Borat trickster Sacha Baron Cohen returns to the big screen to offer yet another stinging dose of sociopolitical satire in this comedy that finds him assuming the persona of gay fashionmonger Bruno, the self-proclaimed "voice of Austrian youth TV." Originally conceived as part of Baron Cohen's cult television series Da Ali G Show, the character of Bruno offered a cleverly costumed Baron Cohen the opportunity to highlight the absurdities of the fashion industry by interviewing unsuspecting fashion icons and other haute couture hangers-on. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Master of disguise Sacha Baron Cohen hits the road to explore America as the crude Kazakstani reporter Borat in a feature mockumentary that brings one of the Da Ali G Show star's most popular characters to life on the big screen. Sent by the Kazakh Ministry of Information to gain a better understanding of American culture and bring his findings back home, Borat and faithful producer Azamat (Ken Davitian) set their sights in New York City. When the citizens and interview subjects of the Big Apple seem less than receptive to Borat's distinctively unrestrained approach and the curious Kazakh television personality stumbles across an episode of Baywatch while channel-surfing in his hotel room, he becomes instantly smitten with screen siren Pamela Anderson. Now confident that the only way to discover the true essence of America is to travel to California and make the bikini-clad beauty his bride, Borat purchases a ramshackle ice-cream truck in which he and Azamat will make their way across the Great Plains and on to the sunny West Coast -- all the while coming into contact with a wide variety of "typical" Americans. Within this loose, scripted framework, Borat engages in his usual misbehavior with unsuspecting strangers, from accidentally releasing a chicken from his suitcase on a New York subway ride to a formal interview with Alan Keyes. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In 2005, Israeli forces were dispatched to the Gush Katif section of the Gaza Strip, where they were to clear out eight thousand settlers who had been told they would no longer be allowed to stay there. This was not destined to be a simple matter; the Jewish settlers were being moved to make room for nearly a quarter million Palestinians, and a number of Israeli activists were determined to stay rather than allow the land to be taken over by their rivals. Filmmaker Yoav Shamir and a crew of cameramen headed to Gush Katif to capture what happened between August 14 and 18, 2005, as Major General Dan Harel of the Israeli Defense Force took charge of the evacuation of the settlers, and Noam Shapira spearheaded a resistance movement among fellow Jews. 5 Days documents this tumultuous work week, with a different member of Shamir's crew recording each of the five days and offering a different perspective on the evacuation. 5 Days received its North American premiere at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Written in 1976 and staged on Broadway the following year, D.L. Coburn's two-character play The Gin Game was first televised in 1981 with the play's stars Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy repeating their roles as a pair of oil-and-water residents in a dismal nursing home. This 2003 remake, produced for PBS, pulls off the spectacular clue of reuniting Dick Van Dyke Show stars Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, casting them in parts that are as different from Rob and Laura Petrie as it is possible to get without traveling to another planet. Van Dyke plays Weller Martin, an irascible oldster who considers the day wasted if he doesn't fill the air with the foulest language imaginable. Not surprisingly, Weller gets along with no one at the home -- which would suit him fine if he wasn't a gin-rummy addict. Enter Fonsia Dorsey (Moore), a prim, proper senior citizen who has only two things in common with Weller: She has been effectively abandoned by her family, and she loves playing cards. Inevitably, the mismatched duo embarks upon a series of spirited gin games, punctuated by terse verbal combat, at least one physical assault, and, ultimately, a touching display of tenderness and concern. For those PBS outlets whose viewers were not prepared to hear and see two TV icons swearing like sailors and striking one another, the network prepared a "clean" version of The Gin Game, where at least the language was toned down (if not the play's original bite and bitterness). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Two men forge a friendship under very, very difficult circumstances in this independent comedy. Jake and Rock are two guys with practically nothing in common -- Jake (J.D. Shapiro) is a neurotic New Yorker who will kvetch about his problems with anyone who will listen, while Rock (William Dozier) is a slobby and emotionally adolescent California surfer type. However, one important thing brings them together -- both Jake and Rock were married to the beautiful but extraordinarily temperamental Margo (Kylie Bax), and after Jake is dumped by Margo, he turns to Rock for emotional support. Before long, Jake and Rock become roommates, writing partners, and best friends, despite the fact that they drive each other up the wall, and as the two try to put together a film project about their lives with and without Margo, they discover just how many people have had their lives turned around sideways by her. We Married Margo features a number of celebrity cameos, including Cindy Crawford, Kevin Bacon, and Tom Arnold. Remarkably enough, We Married Margo was actually inspired by a true story, and writer, director, and star Shapiro did in fact meet Dozier after they were both involved with the same woman. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
