When Mama Solis succumbs to her injuries, everyone from Wisteria Lane attends the funeral. Andrew Van De Kamp (Shawn Pyfrom) continues to act up, and his parents consider sending him to a juvenile disciplinary camp. Lynette (Felicity Huffman) makes friends with Alisa Stevens (Marlee Martin), whose children attend the same school as Lynette's boys, but friendship can be a fragile thing when lips are loose. Although Six Feet Under often dwells on death -- such as this week's depiction of a scenic designer named Kevin Lamb (Dennis Christopher) who stages his lover's funeral as a miniature opera -- "Nobody Sleeps" also revolves around the birthday of the Fisher matriarch. Electrified by her daring, naughty new friend Bettina (Kathy Bates), Ruth (Frances Conroy) loosens up a little and actually has some fun on her special day. Part of that is thanks to Lisa (Lili Taylor), who, despite the objections of husband Nate (Peter Krause), manages to throw a lovely and somewhat rowdy party for her mother-in-law. Even David (Michael C. Hall) has fun, despite his continuing troubles with Keith (Mathew St. Patrick), which have been thrown into sharp relief by Kevin's elaborate tribute to his late partner. The only person to miss the festivities is Claire (Lauren Ambrose). She's busy having the night of her life getting drunk and talking trash with her pal Russell (Ben Foster), her art teacher Olivier (Peter MacDissi) and one of Olivier's big-wig artist friends. A drunken Nate, also enjoys some rambling conversation -- with the taunting specter of his stultified father (Richard Jenkins), whom Nate fears he's becoming. In the fourth season opener, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Willow (Alyson Hannigan) have entered college in Sunnydale and set about choosing courses. Despite a roommate who snores, Willow is confident in the new intellectual environment, but Buffy feels unsure of herself and completely out of place. Soon, she meets Eddie (Pedro Balmaceda), another insecure freshman clutching his favorite book, Of Human Bondage. After they part ways, Eddie is attacked by a group of vampires led by Sunday (Katherine Towne), a punkish vampire on campus. Later, Buffy realizes that Eddie was not in class and goes to his dorm room only to find his things missing, except for the book. While on slayer patrol, a newly vamped Eddie lures Buffy into a confrontation with Sunday. In other plot developments, Xander (Nicholas Brendon) has not entered college, but gone on a trip across America, ending in Oxnard and a stint in a male strip club -- as a dishwasher. Buffy's (Sarah Michelle Gellar) got a real demon of a roommate at college. Not only is Kathy (Dagney Kerr) a neat freak who dates her milk in the fridge, but she also insists on following Buffy on her nightly slayer patrols. Things look better when Buffy meets-cute with Parker (Adam Kaufman), a seemingly nice upperclassman. Then, Kathy shows up wearing Buffy's sweater and proceeds to get ketchup all over it. Later, Buffy complains of having nightmares in which a demon forces her to eat blood and a scorpion. Her friends don't know what to think, especially after she shows them Kathy's toenail clippings that have kept growing -- proving that her roomate truly is a demon. Meanwhile, Oz (Seth Green) has his first whiff of Veruca (Paige Moss), a meeting that will lead to some hairy entanglements for everyone's favorite boy werewolf. ~ All Movie Guide
