by nine. Being so close to the bright lights of Hollywood made the jump to the screen a natural one, and in 1956, the 12 year old joined the cast of
The Mickey Mouse Club. She was a popular member of the show's cast and stayed with the series until it was canceled in 1959.
Holdridge kept acting, however, and found no shortage of roles. She made guest appearances on dozens of TV shows over the coming years before abruptly retiring in 1964 when she got married. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Rob (Dick Van Dyke) is in a pickle when one of the "Alan Brady Show" dancers, 18-year-old Joan Delroy (Cheryl Holdridge), develops a crush on him. Although Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) finds the whole thing amusing, Rob can't see the humor in it. Not only is he old enough to be Joan's "father...er, older brother...er, younger father," but her incessant fawning is getting in the way of his work. In desperation, Rob tries to scare off Joan by pretending to be a "wolf" -- whereupon Joan's hotheaded boyfriend Ernie (Jimmy Murphy) takes retribution! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Wally's girlfriend Julie Foster (Cheryl Holdridge) is impressed by the moustache worn by transfer student Wayne Gregory (Robert Koff), so much so that she dumps Wally (Tony Dow) in favor of Wayne. Out of jealousy, Wally decides to cultivate a bit of lip fuzz himself. The results are far from suave and sophisticated -- in fact, they're downright laughable. The question is, will Julie laugh along with everyone else, or will she see the error of her ways? ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Moving to a new night (Thursday rather than Saturday), and boasting a jazzy new arrangement of its theme song, Leave It to Beaver settles down for its sixth and final season. Hoping to impress his girlfriend Julie Foster (Cheryl Holdridge), Wally (Tony Dow) decides to take her on a fancy dinner date. He's even willing to go the whole nine yards by escorting Julie to the White Fox, the classiest place in town (needless to say, this was Julie's idea). As the couple enjoys their very expensive meal (80 cents for the soup alone), Wally confidently reaches for his wallet -- only to find it isn't in his pocket! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Both Wally (Tony Dow) and Eddie (Ken Osmond) are up for a job at the local ice cream emporium, but it's Wally who lands the position. He also wins the adoring attention of the pretty girls who frequent the establishment, making Eddie mighty jealous. Hoping to get even, Eddie and Lumpy (Frank Bank) cook up a scheme whereby Wally will deliver six quarts of ice cream to the home of Mary Ellen Rogers (Pamela Baird) during a girls-only slumber party -- thereby incurring the wrath of Mary Ellen's father. In the episode's uproarious climax, Wally concludes that revenge is a dish best served cold (as cold as ice cream). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

After several appearances in the recurring role of Gloria Cusick, Cheryl Holdridge matriculates to the part of Wally's new girlfriend Julie Foster. Gloria's a sweetheart, but there's a problem -- she's also the daughter of Wally's English teacher, Mr. Foster (Ross Elliott). This sets Wally to worrying that he'll receive undeserved high grades now that he's squiring the teacher's daughter -- and later on, he is certain that he'll flunk out when he breaks up with Julie. Meanwhile, Lumpy Rutherford (Frank Bank), perennial failing student, moves in on Julie, convinced that he's now "got it made." He doesn't -- as is proven beyond all doubt in the episode's sidesplitting denouement. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Disneyland began its fourth season on the air with a gala, all-star "special", essentially designed to promote all three of Disney's network TV series. Pressured by his cartoon creations and the latest crop of Mouseketeers to tell them what's in store for the 1957-58 season, host Walt Disney offers tantalizing glimpses of the new weekly adventure show Zorro, the Disneyland miniseries The Saga of Andy Burnett (with Jerome Courtland in the title role) and the newest installments of such Mickey Mouse Club serials as "Spin and Marty." The remainder of the Fourth Anniversary Show is an uncut presentation of the "Peter and the Wolf" segement from the 1946 animated feature Make Mine Music. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
